I routinely commute between Vienna and New York. I fly both business class and
economy, and believe the service is very good. Economy meals are perfectly good.
But generally not meritorious of relatively high praise as the meals in business
are. The crews are professional and courteous. My only issue with the service is
when, by bad luck of the draw, I get a seat with impaired leg room as a result
of those metal entertainment boxes on the floor. Those are only barely tolerable
when the seat next to me is empty, but horrible during a full flight.

Toronto-Vienna and Prague-Vienna-Toronto. Departing flight was okay except for
the archaic entertainment (movies on TV's hanging off the ceiling) which
continued through the night. On the return flight, the standard screens on the
back of the seat were in place, but the plane was smaller and extremely
uncomfortable. I'm fairly tall (5'11"), and there was no room for my legs so
they stuck out into the aisle. A flight attendant came barrelling down the aisle
and she smashed into my knee. The other flight attendants were quite friendly.
The food was barely edible for both flights, but the drink service was often. If
you have a little extra money to spend, I wouldn't recommend taking Austrian
Airlines, as I was highly disappointed.

AMS-VIE. Had an extremely cheap ticket so wasn't expecting much. Flight was 90%
full in Economy and 50% in Business. Boarding at AMS was quick and from the rear
towards the front co-ordinated, therefor boarded as one of the last ones. Still
able to take some newspapers (local Austrian and English ones) for the flight
onboard. Service was up to standards with food and beverage needs for a 1.5 hr
flight. Arrived early in VIE after a late push back in AMS! Good service, seats
could be a bit more comfortable, but no need to complain.

ZRH-VIE-SOF-VIE, first and last leg on A320, VIE-SOF onboard 737. All planes
featured the new seats which are quite comfortable for these short-haul flights
offering sufficient legroom. We took off in SOF with more than 30min delay, the
crew provided timely and updated information on connecting flights. Staff
onboard and at airports were friendly and helpful. Food service was good between
VIE-SOF and a somewhat uninspired sandwich on the last leg. All in all a good
experience.

BKK-VIE-PRG. If you don't mind a narrow and uncomfortable seat, Austrian is a
very good choice. Staff friendly and helpful. Foods are very good and delicious.
BKK-VIE plane was very old, but VIE-BKK plane was new and cabin equipment worked
well.

VIE-BKK-VIE operated by Austria using rather old former Lauda Air Boeing 777.
Staff friendly and helpful. Food was good, entertainment system not state of the
art, no video on demand.

SKG-VIE-ZRH in C-Class. The service to VIE was excellent and food divine. VIE-ZRH
was very much different. The Purser was given comments to other passengers which
were inappropriate and thought she owns the company. The food was again very
good but the service was lousy.

KBP-VIE-NCE. A320 with new seats, wasn't impressed with this. Looks good, but
feels firm. Next flight on Fokker 100 with old seating, and much better.
Catering concept is tending to be non-existent meal with free bar service. All
planes well kept. Baggage safely made the connection (about 3 hours layout in
Vienna). Overall experience was ok, very good value for money, safe and
punctual. Strong 3 star, but not a 4 star.

Dubai-Vienna-Geneva in Economy Class. First sector on a Boeing 767, and then
A319 to Geneva. Remote stand boarding at DXB. Was re-assigned to a central aisle
seat at check-in. Ended up with an elderly gentleman seated two seats away but
practically rested his head on my knee when he decided to curl up and make the
most of two seats! Service efficient and quite cold, although fine. Functional
rather than friendly. Sandwich and a couple of drinks after take off. Woken one
hour before landing for breakfast. Austrian has the best coffee I have tasted on
a plane. Quite a filling breakfast and on time arrival in VIE. Transfer for
Schengen flights a breeze. Coached out to A319 to Geneva. New slimline European
seats. Comfortable for the short flight. Yet more of the excellent coffee plus a
muffin. On time landing in a beautiful morning in GVA, the captain keeping us
all informed of the landmarks outside as we made approach. I was travelling on a
Lufthansa issued ticket. Very good handling by the Star Alliance partner staff I
encountered. Time to retire or refit the old 767's though.

