AirTran Airways review - by A Levintlov
15 August 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Since this is a low-fare carrier, I don't expect luxury. Occasionally I do get row 10, which does have
loads of leg room, on both 717 and 737. I prefer 717 because on left side, they have only 2 seats
together. Inflight service mostly okay. As they say, you get what you pay for, and my Air Tran flights
have all been well worth the price.

PHL-ATL-PHL. Business Class on a new 737. The seats were nice and
comfortable Recaro. FA's were pleasant. Drinks offered twice, snacks
once. On return, I upgraded again. The designated "bag-check" lines
were actually taking customers of all sorts and were slow. My flight
showed a 1-hour delay at check-in. Another look at the monitors a few
minutes later revealed a 2-hour delay. At the gate, around boarding
time, we were informed the plane was going through a routine maintenance
check, but we waited another hour with few announcements about what was
happening. Aboard the 717, the seats were a bit older, but comfortable
and very nice. F/A's on this flight were fantastic, and worked hard to
make up for other ways the carrier was lacking.

LAX-ATL in Business Class. Upgraded using Elite Status from B class
ticket. This is not "Business Class" However, that being said, the 737
aircraft was spotlessly clean, the toilets worked, I had a nice, wide
seat, very comfortable with decent leg/knee room. The front cabin of
the plane has 3 rows of 2-2 seating, so there was plenty of space for
hand held luggage. Dinner service included decent booze, on the house,
but served in a plastic cup. I didn't bother listening to the XSM
inflight radio, but glancing through the inflight magazine, there seemed
to be about 50 or so different channels. I think there was a $2 charge
for headsets in the back, they were complementary up front. Our flight
left LAX on time, we got to Atlanta on time. Attentive staff, although
one of the women had a chip on her shoulder (long working hours?).
Final verdict: for what I got, I would not pay a full fare ticket.
However, the cost difference between their lowest discounted economy
ticket, and the cheapest of their upgradable economy tickets was worth
the price. I will be perfectly happy to fly AirTran again under the
same circumstances. Good flight, good seat on a 4 hour flight, but no
real amenities on board.

4 May 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
I have traveled 5 return flights on AirTran from Boston to Philly and
one to Fort Lauderdale over the last year. The seats are a bit cramped
but I managed (I am 6'0"), staff are very friendly and seem to love
their jobs. Fares are usually pretty reasonable, and the XM radio on the
planes is a great idea. No food, but I gave up expecting that a long
time ago! Most impressive, their flights to and from Philadelphia were
on time every single time except a short delay once. Compare this to
the delays that US Airways has on the same route (regularly an hour or
more), and it is a definite plus.

3 May 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
I have flown AirTran several times during the past year between Boston
to Orlando and back Their ground services are fine, such as their
electronic check-ins, transfers, etc. Boeing 717 aircraft uncomfortable
seats narrow and provided little leg room. Their personnel services
were quite alright and food is mediocre. However, if you don't mind
compromised quality, buy AirTran because it usually has very low fares
even at later reservation dates.

24 April 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
ATL-DTW and FNT-ATL in economy. Having flown AirTran about 6 times in the past year, each time with
progressively better reviews, it is clear they are making significant improvements in their customer
service and overall quality. Both flights were nearly full, but did not seem cramped at all, even
with the packed 717 / 737 configurations. The 737 aircraft on the return trip seemed brand new, with
a very clean, comfortable cabin and slightly wider seats than the 717 aircraft on the outbound trip.
Beverage service was good and efficient, and the cabin staff was very attentive and friendly. The
FAs on the ATL-DTW trip were very upbeat and witty, making the usually monotonous takeoff and
landing procedures a surprising pleasure. Both flights also left on time and arrived early. My only
complaint was that their complimentary headsets are of the poorest quality and break very easily.
Bring your own headsets to enjoy the great XM Radio. I disagree with their classification as a "low-
cost carrier," seeing that they rarely offer "low-cost" fares, compared to Delta, Northwest, and
other airlines that share many flights on its routemap, but at least they make their numbers work.
Also, having flown business class several times, the upgrade is only worth the $40-60 promotions
they sometimes offer. Don't pay twice the value of an economy ticket for a slightly larger (but
equally comfortable) seat and free drinks.

What a delight it was to fly Air Tran! Staff friendly, funny - a real
feeling of teamwork which was contagious. I've never felt so relaxed and
content on a plane. We flew from Colonial Williamsburg to Boston on
April 1st and couldn't have been more pleased. We were travelling with
parents who needed assistance and it was given with genuine caring and
expediency, Well done, Air Tran!

HPN-MCO/TPA-HPN very good experience. FA's very good, aircraft fine.
Security line at TPA ridiculous like a 45 minute wait - uncalled for.
Not AirTrans fault but beware out of TPA. Price was good, non-stop a
big plus. Could use another counter or two at HPN and TPA but curbed it
at TPA and that part was fine. Need to get bags quicker at HPN no excuse
for a 30 minute wait with only one flight on the ground. Will
definitely fly Air Tran over JetBlue out of HPN.

