SYD-ICH-SEA return in Business class. Friendly and very expert staff. It's the little touches that
take this airline from "great" to "excellent". The seat comfort and entertainment system is superb:
the seat-back screens are the largest in any airline. I had the older aircraft for one leg: sure,
it's not as good as their new ones, but it's still way ahead of the offering on other airlines. The
food is so good I stuffed myself and began declining courses! Yes, they probably don't need a long-
winded explanation in Korean and English each time the captain turns on the seatbelt sign. But if
that's the worst thing about the airline then we don't have a lot to complain about! Unreserved
recommendation.

Incheon-Narita in Economy class. First time to fly Asiana and can easily see why it is rated a
5-star airline. Boarding began half hour before scheduled time. Newspapers available outside the
door of plane. Two cabin attendants helped me put bags in overhead bin. Delicious meal served
promptly. Cabin attendants dressed beautifully, charming and all lined up to say good bye at the
end. Can only imagine what business and first class are like.

LHR-ICN-SYD return Business Class. Asiana flies into and out of Heathrow Terminal 1, so avoiding
the dreaded Terminal 3. On the outward journey, drop-off to lounge took just 15 minutes, and on
return touch-down to car-park 45 mins: excellent! Flying through Incheon, rather than say over-
crowded Dubai, another bonus. Check-in at all three airports was fast, efficient and friendly. On
flights themselves, cabin staff could not have been better, European food was absolutely splendid
(can't comment on Korean, as we have no other experience of it), and seats were comfortable enough.
We didn't use the entertainment system. The only bad point was on the return journey when, although
both flights were day-time, the crew lowered the blinds and turned off the lights for almost the
whole time, which we both found claustrophobic. When we raised the blind ourselves on the SYD-ICN
leg, we were immediately asked to lower it again, although this didn't happen when over Europe we
did the same and made it clear it was because we wanted to see the ground below. The overnight stay
in Seoul involved a one hour each way journey: a bit of a drag, but bearable – certainly better than
flying straight through. The Royal Seoul Hotel was 4-star, room OK except nowhere to put suitcases,
and breakfast good (we didn't have dinner having been adequately fed on the plane!). Altogether we
were very happy with the Asiana experience, and would have given 5 stars were it not for the daytime
darkness on the return flights.

Sydney-Incheon-Heathrow Economy class. Checked in at Sydney after a Qantas flight from Auckland,
the difference in the attitude of Asiana FA's was amazing - warm, smiling, and helpful! They offer
newspapers as you're boarding, but these are in Korean - an English language copy would be nice.
Unfortunately the three of us travelling together ended up in different seats due to Sydney airport
transfer staff. FA's were busy through the flight, and very and quick and attentive when needed.
Food great, and amenity packs were good too. Flight announcements are long-winded being in Korean
first then English, and sometimes the FA's had a bit of difficulty understanding what we wanted.
Overnight stop at Incheon was in a generic but nice hotel only a few minutes from the airport. Next
day at check in we asked if the three of us that were travelling together could get seats together.
No problem, the nice attendant put us up in business class which made the trip through to LHR much
more palatable. All in all, I'd definitely fly with Asiana again, and readily recommend them.

Sydney to Seoul Boeing 777 in Business Class. The service could not be faulted and food was good
with more than you could eat on offer. Drinks flowed freely and top-ups did not need to be asked
for. The seats were pod style, but as others have mentioned, the angle made it difficult for me to
get real quality sleep. The other disappointing aspect of this flight is no AVOD even though their
in-flight magazine advises the B777 has this available. This particular airplane obviously had an
older system so the movie and audio choices were very limited.

