I flew from Niagara Falls NY to Fort Lauderdale with my family on August 2. The night before I called and pre- booked our seats. I asked for and received 5 seats in the emergency row. Cost was $15 each for 2 seats together and $14 each for the 3 seats together. Check in was breeze and the plane left and arrived on time. Yes the MD 80 is a little older than other airlines fly but it was clean and the seats felt quite comfortable. Our flight attendant was friendly and helpful. Arrived in Fort Lauderdale and baggage came out right away. Flight back without the kids, we had the 2 pre-reserved seats in emergency row again. Flight left 15 minutes late due to traffic but the pilot made up the time. If possible, book your seats the night before and pay for your luggage on line. $25 isn't too bad when you are saving as much as we did.

Yesterday, flying out from Vegas to Bellingham flight got delayed for almost 4 hours. They announced there was no crew and we were waiting for them to arrive in Vegas from Bellingham. They only provided water. Instead of arriving Bellingham at 9.30 at night, we arrived at almost 1.30am. I would recommend everyone to pay extra $20-$50 to another airline and travel them without any frustrations.

This was the second time I have tried to fly using this airline only because of its direct flights. From now on I'll fly Delta and deal with changing planes in Atlanta. After hours of waiting to see if they could get another plane from Florida to transport over 200 people to Florida from Kentucky the flight was postponed until the next day. This was after the airport closed and there was no way to get a flight on another carrier. It was as if they intentionally waited until everything was closed. Then sent us to the ticketing counter which had no attendants. After another hour or more waiting, someone showed up and announced the new flight time the following day. When the flight was first delayed we were told 'because of weather' as we sat there watching the mechanics crawl into the engine on the plane and open the nose of the plane. If we tried asking the terminal personnel for any help or information we were met with complete disregard and rudeness. Never again will I book a flight with this company.

We had a 5.5 hour delay for a 6am flight. Told the intercom wasn't working, and that they had another plane available. Told not to leave the immediate area, or we would miss our plane. 5 hours later we were still waiting after walking to another terminal, and then being bussed out onto the runway. As we sat on the plane supposedly ready to leave, we waited again, this time for fuel. No communication, not any updates on estimated time to leave from airline employees. Had the same experience coming home 9 days later! Another 5 hour delay. I was told by airport personnel that this is the norm with Allegiant.

We flew from Niagara Falls to Ft. Lauderdale, and everything went smoothly. I knew going into this that with round-trip flights of $113 we would pay extra for amenities and baggage. Still, for a family of 6, it cost us only about $800 fly us all there and back, including two checked bags. The staff was very friendly, and the flight smooth. I look forward to flying with them again. It would be nice if they would at least throw in some water for free, and maybe a small snack, given it was a three hour flight. The flight was on time also.

As others have noted, the ticket price appears to be a real enticement until you begin tacking on the extra fees. I did not pay for reserve seats, thank goodness, but did spring for one checked bag per person. The flight from Mesa/Phx to Oakland was not bad other than we sat on a hot tarmac for 20 minutes while someone recounted the checked bags. The flight back, however, was a nightmare. We arrived with plenty of time for check-in, which we had to do because of the bags we were checking. There was one gate agent and a line of people. This person was the slowest I have ever seen, spending up to 15 minutes to check one person in. We literally ran barefoot to the gate to make the flight. When I read some of the other reviews, I feel fortunate that we were not stuck for hours waiting on a flight.

We got to the airport in Fort Lauderdale Fl an hour and 5 minutes and waited for 40 minutes for the ticket agents to slowly check everybody in. When we finally got the desk the ticket agent was rude and wanted charge us for two bags that were 1-3 pounds over the 40 lb weight limit. We adjusted the weight between the three bags and they were all 40 lbs. Later when we got home, we found the ticket agent still charged us the $50 for the overweight bag without telling us.

Was flying from LAX to BLI Bellingham on July 6, 2012 and it seems that chronic delays are part of this airline nowadays. We were at the airport at 10am to catch the 11.30am flight - didn't leave until 11pm - almost 12 hour delay. They only offered a $100 voucher by email on your next trip. They kept on saying a plane was on the way! LAX is a big airport but they only had trainees who couldn't give you a direct answer.

