HEL-ARN and back. Both legs were RJ85's but first plane was configured 3-3 and the second 3-2. I suspect they are changing to 3-3 to pack in more seats which means I will never fly with them again. 3-3 seat config was terrible (and this was row 2 in economy extra). Seats incredibly narrow and pitch very tight. Return flight in 3-2 config was much nicer. With care you can pick the 3-2 config flights over the 3-3 flights but I wonder when will all the RJ85's be 3-3. To the terrible seats the attendants forgot to serve drinks with the meal to the first two rows on the way out, I heard cans being opened behind me but nothing for us in the first two rows When they came around with just tea and coffee after the meal they could not understand why I asked "whenare you serving fruit juices and other drinks".

CPH-HEL in economy class. I have always been a Blue1 fan, but after this trip, I am not so sure anymore. The flights departed and arrived on time, which is probably what you can expect from an airline these days. I think what really bothered me is that it was so uncomfortable on both flights (AVRO-85). Although I have flown CPH-HEL on Blue 1 quite a few times, I cannot remember that I have ever been on a plane with a tighter seat pitch than these two flights. It might be that there has been a change in aircraft! In addition, I think that the flights were expensive, given that I got the lowest possible rate (about 250 EUR for a return ticket all inclusive), and the service provided. Next time, it will be Finnair!

Have flown many times with Blue1 and cabin crew very helpful and friendly. The planes are good standard with good leg room. In addition the check-in routines are fast and efficient no matter how you do it.

LHR-HEL return. Aircraft an ex SAS MD90. Aircraft and cabin interior was clean and tidy although a little dated, seat pitch was good. Flight attendants friendly and information from the flight crew was good. Only tea coffee is free on board - food has to be purchased. Flight to HEL was on time return to LHR was one hour late. Overall no major complaints and good value for money. Usual good Scandinavian hospitality.

HEL-RVN-HEL, MD-90. The plane was new, clean and with large seats. The crew was very professional and polite. Either in Helsinki and Rovaniemi we arrived ahead of scheduled. I recommend this airline, even if sometimes the fares are not really low-cost.

ARN-HEL-ARN in premium economy. Cold food but wine quite ok. In Rj-85 try to get row 1-4 since pitch is 32 there, otherwise. As said, quite ok being a commuter line. Ahead of schedule both legs.

HEL-CPH. RJ85/100 - clean, quiet (I like these aircraft). Good crew, good service. Flight crew kept us informed about our journey, routing and expected time of arrival. No complaints.

Fly Blue1 twice a year, from Stockholm Arlanda to Vassa. The other reviews are right about the plane noise, it is pretty loud with a prop plane. But the fact that it was 2x1, plus the seats were blue leather and larger than normal than made up for it.

Already flown many times ARN-VAA and vv with Blue 1 in Biz Class (C) and I can only say to be very pleased with the service provided during this 50 mins flight.

Early morning Blue1 flight HEL-OUL with MD90 aircraft. They charge for everything on board. Breakfast 5 euros which would have been too much for me, but sandwich with coffee would have cost the same. So bought the unhealthy bun + coffee for 2,50. On Finnair you get a sandwich and coffee for free even on this 1 hour route. Crew nice with one exception but they did not check that luggage was stowed away before landing. Does not give a nice impression especially after the problems that SAS and Blue1 have had with their planes lately.

Vaasa-Helsinki-Oslo with premium economy ticket. Check-in via SAS-website and no queuing at the airport necessary. They use Avro 85 on these routes with a very nice grey and dark blue interior. The front walls are decorated with original modern art pictures! Just 5 seats per row is much more comfortable as most other airlines using this aircraft type. The finnish domestic flight was one-class only with food for purchase. Coffee and cinnamon bun was nice for EUR 2,50. Easy transfer at Helsinki and second flight offered two classes with a nice snack-box for premium economy. On all flights, the flight attendants were very nice and helpful. Impression was significantly better as with their parent company SAS.

On Sunday 1 July 2007 we arrived at Stansted to pick up the 19.55 flight to Helsinki. Apparently the incoming plane had a fault so was unable to fly but two smaller planes were to be provided. There was a considerable delay in the take off these two planes (we were in the second) and we did not arrive in Helsinki until well into the early hours of the morning with two very tired teenagers. Our return trip was booked for Friday 6 July 2007 at 18.55. To our dismay the plane detailed for our flight was faulty and our return journey would be delayed until 21.50. The plane detailed for this trip was faulty and we would have to wait for another plane to return from its previous journey. We arrived in Stansted well after midnight local time. We did appreciate the four 10euro food vouchers in Helsinki. Whilst I do appreciate that faults do occur which must of course be dealt with, but I feel that two experience within six days does not fill one with a great deal of confidence! Once in the air our flights were comfortable and staff helpful.