MNL-ICN-JFK return Business Class. MNL-ICN and back both used the newer seats, which were very
comfortable. I found myself enjoying sleeping on my side, which I didn't expect on an angled lie-
flat seat. The service was amazing. The staff, cutlery, china, food and wine selection were fit
for First Class of many other airlines. On the longer legs (ICN-JFK), I was looking forward to
getting the newer seats with AVOD, but instead discovered that I got the older aircraft on BOTH
legs. Apparently, I managed to choose flight dates on the only day of the week that they use the
older aircraft (Friday). Do call Asiana before booking your flight dates, to make sure you don't
use the older plane. I still managed to get over 4 hours of sleep on the older seats, which is more
than I can say for the other angled lie-flats I've tried. Service was again amazing. The only
inconsistency was the absence of pre takeoff champagne and toiletry kits on the JFK-ICN leg, which I
found strange. Meals on all legs were superb. The wine selection was quite impressive. However, I
still recommend the Korean meals over the Western meals. The lounge in JFK was decent, with on-order
food service. Food was just decent. No showers. The lounge in ICN was large and quite crowded in
the afternoon, but extremely peaceful in the morning. The shower was perfect - extremely spacious,
with all the amenities a traveler needs. ICN lounge also has slumber rooms, which were very private
and with excellent massage chairs in each one. I used my boarding pass to check out the Singapore
Airlines lounge as well - they didn't have shower rooms or sleeping rooms. Asiana also had many
more internet terminals than the Raffles Class lounge.

JFK–ICN First Class. The First Class Lounge in Terminal 4 of JFK is pretty nice. The service is
excellent with a menu of hot food choices. Internet connection is free in the lounge and worked
well. 747-400 with new offering in first class, equipped with 10 suites. The feeling is very roomy,
although there is some lack of privacy. If you really want private space, try seats 1A or 1K as
these are the farthest apart from one another and privacy is the best. The new First Class is a
suite with a flat bed. The seating position is good, but not great. The table seems a little high
for my tastes when eating or using a laptop, but overall space is excellent. The crew is terrific,
there were 8 of us in the first class cabin and we had 3 flight attendants! The Asiana service is
spectacular. I was offered a sleep suit before take-off. The seat had a small gift and slippers
already there. You also receive a nice gift before the end of the flight. The meals offered were
excellent. Crew was very attentive and you were not left to wonder when you were going to get
service. The new cabin has VOD, although it was not working for the first couple of hours for some
reason. The travel map and flight information is very good and we did take the polar route on this
flight. I highly recommend this First Class flight on Asiana Airlines from JFK to ICN.

ICN-JFK Business. 747-400PAX with new interior Asiana calls it "Transform". Upper deck 2x2 config
with 6 rows of individual pod lie-flat seats with 15" touch screen AVOD. Angled lie-lat doesn't
impress me much since my heavy body tends to slide downward but it's much more comfortable than old
recliners. Inflight service is just perfect. FA's were there when you needed them but never
intrusive. First meal was a choice of Korean bulgogi and vegetable wrap or full course gourmet fish
or beef. The second one was a choice of Korean congee or Italian risotto. The risotto I had was
probably the best I had in my life.

JFK-ICN 747, very clean as always. Great staff, friendly and efficient. Food is fine. Old school B-
Class seats, and no PVOD the main drawbacks. Recline and comfort level are OK, but for a 14Hr night
flight, they dont offer enough pitch or privacy. 777's running flights around Asia have newer 'pod'
seats. Lie flat' would make the perfect option for NY departures to Asia.

LHR-ICN-SYD return in Business Class, a warm welcome, by name when you arrive on
board with a nice glass of champagne as you sit down. The service on 4 legs was
exceptional, the crew always have a smile on their faces without it being false
like some airlines I could mention and nothing is too much trouble. The food
both Western and Korean was delicious with a good selection of wines served, as
you would expect at a pace that suits you. The seats are comfortable but the
lack of AVOD was a disapointment, my wife however found the seats very
comfortable for sleeping. To the staffs credit they kept the whole cabin
supplied with drinks and snacks without us ever having to press the service
button. Even when the cabin lights were down and most people were asleep they
would be quietly moving in and out of the cabin to check if anybody required
anything. On the return leg Asiana provide an overnight stop in Seoul, with all
due respect I would have expected to have a dedicated bus for Business Class
passengers, both classes were herded onto a poor quality coach which then took
an hour and twenty minutes to get to the downtown Seoul hotel. This certainly
did not feel like a Business Class service. Overall the service/food & drink was
5 star and we would certainly use Asiana again.

