The term you get what you pay for popped into my head the minute I went to check in online. Could not select seats or add bags. Get to the airport then they charge 75 for an additional bag. Flight delayed over 7 hours for a 2 hour flight. My kids took the same leg 3 days before and the same thing with the same delay. It is sad but they do not care about being 7 hours late and repeat the same poor quality and lack of customer service. One should not be that stressed for the start and end of their vacation.

Flight from Lexington, KY to Saint Pete/Clearwater on 6/29 did not get out until 6/30. Now here we are again, July 4, with our 5 pm return flight on a delay that is moving further and further out every 15 minutes. Now it is a 8 pm departure, arrive at 10 pm. It's not looking good, as the plane we are supposed to be on has not yet left the ground and it is a 1 hour flight.

Flew from Owensboro, KY to Vegas. They were totally disorganized and one hand did not know what the other was doing. A couple of full flights put in a small hot sweaty room to await flight. Great flight to Vegas. However on return, they kept sending us to the wrong lines, then an hour before the scheduled flight told us we were last although it was their fault and that we had forfeited our prepaid tickets/luggage fees, etc. because we were not there two hours before flight. They talked very rudely to us, we could not fly out for three more days. Walked to the Southwest counter next to them got on a flight 45 minutes later flight to another city and had to rent a vehicle to go to pick up car at Owensboro.

I purchased two tickets for my children to fly from Youngstown to Myrtle Beach. While the trip to MB was acceptable, the return trip was totally unacceptable. My children were scheduled to leave at 4.30pm from MB on Sunday June 24th. They were at the airport at 2.30 and checked their bags. I left the airport because everything was on schedule. Then my daughter called at 4.00pm and told me the flight was taken off the screen. For the next 6 hours, the airline employees were not in a position to give us any information whatsoever. When it became obvious that we were going to get no help, I called another airline and booked one-way flights for my children to return home the next day, costing my daughter a days work and me over $600. When I went to pick up their bags, we were told that they would have had to get their own transportation to a hotel, pay for the hotel and then try to call the airline to schedule a flight the next day. This was after I had attempted to call over 20 times and getting a message that they were too busy to take any phone calls. It would have been a totally different situation had we been given updates throughout the 6 hour period.

Tried to fly from Bellingham to Las Vegas. Our flight is scheduled at 4.20pm. Due to mechanical failure, it was delayed to 6.30pm, then 9.30pm, then 11.00pm, then got cancelled. They re-scheduled a new flight for the next day at 6.20pm. Everyone at the airport claimed they only handled baggage. No one at the airport would offer any help, except a long-distance phone number that led to a phone recording. All staff left the job by 11.00pm. We got back to the airport the next day for the 6.20pm flight, and was told again it was delayed and "might" fly out at 9.30pm. We gave up, spent an hour calling a long-distance reservation number to cancel our flight and got a refund. I checked the flight took off near midnight.

Flew from Bellingham to Las Vegas. Flight out was delayed 4.5 hors due to mechanical problems and plane never came in night before. No email notification. When asked at gate why our flight was not boarding, told plane never came in and gate agent walked away. Only after asking to speak with supervisor did I receive the information about a mechanical issue the night before. Return trip 5 days later went through 2 planes due to mechanical issues with rude gate staff. Gate staff kept disappearing for periods of 20 to 30 minutes always return with cups of coffee. We were asked to tell other passengers waiting at the gate for other flights what was going on with their flights because the agents were no where to be found. When or plane finally boarded 5 hours later we pushed back from the gate only to have another mechanical issue. We were also told by the pilot not to take it out on the flight staff because we were all in this together! I will never fly this airline again!

I just got back from a quick round-trip from Greensboro to St. Pete. As has always been the case, their flight crews are great. We were a little late leaving St. Pete today due to a computer malfunction. The pilot kept the passengers well-informed. Now that their "open-seating" policy has been eliminated, everybody gets an assigned seat. Yes, they nickel-and-dime you, but I wouldn't trade this airline for any legacy airline.

