LHR-LAX-LAS-LAX-LHR - Economy. LHR-LAX. Checking at T3 at Heathrow was a breeze. Flight boarded
late. Plane clean, but blanket had a yoghurt stain on it. The pillow also had been used with the
blanket as it had red fur on it. Lunch ok, but very small portions. Mid way through the flight there
was a snack and beverage run. The snack was cheese biscuits and a chocolate. The pre landing snack
was a pizza, but was so hot it melted my cheap plastic fork! The crew were indifferent. Hard to get
a smile out of them. T4 at LAX was nice. We rushed through immigration to make our connecting AE
flight (1hr 50min connecting time, cut down to 1hr by the time we landed). Had to collect bags and
re scan them for the transfer. Shuttle bus to AE terminal. LAX-LAS American Eagle. Flight delayed
about an hour. Surely they would have known that when we arrived so we didn't need to rush so much.
Short flight with 1 crew doing a drinks run. She'd done 6 flights that day and still smiling! Plane
a bit tatty. Arrived at LAS and 1 bag was missing. The bag that arrived had been opened by the TSA.
Baggage Service staff efficient and friendly and said it would probably come on the first flight the
next day (this was the last AA flight) or an another carrier. It was at the hotel first thing the
next day and hadn't been opened by the TSA. LAS-LAX. Fun check in staff at LAS. Bit confusing how
you check in at the kiosks and then wait for your name to be called to drop your bags! Left bags
with screener and wondered if we'd see them again. Security at LAS took 30 mins to get through. Full
flight. Beverage run only. Crew and plane ok for such a short flight. LAX-LHR. Joined the "manual"
check in desk queue that moved ever so slowly. Then told by a queue guard that we can use the kiosk.
Checked in 5 mins after that! Security took about 10 mins to clear into T4. Nice terminal, could do
with a few more shops though! Food on onboard this time was poor. Crew slightly more pleasant.
Breakfast not very substantial. All bags arrived. Including the extra one with all the additional
shopping. Entertainment on the international sectors was fine, but roll on AVOD. I really hate
finishing a movie then having to wait 20 mins for the next batch to begin. Also everyone gets up to
go to the loo at the same time! The free earphones supplied are poor. Had to turn them up full to
hear. Bought a set of Bose (£100 cheaper than in the UK!) and what a difference. I'm surprised that
there weren't more beverage runs. On similar length flights I've done to Australia via Asia, the
crew there are passing through the cabin every couple of hours with water or juice. Also, most of
these carriers have a snack bar set up in the galley between meals. Here, there were the left over
bread rolls (in packaging) from the main meal and on the last leg, the packaged cookies. There was
also some juice and water bottles. If I hadn't gone to the loo, I wouldn't have known about them!
Also, there are no amenity kits handed out (socks, earplugs, eyeshades, toothbrush, etc). Seats were
fine, but be warned if you are on the outer seats 3 or 4 rows from back. The plane body narrows and
you are on an angle to the rest of the plane. Only noticed it on the ground and not while flying.
2-5-2 seating config. I booked my seats 4 months out and for mid week flights nearly all the window
seats had gone. Would I fly them again? Price, destination, and frequent flyer points will answer that!

JFK-STT by way of SJU. Why did I book AA? Check-in at JFK was painless, although I stood in
security for over and hour (no fault of AA). Flew on A300 coach. One beverage run with the only
option of food at a cost of $5 which sucked. After that, never saw the FA's again until our initial
descent into San Juan. My seat wouldn't recline. Got into SJU where to no surprise, my American
Eagle flight was delayed. Sat in the AE corridor for over 3 hours before the flight was finally
moved to an ATR that had recently came out of maintenance. We were all rushed on the plane to only
find out that one of the pilots had timed out so we were deplaned and taken back to the terminal.
OK, so this whole time, they didn't know that the guy would be illegal shortly? One hour later, the
plane from SXM came in and we finally got on and took our short 22 minute flight to St. Thomas.