LHR-ICN-SYD return in business class - service was excellent. There was a choice
of Western and Korean food for each main meal, and both were very good. There
was also a wide range of decent snacks available between meals. Cabin crew
service spectacular - I rarely needed the call button as they were in the cabin
so much, but when I did press it, I was served within about 5 seconds every
time! We were addressed by name and personally thanked by the purser for
selecting Asiana. The lounge at Seoul is very good with a wide range of food and
drinks available, and excellent showers; at SYD Asiana uses the Qantas lounge,
which is also good, but at LHR the BMI lounge, which is basic. On the downside,
I found I tended to slide down the angled lie flat seat (in my opinion the
angled seats on some other carriers are better); none of the aircraft had the
new AVOD system, and the choice of films on the old system was a bit limited for
such a long journey - take a good book. That said, I would have no hesitation in
using Asiana again if the fare was good value, especially when they finish
installation of the AVOD system.

FRA-ICN-PVG-ICN-FRA (C long-haul, Y short-haul). The nicest experience I made
for a long time regarding the inflight-service, quality and standard. Could not
have nicer and more attentive service or better food. AVOD system very good. You
never need to use the call-button as there is presence in the cabin every few
minutes. 5* in the air but very disappointed of ground services: overall - no
through check-in even with Star Alliance Partner Lufthansa or Codeshare Partner
China Eastern possible. Due to delay suitcase missed but lousy service from
FRAPORT as agent of Asiana in Frankfurt. Such a great experience in the air but
such a disappointment on the ground.

12 March 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
LHR-ICN-LHR Business class 777. Business seats roomy angled lie flat type of
seats in 2-3-2 config. Try to avoid the "E" seat which is in the middle for
maximum space. The seat is quite comfy for sitting and lounging in but not
brilliant for sleeping in the fully reclined position as I got the feeling I was
slipping down. On the way to Seoul the IFE was AVOD but on the way home was
tapes on a loop. Selection of films ok. Service from the crew was warm and
friendly and they kept patrolling the cabin at regular intervals. Menu had a
good choice of food, Korean options tasty and filling as were the western
options. The service had many nice touches that made it seemed like first class,
adding sauce to meals in front of you, no sugar in packets. Toilets kept clean
and well stocked through the flight with good range of amenities in them, combs,
mouthwash, toothbrushes, cologne etc. Overall condition of plane impressive,
looked clean and well maintained and all flights were on time. Great trip and
would choose them again and if they had non angled seats would give them 5 and
half stars.

24 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
SYD-ICN-LHR Economy return. All 777's with 3-3-3 seats, better than Emirates who
have 3-4-3 on same plane. Legroom and seat width OK. Four of us travelled
together and got rows 32, 34 and 42 even with early check in. FA's friendly and
helpful, with regular water patrols, but their English fluency was a little
limited. They frequently refreshed the lavatories. Food OK, Western option ran
out on one leg, Korean food options OK, but Bibimbap and kimchi are never going
to be the next big thing. AVOD on last flight, others were 2.5 hour looped.
Movie selection was OK as time fillers. Many long winded PA announcements (eg
about inflight duty free) were made without pausing the movies which was a
little irritating. The cabin temperature was way too hot on all flights and this
affected comfort levels. The trip included overnight hotel in Seoul was fine but
was in the city center, a 1.5 hour bus trip from the airport. The hotel food
(dinner and breakfast) was pre-prepared and although I guess they meant well, it
was pretty poor. Breaking the SYD-LHR flight in Seoul works well though and I
added a one day Seoul stopover on the way back to visit the DMZ. Would consider
this again for my next Europe trip.

MNL-ICN-UUS several times since August last year. The lounge in Manila is a
shared one, but the food on offer is terrible. The internet connection is
invariably down. Inflight the menu is ok but doesn't vary when I've been flying
the route. Only 12 Business class seats on MNL-ICN and ICN-UUS routes, making it
difficult to book B Class - larger and a more leg room than economy, but no
other advantages. I arrived at ICN from Manila at 4.30am, tired from lack of
sleep to find the Business Class lounge closed till 5.30am! The lounge has a
poor selection of food and the salad bar has invariably run out or almost.