The good: low price, at a cost. The bad: flight delays, uncomfortable seats, poor customer service. Flight from Las Vegas to Cedar Rapids, IA, delayed 40 min. Flight from Cedar Rapids to Las Vegas, now delayed 7 hours, and still waiting. I would consider paying up to $500 more, not to fly Allegiant again.

My flight was delayed 4 times, over a 7.5 hour span, before finally being cancelled at 1 am. No explanation was offered beyond "mechanical issue". The ticket agents took over 2 hours to issue hotel vouchers, and while we were told we could submit taxi receipts for reimbursement, no info was offered as to how to do this. The hotel was unprepared for our arrival, it was 4 am before I was finally in my hotel room. Flight rescheduled for 3 pm that afternoon. It seemed that there was no protocol in place for how ticket agents were to handle such a situation, so it was handled very poorly. After paying $30 for a carry-on bag, $11 to choose my own seat, and $2 for any food or beverage on the plane, including water, and after driving 4 hours to the nearest airport serviced by Allegiant in the hopes of saving some money, I think I've learned my lesson. Next time, I will pay a bit more and use the airport just 5 minutes from my home.

Flew from Newport News, VA to Sanford, FL. Flight was much cheaper than other options-including other fees. Yes, we paid for checked bags, and yes, I paid extra to have my family of four sit together. To not pay for it and then complain is ridiculous! All employees we encountered were great. Leg room on our plane was fantastic.

Flight 456 from Las Vegas to Sioux Falls on 7-21-12. Checked in online the night before, got to the airport early and found my gate. Other Allegiant flights were being delayed because the inbound aircraft was late. My flight's gate changed twice and we finally took off at 5.30, almost three hours later from the scheduled time. The desk agents looked like college kids working a summer job and I lost all confidence. Price was fine until all the extra fees started adding up. Never again, if I don't have to.

Flight to Sioux Falls was cheaper than other flights until all the fees kicked in. Extra fee for a carry on bag is ridiculous. I did not pay the fee to reserve a seat and arrived at the airport 3 hours before the flight and they could not seat my family together. The attendant at the ticket counter was rude and would not even give us the time of day when asked if we could sit together. The seats do not recline and the leg room is very minimal, at best. I only took this flight because of the non stop, I will Never fly Allegiant again.

Idaho Falls to Oakland on 7/0/12. My sister was on this flight, and the phrase you get what you pay for is very much apt. Between a five hour delay due to paperwork, not having the fuel on an hour non-stop and therefore forcing a stop in Boise, and nickel and diming for basic services on any other airline. The only reason this isn't a zero is because they did give her food for her meds. It'd be best to fly Delta with a Salt Lake stop.

Thought I was getting a good deal on a short weekend trip from Oakland to Scottsdale. Arrived at OAK an hour before the flight to find no one at the counter to check me in. Was told that I should have been there 2 hours before the flight instead of 1 hour to be checked in. Airport operator paged them 3 times. Needless to say after much screaming I was told I "missed my flight" and wouldn't be getting my money back. I ended up booking Southwest for my flight there. Then on my way back my flight was delayed 2 hours due to weather but we didn't leave until three hours after the plane was supposed to leave. Service was dismal.

When I received my family seating assignments they were all over the plane. I had purchased my tickets months in advance. When I looked up my tickets and saw they were scattered all over the plane and the plane was not even a third full, I requested that some of the seats be together, I was told that for a price two could be next to each other. The flight was over an hour late, when I got onboard (after paying extra money for certain family members to sit next to each other, many people on the plane were trying to get by their husband or wife - I moved 3 times to accommodate them). Flight attendants did not greet you but talked to each other. The seats did not go back at all. There was not a lot of room in your seat. Carry-ons cost 35 dollars each unless you just had a small back pack or purse. Suitcases were 55 dollars each. Any beverage cost money. The temperature was comfortable. Flight attendants came around several times. On the flight back the plane was at the gate over an hour ahead of time but we boarded a half hour late (no reason given). Plane arrived at destination 45 minutes late. Flight attendants did not say a word as you exited the plane.