ORD-LHR return - Upgrade to Business - I enjoyed the flights on AA for the first time in a very long while, although whoever designed the new shell type seats in Business Class must have had a non-human in mind. Although roomy, there is no way to get comfortable in that seat, sleeping or awake. FA's were pleasant, polite and provided
excellent service with decent food and plenty of libation. They did drop the ball on the
initial arrival at HTW where a wheel chair should have been waiting. Sent me on the shuttle to the
terminal saying there would be someone to meet me, but merely a ploy to get me off
their hands. It's still every man for himself with AA!

LHR-ORD-DFW and back in Economy. After this experience, I'm surprised anyone would want to fly AA on
a transatlantic sector. I travelled on their 777 service - seat config is horrid at 2x5x2. Feel
sorry for the person stuck in the middle of 5 seats. Why AA adopted this config is hard to imagine
as it makes the cabin feel smaller than a comparable 3x3x3. Food was terrible and what made it
worse was the $5 charge of alcoholic drinks. The only saving grace was the pizza snack just prior
to landing which was ok, but after spending nearly 6hrs without any food or water, I suppose
anything tastes nice. AA markets the LHR-ORD-DFW as a continuous service. All passengers
travelling to DFW missed their connection due to lengthy queues in immigration. Return flight just
as bad, in fact worse. Service on ORD-LHR was very poor.

PHX-DFW-LGW roundtrip economy class. S80 from PHX-DFW are getting a bit old and worn. Seats are
real uncomfortable, but for a 2 hour long flight it gets you by. Complimentary soft drink on the
domestic legs, but no snacks. DFW-LGW both directions on 777's. Seating configuration 2x5x2.
Myself and my traveling companion booked the double seat and had a pretty comfortable flight. IFE
pretty good. The food in both directions was horrible. I strongly recommend eating before getting
on the flight. USD $5 for alcohol so no free drinks here. Overall a pretty good experience, but you
can find better comforts with other airlines. I would only recommend them if the price is right &
if flying on the 777's.

LHR-JFK-EZE Round Trip. Unusual routing perhaps but cheapest ticket going with short notice. Having
read a lot of the comments on here I was curious to see what American would be like not having used
them for over 5 years. All flights were full and on 2 occassions oversold and scouting for people to
change plans. LHR-JFK round trips were on 777's, comfortable enough and with good leg room, although
their International Flagship meal service is laughable. They charge for drinks, although their
Shiraz was not bad. There was no drinks service during the flight or passing through the aisles
aside from the 2 meal runs. JFK-EZE round trips on tired 767s. " Fasten Seat belt whilst seated"
stitched into the seating makes the aircraft looks even older than it was. Again meal service barely
adequate, and IFE was hopeless. All flights on time and a generous baggage allowance of 46kg from
the UK was very useful and were plus points. Crew were so so, neither one way or the other on all
flights, but overall impression was of tired and old aircraft and inflight service paired back to
the very minimum - but you get what you pay for .

I was misfortunate to have used American Airlines in the sense that I was travelling from Dublin to
Buenos Aires and would have been wiser to have used Iberia, (it would have been half the cost and
more importantly half the time). I had a wonderful start to the flight from Dublin to JFK with Aer
Lingus. However on arrival in JFK I found myself having to recheck in my luggage, that had already
been checked through by Aer Lingus to Buenos Aires! (I'm aware that one has to claim ones luggage
when one lands in the States and I actually approve of this. But then its usually conveyed to your
next flight. Not so for me! Therein commenced my problems with American Airlines. Three people found
themselves in my situation and we went to the AAdvantage Desk to recheck our luggage for the flight
to Buenos Aires. One hour and thirty five minutes later I got my luggage checked in. And I was the
first in that queue! There was an "attitude problem" with the ground staff which they inflicted on
us. Like other passenger comments and experiences with AA and FA's I too, experienced all of that
on the outward leg of the trip. The food was diabolical - and this was a longhaul flight! They
should be highly embarrassed. On thereturn fight, compliments this time to the FA's and at least the
aircraft was newer and cleaner. All in all, I arrived back exhausted and then had a 13 hour wait for
my flight to Dublin. I threw my AAdvantage Gold card into a bin. I would not even award them 1 Star.

