BRU-VIE and VIE-PEK in Business class. BRU-VIE operated by Tyrolean, small Fokker 70 but excellent
catering, their Do&Co food was a very tasty Thai chicken red curry. Vienna airport has not changed,
still small and uninteresting, but spent a happy couple of hours in the large Business lounge in the
main area between the two controls. Only one small gate for VIE-PEK, "priority service" for business
in fact meant "jump the queue". Senator lounge after control was completely full as usual, so went
into the first gate, waited, then the second gate, waited, then boarded. Old B-767 but with the new
business class seats. Large screens but still these seats that are not quite flat, and space for
your feet is very small. IFE very old-fashioned, films could not be started, stopped or paused, and
it crashed regularly. Nothing much to watch in any case. Food was excellent, cabin crew attentive,
and the inflight chef breakfast was as ordered and presented very well. It is obvious that faced
with old planes and a terrible colour scheme, they have given up on everything else and have
concentrated on feeding you well. Which isn't bad - and they could make you a proper coffee, if you
wanted one, from the Viennese coffee-house concept.

Brussels-Vienna-Brussels in Economy (Red Ticket, bought less than one month in advance for 120Euros
taxes included). Airbus A-319 on both flights - a Frequent Traveller, so could use Business class
check-in and lounge. Legroom ample and seating is comfortable. Meal and drink service outstanding
for such a short flight - hot meal on both flights from Do & Co. Flight attendants very attentive.
Perfect flights and good fare - excellent value for money, I would fly Austrian again.

LHR-VIE-ESB and return business class. All fights late, regular A321 / Fokker 100 seat pitch minus
middle seat. Flight to VIE outbound had a ill passenger laid out on seats in front of mine with all
family continually mulling around pushing and shoving. VIE-LHR, the passengers from rear of plane
just came and sat in empty front seats. Extortionate fares, poor service and crew who could not
care. No choice to use them for this route but never use them for other flights. This is not
business class at all.

INN-EMA. Austrian Arrows charter flight operated by Tyrolean. Flying as it used to be. Comfortable
plane, hot meal with wine and metal cutlery. Friendly cabin crew who took polaroid photographs of
the children on board, and worked hard throughout the flight. Both outbound and return flights on
time and the F100 spotless both ways. Only a pity that the handling and car park arrangements at
East Midlands were truly shambolic.

VIE-LHR Business Class. Last minute gate change at airport immediately followed by a flight delay.
No regular updates provided on flight departure time. Once flight was ready for boarding, no
priority boarding calls by rows or class. So one mass of upset passengers surged forward to the
gate. Once onboard, no complaints. Service was excellent and the food was good. Happy to fly with
Austrian again.

LHR-VIE-DEL, return Economy. A tale of two halves. Outbound flight to Vie on standard aircraft,
served the usual sandwich with drinks. VIE-DEL not a good flight. Cabin very worn and dated, no
PTV's, overhead screens did not work properly. FA's were dismissive and non-attentive, food barely
edible. Return flight different - PTV's, great crew who did the rounds often with water and soft
drinks. I would fly them again depending on which aircraft they used. Good value for money.

12 December 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Vienna to Beijing overnight business class. The service was rather poor, I had the last seat in
Business Class 6K which meant that the food I wanted was no longer available, both for starter and
main course. Distribution of Journals ended before they got to our row. What had looked very
promising was in fact in the end rather poor service. The entertainment programm did not work very
well either.

30 November 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
VIE to BKK overnight business class. Their fancy lie flat seats should have been comfortable, but
weren't. While trying to sleep I was often awoken by cabin crew brushing into me. Don't they realise
that we are paying a vast amount of money in order to obtain something approaching a decent night's
sleep? Then, despite filling in breakfast cards well in advance, the cabin staff were unable to
provide the right breakfast for me or several people around me. One of the toilets was not working.
There is a "chef" on board but his role seems limited to wearing a puffy white hat and frying bacon.
I'm sure he's very good at it. Once again, being given a small slab of very ordinary milk chocolate
is not enough to send this customer away happy. I will not be flying Austrian business class again -
it's simply not worth it.