MNL-ICN-UUS (Russia), both Business and Economy. Excellent punctuality. A little
cramped in the back but very spacious in Business. Food and Wine selection in
Business is always excellent, though it doesn't vary too much, but their Steak
Dinners with excellent starters are still amongst the best airline meals
anywhere. Efficient and courteous cabin service in both cabins. IFE System on
A320 is poor. Business Lounges in both ICN and MNL are above average.

Economy Class LAX to Hong Kong. The service on all legs was one of the best I’ve
had. FA’s were very attentive and responded immediately to calls. They all spoke
English and had a smile on their face. The food was very good on the trip over
to Hong Kong and okay on the return flight. Flying through Seoul is very easy as
the international terminal is laid our very well and transfers were very easy.
The only problem is they don’t seem to guarantee your seat request. I made the
request about 5 months in advance and confirmed but when arriving at Los Angeles
was told it was only a request. Subsequently were placed in the very last row of
the plane. The supervisor did however make sure we were in our requested seats
on the connection flight. The woman at the transfer desk in Seoul told us that
she would confirm our return seats later in the week for our return flight.
Which she did. We did make sure we arrived to the airport a little early for our
return flight to make sure we received good seats, which we did. So knowing that
little trick helps.

9 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Business Class LHR-ICN then ICN-SYD. Both flights were on 777's with upgraded
cabins and the lie- flat seats. To echo the comments of others I would highly
recommend the Asiana service as a best in class offering. Full electronic
control of seat configuration with four preset positions available at the touch
of a button. This can then be adjusted further with individual controls for seat
back angle, foot rest angle and height and arm rest height. Very comfortable
although there were two negatives for me; first the lie-flat is at about a 23
degree angle to the floor, so although the seat is flat you are not horizontal
which was not comfortable for sleeping. Secondly the foot rest is very narrow (5
cm) which made it uncomfortable for me to get my feet completely rested. It's
also metal and doesn't compare to say UA's solution which allows you to position
your feet totally flat against the rest. Still managed to sleep 4 hours on each
flight. The crew were excellent. Can't rate them any higher and certainly bear
no comparison to the often miserable FA's on some Euro and US based carriers.
Always smiling, helpful, attentive and unobtrusive. Their English was a little
lacking but not enough to cause any major issue. Food was superb. As others have
mentioned the Korean menus are definitely worth trying. Fortunately my wife was
with me which allowed us to try both Western and 3 of the Korean options. As
good as the Korean food was I have to say the Beef that was the staple of the
Western menu's was superb and cooked to a perfect pink Medium. Wine selection
was decent if a little limited. Other points worth noting. AVOD was
dissapointing. Selection of "blockbusters" was poor with only around 6 to choose
and of them I was only interested in a few. On the ICN-SYD there was no VOD only
rolling content on around 16 channels. Screen is huge though at 15". The cabin
itself is small, only 4 rows of a 2x3x2 config which gives it a nice and
exclusive feel. Toilets were only on one side of the cabin meaning that you have
to go via the galley if you are on the wrong side, however the FA's regularly
service the toilets cleaning and restocking them, which is a great touch.
Overall, highly recommended - I hope to repeat the experience soon!

Taipei to Seoul Incheon, Business Class. Absolutely brilliant - we had never
flown Asiana before and were a little dubious. Our concerns were unfounded. The
meal service was truly delicious - I would have been happy even had I been
served that meal on the ground. The flight attendants were very attentive and
pleasant and when they learned it was my husband's birthday, brought us both
playing cards and pens and stationery. They thanked us for being good passengers
and for thanking them (!) and, while that was totally unnecessary because I
think we were just returning their politeness, it was a really pleasant touch.
All in all, a great experience - I definitely will consider them for long-haul
travel given this brief experience.