LHR/JFK/LHR return economy class. Check-in boarding etc.. speedy and efficient with no problems. I
found the seating quite comfrortable for economy with average leg room. Meals pretty average food
with quite fast and efficient service - but no water or juice runs during flight. Alcoholic drinks
were charged - this seems to be common practice with most US airlines. As the fare was much cheaper
than other carriers couldn't really complain about paying for a drink. All in all pretty average
flight and service but good value for the price I paid.

London Stansted - JFK return in Economy. Flights full/overbooked both ways. Check in at Stansted
very slow. Over an hour in line leaving little time after security checks. Old 767 - tired seats, no
seatback entertainment etc but legroom good and food ok. Arrival at JFK into new terminal - 1hr 30
queue for immigration. Lots of space and lots of empty booths. Return Terminal 8 - checkin and
security superb - 5mins curbside to airside. Super efficient until flight delayed 2 hours due to
baggage belts breaking (this is a brand new terminal). Things then went further downhill. In our
seats headphones/overhead lights all broken and could not be fixed so no IFE/reading on 7 hr flight.
The fact all stewardesses would have got parts in the Golden Girls didn't help with service. Wife
ordered veggie meal which was delivered to the wrong seat and then there were no others on board so
she had to go without. Beer offered as apology frozen solid. Believe in the motto you pay what you
get and for £230 I'd probably give them a 2nd go and hope for better luck next time.

HNL-SFO-JFK. On a 5 hour flight from HNL to SFO only 1 soft drink was offered by the surly cabin crew
throughout the entire journey with the opportunity to purchase only 1 variety of sandwich at a cost of
$5.00. An equally long flight from SFO to JFK was subject to a 2.5 hour delay. The cabin crew on this
occasion did offer more soft drinks but anyone sat in the rear of “coach” class had a hungry journey
as all food had been sold long before the trolley had reached them. With such a delay there is no
excuse for the aircraft not being properly provisioned. It also didn’t help that American’s planes
looked and felt worn out and that the "past their sell by date" cabin crew failed to display any
genuine customer care. Fellow travellers were all of the same opinion. Whilst this standard of service
might be acceptable for short duration flights of 1 or 2 hours it certainly is not what passengers
need on long flights.

London to Miami. Considering this was a 9 hour flight was shocked to find a small 757. Plane was tatty
and dirty, only 1 film for the whole flight - and that was a childrens cartoon. On our return
requested a window seat, this was rejected despite us checking in 5 hours before departure, apparently
all window seats were taken, only whilst flying we found out this was a lie when talking to passengers
in window seats, who hadn't pre-booked them and had checked in after us. Only 1 film again on return
flight - another cartoon. Wrote to AA to complain, they never responded, won't be flying with them
again, thoroughly disgusted. Virgin and BA are in a different stratosphere to AA regarding service and
will be sticking to those in future.

YYZ-LGA Economy: I was shocked at how dirty and old AA's planes are. The flight attendants acted as if
they were doing you a favour by being there. At one point one of the flight attendants came on the PA
to tell us that the only reason the flight will be delayed is because we the passengers were taking
too long to board the plane. The seat in front of the passenger in front of me was broken, being held
up by wrapping the seat belt behind the seat to prevent it from reclining. On the positive side, the
ground staff at LGA were helpful, even getting me on an earlier flight so I didn't have to wait at the
airport.

TUL-PDX in First. Connected thru ORD on the outbound and DFW on the return. All flights on MD-80's
but only one of the four on ancient former TWA aircraft. Lunch on TUL-ORD flight was choice of BBQ
sandwich or pizza. ORD-PDX is way too long for an MD-80. Despite the fact that the flight was oversold
(and always seems to be) AA is cancelling this route in December 2007. Dinner service was pasta or
short ribs - both mediocre but ice cream for dessert was good. FA worked hard to make sure drinks were
full all the way to PDX. Return PDX-DFW on ancient, noisy former TWA MD-80 but only 30% full. Decent
meals and service - no more no less. DFW-TUL had a wisecracking FA that kept everyone laughing and the
drinks full. Not my best or worst trip on AA but they should upgrade the meals for First.