LHR to VIE and back. Outbound on a A321 and back on Austrian Arrows (Tyrolean) F100. Aircraft
clean, schedule met, staff pleasant both at check-in and on-board. Only marginal downsides were the
meals in each direction, somewhat indeterminate pasta but that is just our opinion so overall a good
experience and if we had a choice we would use them again. One more thing; we saved some euros by
presenting our boarding pass stubs at attractions in Vienna for free entry, the information on this
is tucked away in the in-flight magazine but not too prominently so enjoy the read!

BRU-VIE-ZAG return Economy. Nicely maintanined A319 to VIE, CRJ to ZAG. Service excellent, warm food
and even a small pastry between VIE and ZAG. FA smiling, good language skills. One hour delay coming
back in VIE, waiting for 20 transfer passengers. We were continuously informed about the situation,
cockpit was on the PA at every ten minutes with updates.

12 November 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
VIE-LCY-VIE in Economy. Austrian has added London City Airport to its network just a few days ago.
Fast connexions and cheap transfers to and from the city and a hassle free (but crowded) charming
small terminal at LCY. Austrian uses the Fokker 70 Jets for its LCY-flights. Legroom is ample and
seating is comfortable. Meal and drink service fabulous - hot breakfast on the morning flight, hot
dinner on the evening flight, from Do & Co. Flight attendants very friendly and attentive. Perfect
flights except for one thing - the terrible green, blue and red colours of the airplane interior!
Makes you want to wear sunglasses even at night.

6 November 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
VIE-PEK return in Business Class on 767. Lounge at Vienna very disappointing, not enough room, and
relatively mediocre with no showers (particularly inconvenient as I was transiting to LHR on the
return and wanted a shower to freshen up before the short hop). Boarding easy, seats angled lie flat
were narrow (2x2x2 in a 767 always is), but quite comfortable and eventually adjustable to a sleepable
position after some fidgeting. Service first class, some of the best food in business class - the
onboard chef makes a huge difference. So much choice, excellently cooked, range of coffees, drinks,
desserts, but quality also impeccable. IFE not AVOD, but choice adequate and worked, but seemed a bit
dated. Certainly would fly Austrian long haul business class again, just a shame that Vienna airport
while small and easy to transit through (in rapid time) has disappointing lounges.

BCN-VIE-ARN in Economy. Being green the cabin interior is surprising at first, but I liked it. Cabin
crew was attentive and friendly. I was even offered headphones! But the in-flight programme was the
usual ads and comics. The real plus is the snack offered by Austrian on its European flights: a hot
snack and tasty dessert prepared by Do&Co. I wish the portions were more generous. Transfer at Vienna
was seamless although the advertised 30min connecting time could be too short if there are queues both
at passport and security controls.

BKK-VIE in a Boeing 777 in business class. Lie-flat seats in a 2+2+2 layout. Seats very uncomfortable.
They are flat, but in a relative steep angle. In addition, there is no foot rest to keep you from
sliding down. Inflight entertainment not on-demand. Austrian has started a marketing campaign on
this, and there is a supposed "chef" on board, including the costume and hat. This does not reflect in
the food, however. After take-off you can fill out a form which breakfast choices for the next
morning, including how you want your eggs done, etc. Nice initiative, but when breakfast came, my eggs
were not done as requested and the hot chocolate I requested and was looking forward to never came.
When I asked, the hot chocolate "was not available on this flight". No excuses for the eggs and this
fault was not corrected. I am not a very demanding passenger normally, but I cannot avoid submitting
this relatively negative review here. Will avoid Austrian for long-haul in the future.

BRU-VIE-SZG return A321 outbound Vienna and during the Vienna-Brussels flight. Legroom was quite good
despite the economy class configuration! Meals and drinks were very good and the service was
professional. At Vienna we had a connection time of about 40 mins. whilst "running" to get our plane
(which was the last one of that day) to Brussels the crew waited to have all passengers and bags on
board.

