London to Freetown. I have made it to diamond club gold status as I have started flying more frequently on this
route. In the past 6 months I have noticed lots of positive changes mainly due to many complaints from the regulars
on this route. Check-in was very busy but the supervisor apologised and opened an extra desk and checked me in. He
offered to upgrade me as the flight was oversold. The lounge was very busy and I only had time to grab a quick bite
to eat but was disappointed that there was no champagne. The aircraft cabin had a new smell to it and was bright
and spotless and had smart brown leather seats. The crew were attentive, and made conversation with people in
business class. The food was in small portions but tasty. Overall a very pleasant flight and hope my return trip in
economy isn't too painful after being spoilt in business class on this trip.

Yerevan-LHR on an A321. The plane departed Yerevan 2 hrs 15 mins late, but 30 mins of this was made up en
route. The seats were comfortable with reasonable legroom, and the hot breakfast was filling if not particularly
tasty. The cabin crew seemed to prefer bantering and joking among themselves to giving professional friendly
service to passengers. There was a long wait for baggage at LHR.

Forget the Diamond Club. Join a different Star Alliance Member's programme. When you want to spend them, I
have over 250,000 miles, you have to through BMI and their offers on their flights are very limited. There is almost
no chance of reaching anyone to help you with the other airlines. I spent over 1 hr listening to a recording saying
someone would help me soon and I finally gave up. I've tried this at different times of day on different days and
always the same. No answer.

BEY-LHR operated by an A321. This is just a brief follow-up to the outbound review below as it is important to
note that BMI would appear to operate at least two differently configured A321s on its mid-haul services. The
Business Class seat on the outbound flight was of a different design, had a large IFE screen and lap-top power-
points. The aircraft operating the inbound service, which was not in as good an internal state as the outbound
aircraft, had a very small IFE screen but, significantly no power-points. This was particularly annoying as I had not
ensured that my laptop was fully charged-up, having assumed the use of a power-point on the aircraft. So, be
warned! Otherwise, service was much the same – ie good, although the meal service was delivered immediately
after departure following which the cabin-crew were not much seen in the cabin again until shortly before arrival at
LHR.

LHR-CAI Flight left London about 20 mins late but time was made up and we arrived in Cairo about 15 mins ahead
of schedule. The Economy Class food was reasonable. The flight was completely full including overhead locker
space, I asked the flight attendant if she could hang my jacket, she asked for my boarding card and when I
explained its in my cabin bag at the back of the overhead locker, she rather abruptly replied without a boarding
card cannot hang your jacket. In other airlines they just write the seat number down on a piece of paper and
attach to the hanger. I'm not sure how old the A321 was as the interior looked very dated, brown seats and
brown curtains, surprising given the exterior of the aircraft looks quite modern in light blue with red flashes.

LHR–BEY operated by an A321. Boarding in the limited space area of Gate 74 within LHR’s T1 was a shambles.
Economy Class appears to have been heavily over-booked so that many Economy Class passengers were being
upgraded. I have no problem with people being upgraded, I have been the fortunate recipient of upgrades on
various occasions previously but ordinarily, upgrades are awarded on a SFU basis. This would not appear to apply
with BMI – I was unfortunate enough to find myself being sat next to an upgraded passenger who, in shorts and
flip-flops, was clearly not content with being upgraded without then spending much time, both prior to and after
departure, trying to re-arrange the cabin so that he and his travelling companion, who had also been upgraded,
could sit together. All of that apart, the Business Class product on this mid-haul flight was excellent, the aircraft
cabin was spotless, the new leather seating was ideal for this length of flight, the cabin crew were attentive and the
catering was imaginative in terms of choice. Unfortunately, as a result of the over-booking fiasco, the flight
departed over 1hr late and arrived 40 mins late.

London-Yerevan in an A321. I was upgraded due to overbooking. The Business Class service was friendly and
generally efficient (the passenger next to me had to ask for water five times before she got it). The food and drink
were good and I appreciated the apparent policy of having trolleys in the aisle as little as possible (carrying
individual meal trays to passengers), which means that the aisles aren't blocked for a long time and passengers
can get to the (single) toilet. The seat is quite comfortable. The only gripe is the minuscule size of the in-seat
entertainment monitor.