LHR-STL via ORD in 1st Class. Check in at Park Avenue at LHR is a delight - no lines or wait. The
Flagship Lounge is no great shakes - small and cramped, badly in need of a rehab. A newly refurbished
B777 with Flagship Suite configuration - new VOD service was great, a large choice of programs/films -
on demand. The main meal was good, not great, and the snack was the pizza that used to be served in
coach. Flight attendants (with the exception of the purser) were friendly in only the way American
Airlines flights attendants can be - vaguely aloof and condescending. It's as if they're saying "What
are all you people doing here!" Arrival at ORD uneventful and the bag tagged with the Premium sticker
actually came off the carousel near the beginning of the queue. The bag was re-checked to STL and
arrived a day later (how can they get it from London to Chicago but not Chicago to St. Louis??) ORD –
STL in one of their antique MD80’s – badly in need of replacement.

Y Class ZRH-DFW-SEA/LAX-JFK-ZRH. ZRH-DFW on 763, first row in economy cabin. Nice legroom and plenty
of food. Baggage took ages to arrive since the ramp was closed due to thunderstorms, therefore we
missed the connection to SEA. AA quickly reaccomodated us on the following flight (757, full). This
flight was uneventful and only drinks offered. LAX-JFK, again beverages only are served on domestic
flights. JFK-ZRH very pleasant flight with again plenty of food. JFK-based crew not as nice as the
DFW-based crew of the outbound trip. All in all a very good experience with AA and high value for
money.

Vegas to JFK First Class, followed by connecting flight to Bermuda. Same seat (3B)and indeed same

good, though old tired 757 with seats barely adequate for 5 hour leg. Fun started at JFK when having
boarded plane for scheduled departure, AA were then unable to find a co-pilot(lost apparently between
Newark and JFK) and after two hours informed us that the plane would not leave unti 7.30am the
following morning. It took a further two hours to retrieve luggage and to book us into a Marriot Hotel
on Long Isand. AA ground staff at JFK were shambolic. Got there at 10.30pm, only to have to rise again
at 3.30am for morning flight, which eventually left at 8.30am. Ok breakfast and crew sort of
apologetic, but overall not a good way to end one's holiday and well short of experiences provided by
other Oneworld airlines.

SEA to DFW to SAT, economy class with my wife and 4 month old. We hadn't flown AA in a few years,
so we weren't prepared for how much it's gone downhill. Apparently they've decided to lower the
quality of service to compete with lower cost airlines, so no in-flight entertainment (no monitors
at all for the 4 hour flight from SEA to DFW), and no snack except a cookie for $3 or sandwich for
$5. They also have changed the pre-board policy for families with children, no more of that either.
The attitudes of the FA's were bad, with one being downright horrible. I worked for AA in the early
90's when they prided themselves on being the best airline in the US. How the mighty have fallen.

TUL-ORD-LAX-KONA and return KONA-LAX-DFW-TUL. All flights In First on 75k award. Since this was travel
on an award ticket I try not to be too critical but AA's service to Hawaii is not up to par. The
mainland flights, TUL-ORD and LAX-DFW on MD80's, LAX-KOA on a 757, and ORD-LAX on a 767 with the new
seats. TUL-ORD was delayed by ATC or 30 min but had a decent salmon lunch and excellent service by the
FA in first. ORD-LAX delayed 1 hour because of a missing latch for defibrilator (?) but once under way
the snack of BBQ sandwich was OK and the new Biz seats were fine for sitting but not for sleeping.
LAX-KONA on 757 was disappointing in each direction. Outbound plane was very hot and dirty inside.
Meal was from new Hawaiian menu but the chicken teriyaki was tasteless and portion too small. FA's
disappeared for the last 2.5 hours of the flight. Return to LAX, which leaves at 11:15pm listed as a
"Snack" flight but we were served Ramen noodles in a salty broth! Stale packaged cookie and 3 crackers
came with this fiasco - which also has an orchid on the tray. FA's must have felt bad as they
continually refilled drinks and offered packaged snacks. LAX-DFW a great flight - good omlette and
potato breakfast and TUL-DFW is a 30 minute quickie. Have flown United, Delta, and Hawaiian from LAX
to Hawaii and they blow AA out of the water. AA should reconfigure First for Hawaii travel on these
757's and upgrade the menu.