SZG-VIE-SOF and back. Austrian has improved catering during summer. SZG-VIE is only 35 min but still
good Service. Staff friely and polite epecially Tyrolian/Arrows and Lauda Air Staff. Seats are not
comfortable on Q300/400 - old and worn out but its only a hop. To SOF on 737 or Fokker 100 they are
OK. Pricing is strange because you pay the same Economy and Business if the return flight is within
five working days so it pays off to use Business.

VIE-YYZ, in Economy on a 763. Online check-in a pain - I checked in
early to secure good seats but didn't have access to a printer. All
airlines I've travelled on prior this this allow you to easily reprint
your boarding passes from the quick check in kiosks, however with
Austrian, I could only access one boarding pass and not my travel
partner's. We ended up having to line up anyway to get this second pass
printed out. Boarding the plane, we were quite disappointed to find out
it was an antique, Star Alliance-branded plane, which looked as if it
hadn't been updated in about 20 years. It must have been a used plane
acquired from KLM, as the toilet signs were in English and Dutch.
Service decent enough, FAs were a bit brusque (probably frazzled by the
noise problem) but the food was of better quality than most airlines.

LCA-VIE-GRZ return, economy class. First leg on A319. FAs were efficient
enough, though they seemed to try to remain invisible for as long as
possible. The breakfast was mixed. As always on Austrian, the bread was
fresh and delicious. The transfer in Vienna was smooth (if prolonged).
Second leg (30-minute hop) on CRJ-200. In comparison to the first
flight, the (only) FA was friendly and chatty. I was surprised that we
were served pastries (very fresh) and water and/or coffee. My only
complaint about the return leg is that although Austrian advertises that
you can smoothly connect flights in 30 minutes at VIE, I was there for
an hour and a half and still my luggage remained in Vienna! It was
delivered to me the next morning.

LHR-BKK Business. Flight was outstanding all the way. 40 mins connection
in Vienna which was suprising. Very attentive staff and excellent food.
New speciality coffee menu was original and choice of food very good.
Usual business seat configuration to Vienna ie. three seats with the
middle kept free but still had good legroom. Vienna onwards in true
business class. Comfortable flat bed seats although the 2-3-2
configuration was a bit strange. Clean, smart cabin on both planes. Good
choice of entertainment and absolutely nothing at all to complain about.
They may become my preferred choice in future.

Larnaca to Vienna, business class – 3 key facts describe the abysmal
level of business class service with Austrian Airlines: their business
seats are exactly the same as economy, with the middle seat left open -
there is not even an effort to widen the seats with special armrests,
and no middle table. They serve wine from 1 liter bottles, closed with
plastics caps – and the wine effectively tasted like coming from the
cheap supermarket. There is no menu, no drink list, no pillow, no
blanket, and the food is barely eatable. Definitively one of my worst
business class experience - and we don't talk about a short hop, but a 3
hours flight.

BKK to BRU via VIE in economy. Check in at Bangkok a mess due to
computer failure. Long lines even at business counter (have senator
card) because all boarding passes had to be written by hand! Flight to
Vienna on old 777 with very narrow seats in economy (10 abreast). Crew
friendly and efficient. Dinner and drinks were poor but breakfast ok.
Vienna senator lounge ugly but nice food and drinks, even hot breakfast!
Vienna to Brussels, 737 from Lauda Air. Flight almost empty. Worn out
interior but crew cheerful and great food and drinks - hot breakfast
with eggs, tomato and ham! All in all a not too bad experience but
Austrian should take better care of its senator card holders by at least
giving them decent seats even if travelling in economy..

Just flown long haul with Austrian on their Boeing 777 aircraft. Very

IST-VIE-MUC. Actually Tyrolean the whole way in economy. Surprisingly
good, in comparison to the LH product on this route. Unsmiling but
polite, hardworking FAs, who managed a meal service in the CRJ in
moderate to bad turbulence over the alps. Food better than LH, wine
worse. Turquoise seats, yellow antimacassars, sky blue touches, and that
OS red, - but please OS, tone it down a bit. But the price, about 200
Euros less than LH makes up for the color madness, and of course there's
always the porno shop at VIE to while away the hours in transit. Not at
all bad Austrian.