Baltimore to Boston (BWI-BOS) one-way in economy. Aircraft was a clean
and new 737-700. I was surprised at the fact that the first boarding
call was for all rows. However, when we got on board there were only 14
people (2 business, 12 economy) on a plane for 125! The service was very
friendly and FA's made conversation with most passengers during the
flight. They couldn't explain why flight was so under-booked, only
explanation was their next flight was going to Orlando. Seat pitch and
legroom were fine for a 70 minute flight. Flight left on-time and
arrived 10 minutes early. We only had carry-on bags. I would happily
recommend them for flights out of BWI!

I've flown AirTran numerous times and never been sorry I did. They have
made flying affordable again for those of us without six-digit salaries.
My flights have always been comfortable and on time and the staff has
always been cheerful and friendly. Thanks to them, since I moved to the
Atlanta area I can visit family and friends more often without the long
drive home to Ohio. As long as the prices stay good, my first choice
will always be AirTran!

ATL-Hou Dec. 23, gate agents at Atl not the friendliest but on board the new 717 fa's were friendly
and helpful. Departed and arrived on time. Hou-Atl Dec. 30 upgraded to business (last year cost
$35, this year $60) and had decent legroom and a free drink. Fa's friendly and efficient again and
departure and arrival pretty much on time. Overall a good airline and fair prices.

I recently flew from Atlanta to RDU while in uniform and as I was preparing the board the plane, I
was upgraded to business class. As a senior chaplain in the US Army, I was touched by this act of generosity.
The flight attendants were very kind to a 11-year-old girl who was flying alone and sat next to me. Thank you for an unexpected great flight. As I
am 6 ft. 3 inches tall and weigh 245 lbs., the room in business class made for my most comfortable
flying experience in a long time.

Excellent Airline! 4 star Seating was a little cramped but didn't
expect otherwise considering the price. If Seating wasn't so cramped
I'd give it 5 star. Baggage was handled with care. Crew was friendly.
Excellent experience!

IND-RSW Business class. Nice flight, easy no-hassle check-in, but once
again the idea of cleaning an airplane appears hard to grasp, but not
nearly as bad as our NW flight we were on previously. The in-flight
radio system is a huge bonus and Flight Attendants were nice. Overall a
good experience with no hesitation of flying them again. We would opt
for AirTran over other carriers given the overall experience, especially
inflight.

Flew from Atlanta to White Plains and back. Return leg was in Business Class. The $35 upgrade offer
for most flights is worth every penny! Crews are friendly and the planes are clean. The XM Sat.
Radio is a nice touch. Beware of some coach seats on the 717 planes...they tend to be a bit narrow
and have a tiny bit of legroom. If originating or terminating in Atlanta, watch out for the long
lines at check-in and the long wait at baggage claim. AirTran uses only two devices for their
luggage for ALL of the flights! The wait for the baggage is long and the area is crowded. Check-in
desks are swamped as there are too many passengers and not enough ticket counter space. All in all,
a good experience. AirTran is a nice alternative to Delta, especially in and out of Atlanta.

My boys and I flew round trip on AirTran to SAV-HHI via Atlanta from
Bloomington, IL in late March. We had a great trip. The crew was
friendly and the flights were good, although full. We love the check-in
via computer. My husband even checked us in for our return flight while
we on the beach in Hilton Head and he was back home in Illinois. We
have flown AirTran for years, even before they moved the hub to Atlanta,
and have been very happy. A few times, they have not been the cheapest
(Delta & American were less) so we did not fly them. In each case , we
wished we would have flown AirTran. We really appreciate being to fly
on the new Boeing planes and use the new terminal at Bloomington with
its acres of free parking.

Excellent airline. I was a bit apprehensive considering the history of
the airline but I have absolutely no complaints reguarding this airline.
No meal - who cares? At these prices there is no room for complaint.
Flights were on time and orderly. This airline is ok in my book!

DCA-ATL-LAX and back LAX-ATL-DCA. Rode Coach for the first trip over to
Los Angeles; the XM satellite radio made the ride bearable (I normally
don't fly well). Great service from the flight attendants, excellent
crew (although the pilot for my ATL-DCA leg wasn't that funny). Small
check-in and gate area, though, but I guess that's not their fault. Flew
Business Class for LAX-ATL, that was well worth the $75 upgrade.