I was extremely disappointed in this airline. They charge too much for the bare minimum. They don't offer complimentary beverages on the plane. $2 for a soda! They charge an arm and a leg for carry on luggage! Don't be fooled by the lower prices you see on their site. They get you in other areas. I was misinformed at the counter about a particular segment on their website. I was told to call the Customer Service hotline for any concerns. It took 17 minutes to finally speak with someone and she had no idea how to answer my questions. I had a few family members that flew this airline a lot. We will never be using them again.

This was an Allegiant booked vacation that my whole family would like to forget. Almost Everyone that I came into contact with that works for Allegiant had a terrible attitude. Waited in one of the check in line in Orlando and the ticket agent in front of our line decided to just leave with no explanation and the other ticket agents down the counter ignored our line. Finally myself and a couple other travelers decided to ask loudly if the Allegiant person would be back and the one present agent said probably not. One of the worst managed situations I have seen. As another note after you add in all the Allegiant "extra charges" this airline is not such a good deal. The equipment and planes look to be way past worn out. Seats on our departing flight were like sitting on a cement block. Again the flight attendants acted as if they hated their jobs.

We have flown from Great Falls to Las Vegas 2 to 3 times a year with no problem. Have done this for more than 15 Trips. Only delayed once for snow storm going back and otherwise great times and sometimes early if all on board. We cannot get a better price in Canada. Even with seat payment and luggage charge, we still only paid 450 return for 2 people. Will not go to Vegas any other way.

I have never had one of their flights be on time, and my flight (last ever with this airline) just got delayed 2 hours at Oakland. It's worth paying a bit more for an airline you can count on to keep your vacation and travels on time.

Flew Allegiant from Duluth, MN to Las Vegas and Duluth, MN to Mesa, AZ. All flights were excellent, and we even left Vegas early because everyone was on board and seated. Watched the pilots do a thorough walk around inspection of the aircraft on each leg of the flights. Even noticed the pilots make slight adjustments in the air to avoid turbulence. For the price of the tickets you won't find a better airline to travel on.

Booked flight/hotel package from Fresno to Las Vegas. Added transport to and from airport. What a joke, we stayed in the downtown area on Freemont Street and the shuttle time was an hour plus. Our flight was already an hour late leaving Fresno with no communication from Allegiant. All info screens read on time but obviously it was not. My advice, if you are going to stay in the downtown area don't waste your money on their shuttle service unless you want to spend over an hour getting to your hotel. We were originally due to arrive at 4.30 and figured by the time we got our baggage it would be 5.30 when we got to the hotel. We didn't arrive until almost 8 pm. We also paid for specific seats and when leaving Las Vegas found three of the four occupied by other people who then had to move. The added expenses of baggage, seat selection and shuttle pretty much doubled the cost of the hotel and flight package. Will look elsewhere next time.

I used to praise Allegiant airlines when they first opened in Mesa, AZ for efficient travel to rural states like Montana. Over the years their prices have gone up, they nickle and dime you, and the service is getting terrible. Today I dropped off family with small kids and a handicapped grandmother. The ticket agent messed up the tickets so they were turned away at TSA. They returned for a fix and were not even apologized to. Furthermore, the ticket agent didn't want to provide a gate pass so a family member could assist with the children and handicapped grandmother. Then, to further the insult, no effort was made to assign seating for the children so they could be near their parents. Also, they stopped family boarding as well. I will no longer be using Allegiant Airlines.

I am done flying Allegiant, they were great before they started adding all their little fees, now they are no better than Spirit. What is advertised as their price is far from the truth. Dropped my children off this morning and they charged us $70 for my kids two small carry ons. I had packed my kids snacks for the flight to try and cut some costs, I told my daughter to ask for complimentary water on the plane. When she landed she called and told me that they told her no water and they wouldn't even give her a cup of ice. So needless to say we are flying them back Alaska Air and are saving 200.

I fly Allegiant Airlines a couple times a year to Las Vegas. Even with the recent charges for carry on luggage and the other sneaky charges you really can't beat the price! This last trip I wanted to upgrade to a better room and customer service went out of their way to make it happen (no I didn't have trip flex!) Very impressed with the service.