Moscow-Vie-GVA and return in Economy. Have Senator card, priority check-
in without waiting. Departure and arrival on time on all sectors. A320
from Moscow to Vienna must have been refurbished and they squeezed an
extra two rows in with tightening pitch to LCC levels. Food tasty.
Showed Wild Hogs on drop down TVs. From Vie to Gva on CRJ-50. They
managed a hot meal during such a short flight - a nice touch. Service
mechanical and unsmiling. Gva to Vie on DH-8. Again, a hot meal was
served. Had no idea they had full galleys on those noisy planes. Vie-
Moscow on A321 with generous pitch. Especially chirpy crew with Do&Co
catering - just like the old Lauda Air days. We used telephone check-in
on all 4 sectors - a handy feature. OS has good frequency to Moscow and
this year a decent airport at Domodedovo.

Have been nicely surprised by the new Austrian Economy product for
shorthaul flights. Last week I was off to Berlin. The flights were
operated by Austrian Arrows F100 & F70 aircraft. Very comfortable.
Outward we got a snack box consisting of a fruit salad and some ham and
cheese. A hot croissant also served. Coffee, Tea and cold drinks
followed. On the way back, dinner was a snack box of a ham salad and
apple strudl. A warm bred was served. Free alcohol and soft drinks were
available. This is a great improvement from the Buy on Board which was
unpopular with those high prices in Economy.

DEL-VIE. Full redeye flight. 45min delay due to too many bags in the
cargohold compared to manifest. Had a window seat with the toilet behind
me. Constant flushing noise from behind and seat couldn't recline very
far because of the wall. Next to no legroom. Inflight entertainment,
lights and assistance call button for the my seat and set aisle seat
next to me stopped working during the security briefing. Flight
attendants said they would try to fix it and would get back to us within
10 minutes, but nothing happened, and when queried 3 hours later we were
told they couldn't fix it while in the air. I sleep badly in planes, so
I had 9 hours of staring into the seat in front of me as I could not use
inflight entertainment and could not read due to no lights. No
flashlight provided, no extra checkups from flight attendants even if we
couldn't call for help, no compensation offered. Very disappointed.

LIN-VIE and back in Economy. Everything OK: both flights arrived on
time, ground staff in Vienna attentive, snacks served onboard were tasty
and crew friendly. The aircraft was a quite new CRJ-200LR - with more
legroom than expected, a perfect solution for such a short 1h15 min
flight! I am happy to have chosen OS instead of Ryanair for my weekend
away - you do not only have to consider the cost of the ticket when
booking and for sure I will fly again Austrian in the future.

Hanover-Kiew-Berlin in economy. My first Austrian flight since about six
years and pretty impressed. The new food-boxes with postcards on top are
fabulous. Delicious meals on all sectors, even the short ones. FAs
friendly and helpful, uniforms are pretty but I got used to them after a
while. The cabin could get an upgrade, as those green seats look rather
ugly. A big plus is the quick transfer and good shopping facilities at
VIE. The AUA Business Lounge is amazing.

25 April 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
IAD-VIE and return in economy class, 767. My advance seat assignments
were honored on the outbound leg, but others had problems getting seat
assignments and there seemed to be confusion at check-in with several
passengers discovering onboard they had been assigned the same seat.
Boarding process chaotic, only the highest rows were called, then it was
a free-for-all. Seats in economy comfortable but legroom was tight. The
most bothersome thing was that the seats hardly recline at all, very
difficult to endure for an 8-9 hour flight. The footrest is nice in its
down position, but hits your shins when up. Flight attendants were very
attentive, came around many times with water and beverages throughout
the flght. Food was a hot meal for dinner, choice of chicken or pasta,
one of the best airline meals I've ever had - free wine throughout the
flight in economy, and fresh bread served with the meal. I really
enjoyed it! Cold breakfast was served before landing, a roll with meats
and cheeses, was also quite good. Hot towels given to passengers also.
Flight was slightly delayed on departure due to the seating mix-up, but
we arrived on time in VIE. Return trip on time, boarding again
disorganized, food excellent again and staff very friendly and helpful.
I had an aisle seat this time which gave better legroom than the window
seat on the way over. I had considered spending the money for business
class, but when I saw how small the business seats were, was glad I
hadn't done so. Be warned that international arrivals in IAD are very
poorly organized by the airport, you have to know if your bags were
checked to IAD only or through to your final destination, as it changes
where you go when you get off the plane. Listening to the Austrian
representative try to explain all this was quite interesting!