Rushed service on the evening flight from LHR to VIE. Only 1 flight attendant
designated to a full Business cabin. No menu choice, awful meal. The new Europe
Seat was a shock and very uncomfortable.

VIE-LHR in Business Class. The impressions from ground staff at Vienna Airport were that they are poorly trained
and not particularly educated about the airline, the product, and the airport they work in. After a series of
misinformation from check-in, we finally reached the Senator Lounge near to our C Departure Gate even though
check-in told us that the only Senator Lounge was by the D Gates. The lounge is not large but we found
comfortable chairs and catering was nice. After a few hours Security was fast and efficient and then entered the
departure lounge which was jammed to the roof - far too small for our full 737-800. A 10 mins delay was already
on the Board but this stretched into a 40 mins wait. The gate staff were hopeless in providing information and
managing boarding. Vague announcements created a scrum and soon she had the entire room standing and
pushing for over 15 mins before they actually started the process. Once onboard, things changed for the better.
Pleasant service with a nice meal. The cabin featured the new seats that Austrian is trumpeting about but honestly,
they are the hardest seats I have ever sat on. Legroom is tight too. No comment on the delay from the flight deck
at all. Our 2 hr connection was whittled down and we made our next flight with only a few minutes to spare. So all
in all a mixed bag but would probably fly them again.

ZRH-VIE-SKG and vv. I was happy with Austrian on these flights, the only negative was, that my connection in VIE
to SKG was 3 hrs delayed and no efficient information given. Vienna Airport definitely needs a refurbishment.
Everything looks old and worn. On the return I upgraded to Business. The lounge in Thessaloniki is handed by
Aegean Airlines. A nice cosy place with a good variety of drinks and snacks. The minus here is, that Passengers
from their Airline have direct access to a bus from the lounge. All other passengers have to go to the original gate
and board with all other passengers and this can be chaotic. I will fly with them again since they have good flight
times to SKG.

Vienna-Lyon in Economy roundtrip same day. Flights on schedule, hot and cold beverages and a small snack
(breakfast or lunch would be better). Both ground staff and cabin crew friendly and charmingly helpful. Seats and
aircraft were quite old but still ok for such a short flight.

Transatlantic Vienna to D.C. The trip was nice, seats were comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Food was
good, got lunch and a snack before landing. Complimentary red wine was lovely. Impressed with inflight
entertainment. All in all, a good trip back home from Europe.

Copenhagen to Vienna and then to JFK because our Continental Flight was cancelled. In Vienna, seats booked and
boarding passes given in Copenhagen were not recognized and we were charged for the same carry ons we used
on the first leg for which no charges imposed. Seats were worse. Long lines and rude treatment in Vienna. No
easily readable signs. Seats narrow onboard.

VIE-DEL route. It was an old aircraft. Seats uncomfortable with blankets in poor condition. No On Demand
Entertainment. 4 movies and 3 TV shows kept repetitively playing over and over again. Food was cold and
tasteless.

Vienna-Yerevan return. Business Class. Narrow and uncomfortable seats in Business even on a short haul flight -
almost no recline and for a 3.5 hr flight it's torture. Messy boarding, no priority for Business. Unfriendly staff, no
welcome drinks, no hot towels and cloth for lunch. I had to ask twice for a second glass of wine. No eye shades
available.

VIE-ZRH return. First flight on A320, return B737. Both equipped with new seats which are very pleasant with
essentially more leg room than before. Both flights were on time, crew was friendly and efficient, a snack was
offered plus free drinks. Very enjoyable.

WAW-VIE. Disorganised check-in with very long queues, onboard old and dirty plane. Friendly flight attendants for
such a short flight.