My family and I (wife, 4 yr old and 5 month old son) flew from Fort Wayne to Myrtle Beach. The reason for picking Allegiant was the direct flight to Myrtle, and the low cost. Other than the added costs for picking seats, and baggage, the check-in was good, seats comfortable, airline personnel helpful and friendly. Coming back was the same, although there was a long line at check-in at the Myrtle airport. If you can get away with the open seating, it is less expensive but flying with my wife and 2 sons for the first time, I picked our seats to make sure we sat together for our first flight as a family. Overall would fly Allegiant again.

Cheap price but then they add on other charges. All seats reserved in advance are additional and you cannot check-in online without having previously booked a seat. They charge for checked bags and the weight limit is 40 pounds instead of 50 pounds which is the standard for other airlines. You must also pay for carry-on bags! Snack packs are available at an extra charge and even water costs $2. The seats do not recline although there is more room than the typical airline. "Priority Boarding" meant that you could enter the line behind just about every other category of person and the wait was about 20 minutes. Then we waited for an hour and a half for the plane to arrive while jammed into a room made for about half the number of people. An interesting experience but not one that I want to experience twice.

We booked our 2nd trip from Bismarck, SD to Scottsdale, AZ. The base price was almost identical to last year - but that's where the similarities end. What appeared to be a good flight/hotel package was boosted by $150 worth of baggage and seating fees. After this trip, I will look elsewhere.

Got to Fargo ND airport at 11 am for 12.30 flight. Told the flight would not depart until 5 pm. Never did I receive an email or call on my cell phone to notify me. At 1 pm, they moved the time to 5.30, then 6.05. Now at 4 pm they're saying 6.40. Instead of getting to LAX at 2 pm, I'll be getting in at 7.40, and will have an hour drive back to San Clemente. And that's if they get their act together enough to depart at 6.40 pm, and my confidence level is near zero. Never again!

Needed to fly to Grand Junction from Las Vegas at the last minute and found out that Allegiant had a nonstop flight with tickets at $60 a piece. Overall price per person was about $77 one-way, which was not bad at all. Check-in line at the airport was a little long; I had to wait about 30 minutes to check my bag, and the agent was just going through the motions to check us in. Boarding was a little confusing, as they called out some weird groupings to separate those with assigned seats from those of us with open seating, and I don't think we understood. The gate agent said nothing as we boarded in the second group, however. As a result, we had to move twice to get out of the way of people who had assigned seats, which was a hassle but easy to manage. During the flight, I did pay $2 for a bottle of water onboard, but that was no big deal. Landed about 20 minutes late in Grand Junction, and my bag made it. I was overall a satisfied customer and happy with the cheap fare; I wish Allegiant flew to the big cities I like to visit.

Travelling with 3 family members, this was my fourth trip with Allegiant, each time starting in Bellingham. This trip was my first to LAX. We arrived early at BLI (travelling from Vancouver BC) and had to wait to check-in for our flight. Again I found the boarding process improved and better organized than my first couple of flights. Our flight left on time, and arrived a bit early at LAX. FA's were all friendly, service was good during the flight. Luggage delivery at LAX was fast. The next flight of this trip was from Phoenix/Mesa to Oakland. Again we arrived at the airport early and were not allowed to check-in right away. Boarding went smoothly and the flight left on time. Again, luggage delivery at Oakland was fast. We were out of the airport within minutes. Most FA's on this flight were friendly, with one senior FA being a bit on the rude side. Overall, we were impressed with both flights on this trip.

The 5.15 pm May 11, 2012 flight from Mesa-Phoenix to Colorado Springs was almost an hour late leaving. There was no one at the gate until after 5.15 to let us know of the delay. The person at the gate was very rude and unprofessional. Flight attendants were pleasant but I will fly Allegiant as a last resort. The low price is not worth the trouble. The previous flights were pretty much the same, late and unpleasant.