VIE-ARN in economy class. Flight was on-time and operated by an A319
with comfortable seats and ample legroom. Catering has improved and is

negative side was the boarding at Vienna airport. I boarded in the B
gates area. Security control was fast, but the area itself was
overcrowded and offered very limited seating capacities.

BRU-VIE-IST and back April 2007. Outbound flights good, both Airbus
320/319. Flew cheapest economy so was impressed to get a hot small meal
on both legs, one meat, one fish. No choice but good for the timing. Box
of the snack had a cover which doubled as a postcard, which Austrian
would post for free, nice touch. On return was Fokker 100/70 operated
Tyrolean but as Austrian Arrows. Had checked in online, our boarding
passes were waiting at the Business class desk ready printed (as I have
Silver M&M card). Again good meals, good service. Shame about the green

Regular traveller from VIE to JFK with Austrian, business class. The
service and food are good but so they should be with all the money they
have saved by flying old Lauda B767s, presumably bought 2nd hand off KLM
as they have very old Dutch signs in the (grotty) toilets. I try to
choose another airline despite then having to do a stopover, because the
seats are dreadful. I have slept better in many other airlines'
economy. It is simply not worth the cost - and with the new open skies
agreement I hope they will improve with competition.

Male-Vienna, Economy on 767. Seat comfort much better than on their 777.

Economy DXB-VIE-DXB. I have flown with austrian on this route on a few
occasions, mainly because of good connections from VIE to VCE. However,
on the DXB/VIE sector they use a 737 which isn't really acceptable for a
six hour flight, especially when most of their competition use wide body
aircraft. All very average, average food, average service. Since when
have FA's for Austrian been wearing black jeans? Safe, reliable, but
nothing apart from that. VIE airport is a joy to transfer at though.

Business MUC-VIE-SYD and return. Very nice and friendly crews on all
flights. The new long haul seats are a little narrow. If using the
table, you can't change the seat position. That's a real disadvantage.
Stopover in Kuala Lumpur badly organised, all passengers going on to
Sydney or Vienna have to leave the A/c, no hint to the possibility using
the business-class waiting lounge, long security check queue before re-
entering the A/C. Here some Austrian staff could pick up the C-class-
passengers on time avoiding the queue. The cook on board is really good,
the food excellent. Check-in-procedure in in Sydney took more then 25
minutes because the entire crew stepped in front of me without asking
and apology.

Business Class LHR-VIE-KUL return. Just returned from trip and must
report 2 fairly poor experiences. On 16/12 flew out to Vienna in
business class - 2 abreast with very comfortable seating, good service
and food. VIE to KUL was an average flight with uncomfortable new
angled seats, average attention from crew and fair food. On return
flight from KUL to VIE the crew were busy chatting amongst themselves,
few refreshments and food was poor. On both long haul flights the films
on offer were dire. VIE to LHR was abysmal. Seating reconfigured to 3
abreast just like economy and crew disinterested. Never again.

inadequate. VIE-BOM segments the 767s in new configuration. There a
personal IFE with 9 main channels & live camera views. The cabins were
clean. Meals & drinks were complimentary. Meal service included a choice
of 2 warm entrees. The service provided by FAs was exceptional. They
were warm & courteous. VIE is a very convenient airport to travel

JFK-VIE-SOF-VIE-JFK on Economy. The long haul flights were punctual, in-
flight entertainment adequate, catering superior to other European
carriers. Planes are clean and the new cabin design is refreshing. A
pleasant surprise was the abandonment of the infamous Bistro Service and
it's replacement by warm meals and drinks, alcohol included, for no
charge. Vienna airport seemed more organized, no queues or delays of any
kind, despite the heightened security measures and high volumes of
Christmas traffic. Having the most competitive fares for Transatlantic

Amsterdam-Vienna-Krakow and vice versa. Excellent service and 3 out of 4
meals were pretty alright (normally I cannot eat any flight meal). The
FA's were friendly and helpful. Seating in the small Bombardier aircraft
is very tight but for a 50 minute flight this is not a problem at all.
The seating in a Fokker-100 was decent.