MAN-BOS-MIA coach. I was surprised with AA use of older 757's for this long distance route. The flight

STL-ORD-LHR in First. The domestic portion was the usual AA fare: unsmiling crew and a cookie. The
MD80s, and I've said this before, are way past their sell by dates. Late departure due to ground crew
finding a "dent" on the wing and having to log the damage. The international portion of the flight
was actually quite comfortable once one figures out how to manipulate the Flagship Suite seat - much
better than the old flat bed international seat on AA. The seats have seen better days and were a bit
shabby looking but everything worked. The service was attentive as there were only 7 passengers in
the cabin. The amenities kit was a blue plastic bag inside a clear plastic bag which contained
toothpaste and brush, socks, earplugs, and eyeshades - like what you used to get twenty years ago in
coach. The food was OK - not what one would expect in the first class compartment of an international
airline but more like what one would receive on a second class domestic airline on a two hour flight.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

ORD to BOS. As I live in Europe, avoiding US airlines is pretty easy, except for domestic travel in
the US of course. Actually, if you don't set your standards too high, AA won't disappoint. It's like
a discount airline with a frill or two. The cabin staff really couldn't be bothered (but no
expectations they would be otherwise), cabin interior was shabby (but no expectations that it would be
smart), and the snack (I was in F) had the merit of existing at all (again, no expectations!). So, as
long as the passenger has little to no expectations above and beyond getting from point A to point B
safely, AA should do the trick!

PHL-ORD and ORD-SFO. Flights like night and day. First was standard US carrier service (or lack of) -
First Class food offering was nuts and a cookie. One flight attendant spent the entire flight seated.
Announcements done in truncated sentences which we unintelligible. Second sector was predominantly
male crew who delivered service with a smile the way it should (and used to) be. 767 had new business
seats for transatlantic services, but unbelievably there is no in-seat video - hard to imagine these

- the slide-down type which feels very cramped in the American layout.

MIA-DFW-IND return First Class. All 4 flights more or less on time. 3 of 4 flights all featured meal

Planes reasonably clean, comfortable but some of AA's fleet is in need of replacement. MD80's on DFW-
IND sectors need to be scrapped, one was over 17 years old. Used Admirals clubs throughout as I am
BA Silver, no problems to report. One overall complaint would be the "Platinum" members who attempt to
charge in front of true first class passengers in order to gain overhead bin space. Should mention
that this was stopped by a friendly but stern gate agent at Indianapolis! Will continue to use AA in
the future.

DFW-NRT. The Admiral's club at DFW is OK. They neglected to tell me that they had given me a
complimentary beverage coupon, so I paid for my drink (rather expensive too). There is good legroom in
business class but this was an old 777 so the seats were tired and didn't function well. Recline was
nowhere near horizontal. The service was mixed. Sometimes very good, other times non-existant. The
flight attendants just seem crabby. The food was mediocre. My legrest didn't function but finally one
of the attendants in coach temporarily fixed it. The entertainment was poor, very few choices and you
are limited to watching movies at scheduled times.

JFK-SFO. American is trying to upgrade the interiors of some of the older planes. This flight was on
an upgraded 767-300. I really don’t like the new first class seats on this plane at all. There is
still plenty of leg room, but the width seems less. The seat and surrounding area feels much more
cramped to me in spite of decent leg room. Another issue is the new, flimsy, hard to work with "tray
tables". These are supposed to be more user friendly but I find them very awkward and irritating. I
hope the new configurations of business class planned for the 777's is a better improvement. The new
mini-entertainment package however is a nice addition. Service was generally good with helpful and
friendly attendants.

