USM-BKK. Being a regular flyer with Bangkok Airways I've noticed they have gone down a notch lately. Once you have seen the 'Beautiful Airport' you get over that and find out that Bangkok Airways is overpriced for what you get. This is mainly due to Bangkok Airways owning the airport so being able to set their own prices. The food has gone downhill. A cold chicken burger and orange squash is a little on the poor side and if you want a beer you have to pay. Its also gone from 40bt to 80bt in a month, quite a jump in price. Flight attendants are very pleasant but Bangkok Airways are over for budget Asian airline.

Return from Bangkok to Phuket using A319/A320. Check in effortless, was with my elderly father who uses a stick and the staff wanted to arrange him a buggy warning us the walk to the gate was a considerable distance. He is too proud so we declined and passed through the fairly busy domestic terminal to the area this airline seems to monopolise. A good thing about this was that the lounge is located here. This was an economy only route but as others note all passengers can use the lounge and obtain free hot and cold drinks and simple snacks (selections understandably limited) as well as Internet access (rationed to 15 minutes). Boarding was more or less on time though by bus and the kindly check in staff had arranged for us to have a seat at the front of the cabin. The aircraft was clean and staff smart in their turquoise uniforms. Once airborne a simple but adequate meal was served on this flight of just under 90 minutes. A tip if taking the same route - do try for a right hand seat for some stunning views during the descent. Bags took a while to come through but a Thai Airways jet had arrived just before us - most of their fleet are much larger aircraft so the small airport was quite busy. On the return check in was chaotic but my father was again given a seat near the front. A similar meal was served and again, the airline more or less kept to time. With the price of the flight at around £100 this impressive little airline offers good value - slightly better than its larger competitor. It was also publicised that through check in to other airlines is possible in Phuket, possibly because there is also an immigration presence.

BKK-USM-BKK. The lounge at Bangkok airport is comfortable and provides all the services required when you are in transit for a couple of hours. Our outward flight was fine and must give full marks to the FA who stopped the safety briefing to (very politely) ask the passenger holding up a newspaper to pay attention and stop blocking the view of those behind him. As I do not eat fish, I passed on the tuna roll but it is always impressive that the FAs manage to serve a snack, drinks etc in such a short time. Koh Samui airport has to be the sweetest airport in the world. Unfortunately, at check-in on the return journey we were informed that Bangkok Airways could not check through our luggage (it had been checked through on the outward journey), so we would have to collect our cases at Bangkok airport, check in for the international flight and then go through immigration and security. No explanation or offer of assistance was provided - given the short time we had between flights some assistance would have been very welcome. The flight to Bangkok was delayed and, once again, the snack was a tuna roll. I do not know how much control Bangkok Airways has over transferring luggage but we waited approx 25 minutes for ours to appear and had to run to the international check-in area.

Bangkok-Siem Reap-Phuket via Bangkok. Great airline, very prompt, efficient, lovely crew onboard, good snacks, quite expensive versus Air Asia but they offer good routes not served by Air Asia. Siem Reap to Phuket was a bit of a pain as it is sold as direct with a touchdown in Bangkok but you have to physically disembark, coach to the terminal, clear customs, get back on the coach and reboard the plane - not a major problem and meant on arrival in Phuket we had already cleared customs. Overall very impressed and would recommend them.

BKK-HKT with B717. Flight was delayed for 2h due to foggy weather conditions. I didn`t mind because every passenger gets Lounge access. I know no other airline which offers this for its economy passengers. The information regarding the delay were sufficient. The short flight was uneventful with the usual snack and drinks being served.

SIN-Samui-SIN in economy. New A319 in impeccable condition, flight attendants as good as they get and food superb. A five star carrier in the air (10/10) but let down on the ground. Both flights were about 1 hour late, initially only a few minutes late but drifted later as the ground staff in Singapore and Samui busied themselves with paperwork and talking to each other leaving passengers with no announcements. International departure lounge in Samui has insufficient seats for a full A319 - a problem for delayed flights!

BKK-Siem Reap return. Both flights on A319 for this short hop. Good experience with nothing to complain about. Impeccable, friendly service, well kept cabin. For the fare paid good price/value.