Having travelled over the past 15 months quite a few times on AUA long
haul to India, China, Malaysia and Thailand I can only confirm a lot of
the previous postings. Food was usually excellent, the cabin service
mostly ok (not always unfortunately). Main point of complaint is the
standard of their planes. Aircraft used (on these flights) are often
old LAUDA planes e.g. rather ancient 777 and 767. The actual age of a
plane normally does not say much about the quality BUT if I (or my
company) buy a business class ticket for 2000 or 3000 Euro I rightly
expect a modern seat fully reclinable and not a worn out and wobbly and
rattling old thing without sufficient footrests. To be honest I have
slept more comfortably in economy class of certain airlines than in an
AUA business class seat. The standard of the inflight entertainment
system has not yet arrived in the 21st century either. One more word
about the on board chef (business class) on certain routes. This is
great and you really get a fantastic meal on these flights. However -
and this shows the lack of planning at this airline - this is definitely
not necessary on relatively short overnight flights e.g. Delhi - Vienna
where you depart Delhi around 1.30 hrs in the morning. Surely at that
time of the day (or night ?) not too many people care about a 5 or 6
course meal which goes on forever just to be woken up again after two
hours sleep for a wonderful breakfast which you hardly manage to get
down before landing.

VIE-SIN in Economy class. Seats are comfortable. Inflight food is good.
Entertainment program can be improved. Unfortunately cabin staff service
is horrible. Many times, when passengers call for an attendant by
pressing the button, there is no one attending to you. Cabin staff
passes by you but never respond to the attendant request light. Many
times, I saw passenger pressing the button again and again (giving a
beep sound each time) but they still do not attend to the passenger. My
personal experience as follows: I wanted drinking water and when I press
the button, as expected, no one attended to me. I called them, one of
them turn to me and say "later" then walk off. (Please note that the
attendant light is still on). The second time, I decided to stop them by
touching them, they pretended not to know and walk straight off. I was
furious and walk after her to the kitchen area just to get my drinking
water!

JFK-VIE-JFK in business class. On JFK-VIE portion, aircraft was a Lauda
Air plane (767) which looked to be a good 15+ years old. Minimal
storage facilities, sink in bathroom did not work, toilet odor was
pungent, many people did not get coffee in morning because according to
crew, "hot water was not working". Check-in agent at JFK was rude. Crew
service on-board was good, though. On VIE-JFK leg, OS had their own
aircraft on route (767), which was newer and we also had good service on
board. Check-in agent not courteous and did not put priority tag on
checked baggage, VIE Airport is chaotic at gate with log-jam and no
separate entry was provided for business class. Overall needs
improvement in business class product.

Business flight Zurich-Vienna-Phuket-Vienna-Zurich. After the first leg
we had to stay 11 hours at Vienna airport caused through a technical
defect; second leg in a worn-out B767 without any entertainment; third
leg with a modern B767 very comfortable and very good food; 4th leg in a
Fokker 70 without business and without a comment or an excuse!

SYD-KUL-VIE in business. Good sized seats (better than Qantas), and
terrific inflight catering. However Austrian fell short on expectations
on a few basic problems. Bathrooms did not have any paper towels (I
don't want to dry my hands with tissues thank you). Inflight
entertainment was limited to perhaps no more than fifteen films (less
than half of them were recent blockbuster types). Vienna airport
business class lounge was cramped and spartan (the Air New Zealand
lounge in Sydney was a considerably better place to rest)