JFK-LAX economy class. Seated at row 34J on a B767-200. Aircraft was somewhat dark and dingy also
worn looking as thought it had not seen a good cleaning in a while. Crew was pleasant enough, though
not much cabin presence. Seats terribly uncomfortable, and I guess this being an older airplane, no
"at your seat" entertainment offered. Flight was advertised as "food for purchase" but unless I fell
into a deep sleep, I really don't remember food being offered for purchase. Baggage delivery at LAX
exceptionally quick. Very average trip, not bad not great.

ORD-DEL in First. When traveling First, you have access to the "Flagship Lounge" at ORD, which is a
bit nicer than the Admirals Club - drinks and WiFi are free and views are nicer, though computer
workspace is lacking. A pre-departure drink offered - juice, water, or champagne. Dinner service
very good - tasty, large portions, and presented well. In addition, FAs didn't disturb you to serve
breakfast later if you were asleep - it was held for you and would be served on request once you woke
up. Drinks refilled several times between takeoff and end of the meal. The Flagship Suite was
comfortable for sleeping, and the ottoman which doubles as a foot stool was a nice touch. Two main
complaints: the seat controls were extremely difficult to figure out, and the IFE is poor by F
standards - not AVOD, no games, and a rather poor selection. I got this seat as an upgrade award,
which was a nice treat, but would I pay full price for the F service on this route? Probably not.

LHR-JFK-LHR economy on 777. Check in quick and efficient. Seats comfortable but legroom wasn't great.
The food was BBQ chicken and vegetables - edible but rather small. A second drinks run followed by the
snack box. IFE on small touch screens but films were decent. FA’s professional and very friendly.
Check-in on return was easy as was security. Terminal 8 quiet at 7am with lots of space to lounge
about. We were served breakfast which was stupid because by the time it was served it was lunch time.
Again, professional FA’s. Maybe because of the £250 return fare, I would fly AA again on price and
professionalism.

DFW to MSY on an MD-80 with outbound service in first class via elite upgrade and return in economy
(also on an MD-80). First class check-in was pleasant enough though we later discovered that the agent
deducted too many upgrade coupons (necessitating a call to get this corrected). Our outbound flight
was an hour late boarding because of missing crew, who we were repeatedly told were "on the way".
Once the flight crew finally arrived we boarded, but when we went to push back a storm moved in.
Though the door was already closed we were then told by the captain that due to lightening within 15
miles of the airport that the ground crew had sheltered and that they could not push back the jetway,
therefore, we were stuck at the gate. Due to this we could not queue in line for take-off so we missed
our slot in line causing yet another lengthy delay on the tarmac. At this point the time spent on the
plane had already exceeded the time we would spend in flight to New Orleans. I do understand that the
airlines cannot control the weather, but they can control how they schedule their crews, the
availability of back-up crew members, etc. Once on board and in flight we were offered a beverage
(though no meal - even in first class - as this is a short flight). We were told that no coffee or tea
was available because there was no potable water on board due to a problem. After ordering one drink I
was told that I couldn't order that again because they were now "out" of that particular liquor. We
each received what is surely the smallest packet of snack mix I have ever seen. When I had the
temerity to ask for a second bag (as did other first class passengers) the request was eventually
granted but not without a lecture from the FA about how "I'm going to have to dig into the provisions
for the return flight passengers to do this and they're going to be mad at me." Simply ridiculous.
Upon ordering a second cocktail (not the same, mind you) I was then told that they were now out of
that liquor, too. It's not as if they didn't have time to provision the aircraft during the one hour
that we sat at the gate prior to boarding and when there was no storm to harass the ground crew. All
in all a very poor flight, though routinely AA. On the return we found that we had been shorted the
upgrade coupon on the outbound and the check in agent was unable to help us with that so we flew in
economy. Other than that the return flight in economy was uneventful as it should be.

BRU-JFK-ORD, ORD-BNA, BNA-ORD-BRU all economy class.I was quite impressed by care and politeness of
the cabin crew - but then they served the meals, and the overall experience dropped quite a bit.
All flights on time, planes (B763, MD-80) clean, great crew but cramped seat (on a 8 hours flight is
not nice to touch the front seat with your knees), not so good entertaining system and really bad
food.