Helsinki to Warsaw. Nice planes, company has sort of a young, energetic vibe to it and they seem upbeat, which is nice to see in these days on downtrodden, world weary flight attendants and gate agents. They are a little nickel and dimey on cabin service with any drink, but then who isn't these days I guess.

Vienna to Rome. Flight on older 737-400. Flight attendants young and cheerful. Flights departed on time and arrived about 10 mins early. Great considering I paid 10 euros for flight and tax! Great that they fly into VIE and FCO and not BTS or CIA!

Helsinki - Berlin - Helsinki, December 2006. Plane was MD90 and full. Flights were on time. No free meals anymore, but Cafe1 concept is ok for me. Both flights were on time, so I do not have any complaints. And price was 59e/one way, so it is cheaper than Finnair.

Blue1 flight to Berlin in economy class. Aircraft was Blue1 - MD-90 leased from SAS fleet. Internet check-in one day before departure and got window seat from first row. One-class flight this time. Cabin announcement difficult to hear, cabin interior a bit dirty and flight attendants weren´t smiley at all. No free service. BlueCafe was available and buying cold chicken pasta with choice of wine or beer for price of 8EUR, it wasn't not a good value at all. Plane landed 20min before schedule and they were efficient during arrival service. A mediocre flight with reasonable price and I got impression that Air Berlin and Finnair are much better value for this leg. I rate a 2 Star.

I have flow with Blue1 twice. The flight was on time, very helpful stuff and cabin crew.

I found flying Blue 1 to be a nice surprise. Flew from Helsinki to Stockholm. Flight was priced amazingly (about $70 US) and on a 50 minute flight I was surprised to be given food. Albeit a bland ham sandwich, it was very welcome as I'm used to paying for food on domestic flights in the USA- even on ones lasting 6 hours, never mind a 50 minute one! And may I add, that both Stockholm Arlanda and Helsinki Vantaa are a pleasure to fly in and out of.

Blue1 works, until you have a problem. It seems like this airline does not exist anymore, if for example they accidentally charge you the flight price twice. No answer from the internet support, and no possibility to send an email. And no answer for fax either. So here I am, with the tickets, and my bank account getting below zero, calling and waiting and wasting even more money to reach the non existing internet Blue1 support. Really bad service.

TXL-HEL-TXL. What has become of that lovely regional member of Star Alliance that earned nothing but praise in the past? Outbound flight on a SAAB 2000. Got seats in the emergency exit row, so the two-hour flight was quite good. On the return flight, it was an AVRO 85. I have flown on that aircarft type and its predecessor, the BAe 146, on companies ranging from Lufthansa Cityline and SWISS down to KLM UK and their low- fare branch BUZZ. When I heard their seating was 5 in a row rathern than 6, I was more than pleased. It was only on board that I realised that what had been gained in width of the seats had, at the same time, be taken by cramming 17 rows in that small aeroplane. I have never in my life sat so uncomfortably in that type of aircraft. The greatest disappointment, however, was the introduction of Blue 1's new so-called Cafe 1 service. It simply means that – like it's holding company SAS – they have given up serving food and beverages for free on all services except transborder flights within Scandinavia. (Don't ask me why they stil serve food on flights were there only competitor is their parent company SAS and why they don't on flights were they compete with companies like Finnair and Air Berlin!) The food was of the same making, same price and same mediocre quality as on SAS flights. In contrast to SAS, they even serve all cold drinks in small cans or bottles so that you can be charged everytime anew. On SAS, you get at least free refills as soon as you have purchased a drink. Ah yes, one more thing that has rather to do with BLUE 1's handling agents at HEL: STAR ALLIANCE gold member status means nothing hear. They neither return luggage with priority labels before the others nor does the check-in staff label your luggage accordingly.

I have flown Blue1 many times and always had a wonderful reception off the ground staff and the cabin staff. Always smiling and always helpful. Even on the two occasions when the flight was delayed alternative arrangements were made.

Helsinki to London. 45 minutes after setting off the cabin lost pressure and the face masks dropped and we rapidly dropped altitude. Although we managed to make it back to Helsinki it was another 12 hours before we could get another flight. 2 days later I went to pick up my sister from a Blue 1 flight - again it was cancelled and she has to take a flight 24 hours later. It may be discount but what's all this pain and suffering worth!

CPH-HEL–OUL–ARN Economy. Another impressive series of flights with Blue1 – all on time departures, tasty complimentary snacks and drinks and polite and friendly crew. Star gold card meant bags came off first at OUL which was appreciated after a long trip (started from EDI with bmi). Check in at OUL only opened 45 mins before departure – I could have had another 30 mins in bed – wish I’d known this! Nice to see they’re expanding their network with new routes and aircraft. Good luck to them. Lounges at CPH, HEL and ARL all up to the usual SAS standard – CPH wins for size and comfort though!