BKK-Samui return. Outbound flight in a 717 and flight time 40 minutes. Return leg new A319 and flight time 1 hour. Excellent flights with food served on both legs. Samui airport is how airports should be and an experience in itself. This is the second time we have used this airline and would recommend it over other cheaper carriers. Lounge in BKK is great with free food and internet access. The airline owns the airport in Samui and they have gone overboard with all the personal touches which make you feel like this is how all airlines should treat its customers, regardless of seat class!

Bangkok to Koh Samui and return. First time with this airline and a pleasure. Good experiences start at the airports - Koh Samui is amazing and surely the most beautiful airport in the world. Good, modern aircraft with pleasant, efficient staff at all stages of the journey. Look forward to travelling with this airline again.

Bangkok - Samui - Bangkok. Lounge at Bangkok small but perfectly formed, aircraft new and seats very comfortable for such a short flight. Crew were warm and food very pleasant. Samui airport has to be the worlds best!

Bangkok-Samui and 9 days later Samui - Phuket. Both experiences were a complete pleasure. From staff at check-in, to the flight attendants. They were very helpful and professional. We flew on a 717 and a new Airbus. Both were clean and comfortable. The food onboard was more than acceptable especially given the short time in the air to Samui. The lounges at both BKK and Samui were a welcome facility.

We've flown Bangkok Air whenever we could in SE Asia for many years and have always found them friendly and efficient. Like some others we had a Siem Reap Air flight which was 'suspended' leading to confusion & not much help from Bangkok Air. But fortunately we asked our friends in Cambodia and they said it was a non-issue. Sure enough, we got there Bangkok Air was flying the flight, honored our tickets & seat assignment & we checked in at their counter. All simple - just wish they'd posted that information on the Siem Reap Air site! I also wish they'd stick to 7 days per week to Yangon. It is hard to plan a trip and then have them cancel several flights each week when business slows. We had to change our plans on a recent trip and switch to a much less convenient Thai Air flight. I can understand their motivations, but it certainly wears on loyal customers to deal with the changes.

Bangkok/Chiang Mai, CNX/ Samui, USM/BKK. Flight to CNX smooth, departed on time, check in fine, lounge not full, snack served was adequate on this short flight. CNX/USM lounge again adequate space, snack adequate, FA's very helpful and attentive. USM/BKK Business, very good help at check in with connection on Thai - for international connecting passengers one can clear immigration at Samui airport (which has been expanded and renovated). Flight excellent and good meal served on short flight with good service in Business. This is well worth the extra. Was met on arrival at BKK and directed to correct connecting floors. Very good airline - will use anytime above others in the region.

I reserved a flight on Siem Reap Airways which was cancelled when the airline was suspended. Bangkog Airways, the parent company, did not contact me about the suspension. I had to find out by accident online. I contacted Bangkok Airways several times to find out if the flight would be replaced and received no answer. Eventually they sent an e-mail one week before the flight and asked if I wanted it replaced with a flight on Vietnam Airlines. I replied I did, but never received a reply from Bangkok Airways. I still don't know if I have a flight or not. No doubt the Siem Reap suspension was a challenge for Bangkok Airways to deal with, but basic e-mail or phone communication would have been appropriate.

I agree with Tony that this airline is over-rated. However, it beats Thai Airways for domestic travel on several accounts - it serves a large sandwich and cookies, rather than some insipid snack. Second, it has a lounge, though on my last visits in November, the lounges at Bangkok and Chiangmai airports were hopelessly over-crowded. Fares are comparable with Thai.

I cannot understand the hype for this airline which is mediocre. On several flights HKT to BKK, I have experienced delays. Their lounge at HKT is a joke - far too small and difficult to get a seat. In previous years they served a nice hot Thai meal.

I like this little airline and found the in-flight catering on short haul flights better than anything in Australia. After I boarded one flight I found I'd left some shopping in a coffee shop in the terminal (admittedly not Bangkok) and the crew managed to get it retrieved it for me and brought it out to the aircraft.

Bankok - Koh Samui economy. Flight departed on time, plane spotless and comfortable. The staff were attentive, but not overly so, and we landed early. The food was just a roll and a drink, but at least it was complimentary and they didn't try to charge the earth for it. All in all, a lovely little airline.