LAX-DFW in First. Interesting service onboard, in that the plane used was a B767-300, and seats were
the new AA international Business Class seats, with 50 inch pitch and lie-flat feature, minus the IFE
player. Needless to say, the experience was comfortable for a 3 hour domestic flight. Although it
was a mid-afternoon flight, a lunch was served, which was pretty tasty. Three drink services were
offered, one upon boarding, another before lunch, and a final one with lunch. F cabin was full, but
FAs reasonably pleasant and efficient. Bags took awhile to come out on the carousel, but at least mine
made it. Nice flight - too bad they don't use the upgraded 767s on more domestic legs.

ACA (Acapulco Mexico) - ORD First Class. Meal fantastic and very good service although plane is old
and does not live up to the standards of first class. Seat did not have a leg rest which made it very
uncomfortable to try and sleep as the flight was 5.5 hours long. The food and service was good but the
MD80 planes and terrible interior / seats made me give it 2 stars.

JFK-SFO in First. Aircraft downgraded from 767 to 757 so there was much angst at the gate as many
passengers were denied boarding. For a premium transcon service the 757 was the pits. Mediocre food,
no digiplayer and antiquated seats that prevented any kind of sleep meant the 5+ hours went by very
slowly. There was a little entertainment from the forward galley as some of the crew talked long and
very loudly about their problems with scheduling. The only upside of this flight was the Purser who
was a true professional and appeared to be the only crew member who took any pride in what she did.
The 1 star is for the Purser - other facets of this flight don't even deserve a zero.

LAX-IAD Economy. Flight was operated by a 737, and seating was quite cramped (tight legroom). Only
beverages were served on this 4 hour flight, with snacks available for purchase. Entertainment was
virtually non existent, with just one movie shown.

JFK-SFO-LAX-JFK in First on all segments. I was impressed with the improvements made to JFK Terminal
8 - very bright and airy. As I was in First on a Transcon Intinerary, I was allowed to go to the
Flagship lounge, which was very nice although crowded as there were 3 flights to Heathrow leaving at
the same time. Free drinks, good food choices. Now for the flights - JFK to SFO was nearly empty in
first and I received outstanding service. Food was just fair, although the sundae was great. Seats
had been updated and Digi-Player provided although I watched my own that I brought . Connected thru
LAX on the return - Flagship lounge at LAX nice but limited food. Great return flight Crew - comfy
seats, great service, but food was mediocre. AA seems to be making some strides in service - the
Purser mentioned that Crew Scheduling is very selective who works the Transcons in Premium Cabins

LAX-JFK on a red eye, in business. Perfect onboard service - extended period with no announcements,
with those that were made pitched with exactly the right tone (even cracking jokes e.g. "the centre
overhead bins are smaller, so are perfect for hand bags, rucksacks, presents you've bought for your
cabin crew, and other small items.") Cabin crew patrolling
business and offering meals and DVD players to those still awake - very tasty beef salad, though
wines were poor. Good thick blankets too. One note of caution would be to avoid the front of the
cabin if you want to sleep, as there is glare from the big screen.
This all made up for the poor service we received when entering the lounge (to which we
were entitled having just arrived on a QF business class flight). Eventually we gave up and waited
for the front desk lady (who had argued that it didn't count as it wasn't QF operated) to go off
duty; the subsequent staff member happily let us in. In the lounge, it wasn't made clear that soft
drinks were free at the bar, and the choice of free food was very limited indeed. On board would get
5 stars, but the lounge only gets 2.