Flew to Vegas July 9 on 4.20pm flight. Delayed 4 hours - no reason for at least 1hour because there was no staff around. Wife went back to the check-in counter and the lady told my wife "don't you have google". We didn't pay extra for the assigned seating so the agent assigned us seats apart from each other. Before you depart from the plane the stewardess asks that you clean up your garbage and return your seatbelts in the proper position. I'm just waiting for them to ask (could the last person to use the washroom please clean it). This airlines customer service is almost none existent. With all the mechanical problems with their airplanes I beginning to wonder if there safe anymore.

Flew to Las Vegas July 8 from Des Moines Iowa, and returned July 15. Our outbound flight was scheduled to leave at 8.05 p.m. The flight was delayed in Vegas and did not arrive in D.M until 12.15 am, and we were not told why. We finally left D.M. at 1am and arrived Vegas at 2am - 5 hours late. Return flight was almost 2 hours late. The 2 flights were a total of 7 hours late. The Vegas flights in and out of D.M. are consistently late. As a result of this, I can say with pleasure that I have spent my last dime at Allegiant Air.

The only reason to fly on this airline is because it leaves from my city and I do not have to drive to another location to catch a flight. The airline charges you to buy a ticket on line - if you want to get a ticket without the $15 charge you must drive to the airport and get a ticket on just 3 days a week between the hours of 10-noon! There is one person selling tickets and giving travel advice. It took me 2 hours to get my last ticket. The next charge is another $15 to get a seat assignment. If you do not have a seat assignment you may not check in 24 hours ahead unless you want to pay an additional $15! So the wait for checking in is extensive. Then there is baggage. The charges are between $25-30 per flight depending where you are going. Then, of course they were one of the first airlines to charge for a carry on bag. I haven't checked those rates, but I am guessing that cost is between $15-25.

I just returned from an Allegiant Air round trip Oakland to Missoula. I paid $100 more than Alaska or Delta (both have stops on the way) to fly Allegiant non stop but the long wait time on both ends - 5 to 6 hours made the non stop a joke. Very poor customer service. When I told the man at the counter that I wouldn't fly Allegiant again, he told me that he's heard that many times before but he usually sees the people back again. No apology for the very long wait. In fact he said that the airlines "low" prices drew people regardless of the wait times. The TSA at the airport told me that Allegiant is regularly hours late and that she would never fly with them.

This was my first and last trip on Allegiant airlines! We traveled on July the 4th from Knoxville to Orlando. Arrived at 9.00 am, the flight was to leave at 11.00am. Flight was delayed for 5.5 hrs! This meant that we were at the airport for about 7 hrs with a 4 year old! Not a wonderful first flight for my grandson! We were even told that we could not leave the terminal!

We've flown Allegiant before with some delays but never like our flight from Orlando/Sanford to Toledo OH, which was an hour late leaving and our return trip was a nightmare! We were stuck waiting at the gate for over 10 hours! Now and then the passengers were advised "the pilot says this flight is ready for take-off" then 20 minutes later after everyone was on board, The jet is experiencing a hydraulic fluid leak so we'll have to ask everyone to get off the plane. Late that night we were offered pizza and a soft drink. For waiting over 10 hours? I find it inexcusable to keep people waiting for that long. Passengers have lives, places to go and there are people who are waiting for us to arrive at our destination! By the time we arrived back home we had been awake for over 22 hours and we had to go to work. I felt so bad for the people who had little children or for the elderly people in wheelchairs! I would like to suggest that Allegiant should be better prepared by keeping their fleet in good working order!

Las Vegas to Honolulu. Roundtrip $278. With the bag split between 2 people and a couple of snacks, basically $320 a person. I could have flown Hawaiian and paid $600+ per person. So my review is done knowing that for my wife & I, we saved $600-$700. Given that, the airline is fine. Yes, you need to pay for snacks. I ate ahead of time. Yes the seats don't recline. But they actually had more legroom than normal, and the cushions were comfortable. This is not an airline for the lazy buyer who wants things taken care of. However, if you read the fine print and plan ahead, there is no better value. If you're like me and would like to take 2 vacations for the price of one, then a modicum of planning pays huge dividends. Will likely take a quick trip to Monterey on them for the same reasons as above.