I always travel to Cairo by BMI, staff are generally friendly and always capable and helpful. I've only known the
flight back from Cairo to Heathrow to be late once and this is more likely to be due to congestion at Heathrow
than to any failings on the airline's part. Fares are very reasonable, so I can afford to go more often to see family
in Egypt. Planes a bit cramped, but no more than others I've flown on.

London Heathrow-Riyadh. Seats were too rigid (reclines only a little), and quite uncomfortable due to
the narrow pitch. An equipment box was located beneath the seat in front of me, therefore I wasn't able
to stretch my legs fully. The aircraft interior was clean. Food was edible, and refreshments adequate.
The cabin crew were friendly enough, however, some looked quite dishevelled. The personal entertainment
unit was out of order for most of the flight- good thing I brought along a book!

Flights between LHR-Belfast City Flexible Economy. Excellent service both ways. The flight out was
fairly full. Newish aircraft. Helpful staff and delicious sandwich and Gin & Tonic. Same coming back
except fewer people so used smaller aircraft.

Departure to Amman was delayed by an hour, no prior announcement, found out on plane. Plenty of
leg space, meal good, and staff friendly. Return trip left on time, good service and comfortable
journey.

LHR-TXL return. The seat space for economy more than adequate and free food and drink service
was welcome. Arrival back to LHR a comedy of errors as the pilot parked too far away from the
jetty meaning a staircase disembarkation, but pilot apologised and kept us updated.

LHR-BGO. New route, flight was very quiet both ways with around 50 pax. Outbound delayed by
over 90 minutes - no announcements until on board aircraft and explanation given. Seating more
comfortable than on recent flight in Business with BMI. Crew efficient. online check in didn't
work on return and just gave an error code with a UK phone number to call. When I called, a
recorded message said the number was no longer in use. Helpful! Return on a re-fitted plane -
very smart. Great crew on way back but, but as seems normal with BMI, exactly the same food on
both legs.

London Heathrow to Moscow Domodedovo. Automated check-in at LHR simple, although the dreaded
bag drop queue took around 20 mins to negotiate. Outbound flight packed, but staff efficient
and meal quite reasonable. Return manual check-in at Moscow far quicker than automated system.
IFE system took some time to negotiate due to age and incompetence, but reasonable selection of
programmes that passed the time amiably enough, although headphone ear loops broken. Identical
meal as first leg. Both flights on time and at a pretty good price, considering the amount of
tax and extras that are inevitable these days.

Manchester to London and back - usually fly BA, but booked ahead to get cheapest fare and was
concerned that at the time, strikes on BA might disrupt my trip. There should be a 'height'
warning - I am six foot, but even if I were a couple of inches shorter, would still have bumped
my head on the roof of the aircraft. Small seats, very little luggage room, small aisle, which
they somehow managed to get a trolley down selling peanuts, drinks etc - and very dodgy steps
on and off the aircraft. You have to absolutely hang onto one of the handrails while getting
off, as the steps seemed to be older than me.

Beware the BMI TXL-LHR flights, especially the ones that depart TXL around noon. These flights
mostly end-up parking by the domestic terminal at LHR, thus the need to disembark from the rear
doors (business class passengers beware) and then experience an epic bus ride around T1 to get
to the immigration area. I assume this plane then continues on a domestic flight. I have flown
this flight many times - always end up at the domestic terminal and always with an excuse
/falsehood from the pilot - i.e. flight arrived too early, flight was late, problem with a late
leaving flight at our intended international stand!

LHR-TXL. Online check in easy - just need to have your passport number to hand as part of the
procedure. Got airside quickly and into lounge, with decent choice of drinks and light
refreshments. Not many pax in cabin and service was good, although seating looked and felt
tired - not especially comfortable. Choice of two hot meals and offered drinks several times.
Return journey - LH lounge is landside - an odd concept and you need to factor in time to get
through security, but this was efficient. Boarding more chaotic than at LHR. Same tired looking
cabin, but FA friendly and came round taking drinks order and asking about food choice.
Disappointingly the menu choices were the same as the outbound flight a couple of days earlier.
Uneventful flight back to LHR, with several updates from cockpit. Arrived on time, but there
seemed to be a problem with the airbridge, so we had to deplane from rear door and get a bus.
I like bmi, but find it something of a mixed bag.