LAX-ORD-MCO. LAX check-in. As I have an E-ticket, the staff said I must use the self check-in
counter. First two machines did not work and the third one finally OK. As we have checked baggage,
we still need to go to the staff counter. After baggage weighing, the staff said, "Go to TCA". What
does it mean? After asking two more times, she finally explained clearly that means we have to bring
our baggage to the security booth by ourselves. After that, I understand "TCA" is a common term in
USA airports, but do they know what is "AER" in Hong Kong or "UDR" in Bangkok or "HPSD" in Sydney?
America Airlines staff feels that you are a fool when you don't know what is "TCA". For the flight, it
is an OK S-80 plane. LAX-ORD is an overnight 5-hour flight. When we asked for blanket, we were told
that there were only 10 blankets in the plane and they were all used by other passengers. ORD-MCO
delayed by 1.5 hours and we arrived Orlando safely. Honestly speaking, my experience with American
Airlines was very bad. But given the good price US$338 LAX-MCO return (with FFP milage) and grade A
safety, I have to use it again.

Business Class JFK-LHR. Almost full cabin but service above average. Bulky duvet provided with Bose
headphone. Dinner average - choices of chicken, beef or lamb and a meatless pasta choice for us who
don't eat meat. Pre departure drinks offered. Pre landing breakfast was a lot better than dinner.
All in all a fairly pleasant flight. Very tired 777 aircraft. For the price you pay for a business
class ticket you expect better layout in the business class cabin. AA still has the 2x3x2 layout in
business class - probably be acceptable in the 90s but this is 2007, all business class seats should
have direct aisle access especially on overnight flight. 4 star for cabin crew, 3 star for meals and
beverages and 1 star for seat comfort.

BOS-LAX was delayed due to security, fair enough. Onboard, during the 6 hour flight no free meals were
served, you could only purchase food with expensive prices. However, as we were sitting at the back
there was no food left to buy during the whole flight. My bag was also delayed for four days. Hope
that will not have to use American Airlines again. The only redeeming feature was nice ground staff at
BOS.

Used America Airlines for the first time - got a good price for the 3 leg journey and as seat pitch
was described as being 34" we chose AA above other operators. Attendants ok but rather bossy. Food
pretty awful as vegetarians we got some weird and unappetising food but at least they supplied
vegetarian food unlike some others. Plenty of drinks supplied throughout flights LHR-JFK, JFK-LAX and
LAX-LHR. Unfortunately we had dreadful seats at the back of the plane on the last leg - the seat pitch
nowhere near 34" - very, very cramped, freezing cold and extremely uncomfortable.

LGW-DFW-ABQ return. Food reasonable but could have been better, sufficient drinks offered. FA's of
mature years, efficient and sensible - although one was rather abrupt when asked a question about
landing cards. IFE ok. In general a good flight and an airline I would recommend.

LGW-DFW-LAX Economy out and Business back via miles and co-pay. Not flown American for several years
and along with most other airlines they have downgraded a bit due to competitive fares and now charge
for alcoholic drinks and for snacks on the internal flight. Cabin Service and food was good and
personal seat back entertainment good - although more choice would be nice. Used miles and co-pay for
business class on return trip which was excellent - plenty of legroom, excellent food and service and
I slept which I generally don't manage to do (Bose headphones and duvet helped). I would certainly
fly AA again and although indirect from Gatwick rather than direct Heathrow I didn't mind the
additional time. Self-service check in at LAX was quick and efficient - just scanned passport and got
boarding passes out - much better than long check-in at LGW due to security - don't get why they are
more relaxed in LAX/DFW though? Ticket purchased in their sale and very good value for this route.

LHR to MCO via MIA in economy. The international legs of the trip onboard Boeing 777 were very good
and better than Virgin. Legroom just acceptable and appeared slightly better than Virgin. IFE OK. The
food was good outward, but a bit dire coming back and the Flight attendants were helpful on both
flights. The internal legs were nothing special but on time and we were only in the air for 45mins so
no complaints. My only issue was the transfer at Miami going out. The bag handling arrangements seemed
a bit hit and miss but they worked. Going back was better as the luggage was ticketed for the whole
journey. All in all a better experience than I was expecting and I would certainly fly AA again
especially at that price!!

MSY-ORD Economy Class. AA charge for snacks onboard ($3). Check in at New Orleans (MSY) quick and
efficient. There was a beverage service and a snack sale on the 2h30m flight. AA is pretty good, but
they could provide some sort of free snack.