15 March 2006

I took special price offer from Blue1´s website for domestic flight in February 2006 for HEL-OUL-HEL (Helsinki-Oulu return). Overall I have to say that I missed Finnair for this leg. Finnairs Airbus flight is far better than Blue1´s Avro experience. Blue1 has very nice flight attendants. Service is attentive and smiley. They also kept brief security info for all passengers flying with children. They asked if they know to use child belt, oxygen mask, life vest use and nearest exit. That was nice to see as a personal care for passengers with children. They also gave toys to children although this was domestic 60 min flight! But, the Avro jet is noisy. Cabin announcements can't be heard after takeoff. Overhead bins were dirty and had black finger marks everywhere in both flights. Comparing to Finnair, Blue1´s Avro is bit dirty inside from cabin. If you want to use lowcost airliners with full service, then I recommend Blue1. I admit it's better than SAS Europe flights. But you can get good offers from Finnair with better value and quality. Choice is yours. I won´t use Blue1 in this route nor European routes. Finnair offers better service for European and domestic destinations.

Have flown with Blue1 dozens of times from HEL to HAM, GOT, OSL, CPH and they've never let me down yet: always on time, nice meals and excellent drink selection for such short flights, FA's professional, genuinely friendly and very attentive.

Flew Blue1 ARL-OUL return in economy. Compared to SAS they are a class apart - friendly staff, complimentary food and drink, clean planes and on time. Would recommend this airline for Scandinavian flights - come on SAS, pull your socks up!

16 August 2005

We flew with Blue1 in July between CPH-HEL-CPH. The smiling flight attendants were fantastic. Ticket price is very cheap comparing with SAS or Finnair, 30-40% cheaper, but the service was great. It was the first time but not the last time we use Blue1. We are going to fly Blue1 again, and will strongly recommend them.

Flew between Copenhagen and Turku. I didn't expect anything at the beginning as this airline is owned by SAS, but then I got a pleasant shock! The in-flight service was fabulous. Too much attention, smiling FA, free food, coffee/tea serving twice. Free Camus cognac in economy nowadays? Couldn't believe that. Probably the best airline in Europe and such a pity they are serving within Scandinavia only. Hope they will expand their network over the Europe. 200% satisfaction and will strongly recommend Blue1 to everybody!

KF from Helsinki to Berlin-Tegel on 5th of July 2005. I did the internet check-in so we didn't have to stand on check-in queue. The flight was 30 minutes late because of malfunction with their AR85. They managed to get another plane amazing fast and we had to change only our gate. In board the service was excellent and friendly cabin crew served a meal with free of charge wine and beer. Cabin is very spacious in Blue 1's AR85s and the seats are little bit wider than with most other airlines. The ticket cost was only € 53 one way with taxes, so I will use Blue 1again whenever it is possible.

Flew with them between Stockholm and Oulu. Nice, clean plane and the seats feel a bit more spacious than others. Even though it is a short flight they served a sandwich, coffee and drinks. Very friendly staff.

I have had the pleasure of travelling with Blue1 OSL-HEL on several occasions the last year. Low price and high standard are really a winning combination. Friendly and service minded flight attendants, only one minor delay due to heavy snow in Oslo, very nice aircraft(; the HS/Bae146). On my first Blue1-flight I had bought a really, really low priced ticket, and was expecting no food. But to my surprise I was served a nice sandwich, coffee and beer. One thing: try using the self-check-in to avoid the somewhat grumpy SAS-ground personnel handling Blue1. Especially on OSL. I am going to fly Blue1 again, and will strongly recommend them to others.

I use Blue1 very often in Helsinki - Oulu and every time everything has worked. New aircraft, very friendly FA's and nice refreshments. All planes has arrived on time and ticket price is very cheap, sometimes 50% cheaper than Finnair ticket.

I can recommend Blue 1 on every level .The price is lo-cost but the planes, meals, staff and service exceeded those of my normal carrier (KLm) in every way. I will be flying more with Blue 1 for these reasons. In a half dozen flights so far all have been on time. They exceeded expectations.

I flew with Blue1 in May CPH-HEL and it was a great flight. I love the BAe146 they use on that route too - great little aircraft. The only complaint I have about that is the legroom - when the woman in front of me reclined her seat, my knees were trapped, but luckily she realised my predicament and put her seat upright again. The flight attendants were fantastic - they never stopped smiling throughout the flight, and we were served a very tasty roll and free alcohol, which is always a bonus! And I had paid next to nothing for the flight too, so wouldn't hesitate to fly them again or to recommend them to others.