I flew AirTran over the February vacation week. Of course, because most
schools were on winter break, prices were much higher than normal. I
have been a jetBlue person for quite some time, but they wanted to
charge me $840 per person for Boston to Orlando. (round-trip)So that
prompted me to call AirTran to see what it would cost a family of 5 to
fly Boston to Canton/Akron, then to Orlando. They told me $290 per
person. (round-trip) - a $650 difference! I jumped on that, even if I
had to fly to Ohio first. When we arrived at Logan (Boston) the line for
tickets was AWFUL! We waited in line for about an hour and a half! We
got through security and boarded the plane 5 minutes before take-off.
The planes were nice (B717) but the seats were a little cramped. I will
never fly on a 717 ever again unless I buy business class. Ride was
smooth, pilots were friendly, always keeping you updated on where the
plane was. The flight attendants were not so friendly on the Boston to
Akron flight, but all the other flights, they were very friendly. The XM
Radio was cool, was not expecting that! They gave out free headsets
which was nice. The flight from Orlando back to Akron was good. We did
hit some turbulence, but nothing terrible. Overall, I would fly AirTran
again, just not on a vacation week!

We flew from Pittsburgh to Orlando with AirTran. It was our first time
flying. We loved it. Both the trip to and from Orlando ran like clock
work. The flights were on time taking off and landing. The crew was
fantastic. The pilot and crew greeted us and then thanked us for
choosing AirTran upon arrival. One tip for first time flyers - do not
get row 31. That row does not have any windows. Aim for the middle of
the plane. We sat in row 28 on the way back which was okay. We could
see okay but the wing was right there but it was interesting watching
how the wings work!

I have found the staff and crew very helpful, especially when rebooking
due to the "blizzard". The flights I have taken have left on time and
arrived on time or early. Planes are okay. Schedules are currently
limited. Great "low fare" airline.

RDU-ATL-RDU. Going down was seated in economy. They ran a very standard
flight as internal US ones go. Unsmiling flight attendants, no food,
cramped seats. The 717's they fly are fine enough and the seat size was
fair for a short flight. The best thing about the flight is the free XM
radio available (with free headsets). Otherwise very non-descript
flight. On the return, thankfully I upgraded for $35 to business class.
The seat was adequate, but nothing special. No food served, as expected.
The flight was delayed by terrible thunderstorms, but that's not their
fault. Overall, Air Tran are just adequate. If you're used to these
types of short, domestic flights with no service they are a fine choice.

My wife is blind. We have had nightmares with some airlines trying to
get seating up front so we do not have to go all the way to the middle
or rear of the plane. Airtran has always taken special care of my wife
and given us seats up front, and in some cases in business class. They
take time to explain to my wife her location, where the exits are, and
make her comfortable. We will be taking a trip to Philadelphia and
already they have assigned us good seating. Go Airtran, save, plus
experience care and reliability.

I have flown AirTran several times now going from Newport News, Va, and
my home, that being Las Vegas. I have been satisfied with the crews and
staff at all times, even during delays because of Atlanta. Also just
some FYI if you are delayed and have a connecting flight, they will wait
for. This happened when I landed in Atlanta late due to delays and they
waited for me and the other 9 passengers from Jacksonville. Overall, a
great company.

Philadelphia to Boston and back in early/mid September. I was very
impressed with Airtran - both their check-in staff and cabin staff. I
expected check-in queues and delays but was very impressed at the rapid
throughput of the, admittedly modest, passenger numbers. The price
charged for the return trip was a remarkable deal. I'd heartily
recommend them.

RIC-ATL-RIC. Can't say enough about Air Tran's service and efficiency.
I happened to be in Business Class on both legs, and their planes are
mostly new and the seats are very comfortable. Also, I like the fresh
air from the vents. Crews are friendly, and on the ATL-RIC leg, the
pilot actually stood at the front of the cabin, pre-flight, and thanked
us for our patronage and also provided flight details. I have flown
them in the past, and the great service, smiles and efficiency are
consistent.

DAY to BwWI. Nice Boeing 717. I'm 5-10 so I had the bulkhead row. I love Airtran.

We took a chance and tried Airtran Airways' nonstop flight from
Canton/Akron to Boston for $134/ea. By far the least expensive AND no
layovers. Flight to Boston went fine. Plane (717) looked clean and
surprisingly new as we assumed the aircraft would be older. Seats,
service, etc. were no better or worse than the last few flights we had
taken on major airlines. No complaints on that leg. Flight even landed
a few minutes early! Flight back was delayed up to 2 hours because of
weather in Atlanta (hurricane Dennis residue) which caused some
crankiness, other than that - the flight was just fine. Honestly, we
have had worse experiences on other airlines with weather and mechanical
delays. Did notice rather stringent baggage limits - may not use this
airline if have a lot of luggage. Other than that - would recommend
anyone to at least try Airtran. Cannot beat the prices and would be
tempted in the future to upgrade to surprisingly affordable business
class if on long flight.

I have flown PHL-BOS twice in the last few weeks, no problems. Crew is friendly. Yes, seats are
cramped, at least on the 717 they use on this route. I would think twice about going cross-
country but for this short flight it's just fine. At $88 round-trip I have zero complaints!
Bring headphones, XM Radio is fabulous. Really makes the time fly.

I had the worst travel experience of my life on Airtran. Our departing flight from
Pensacola was over an hour late arriving to Pensacola - no bad weather. We arrived
in Atlanta 10 minutes before our connecting flight to Kansas City was to depart. We
deplaned and were told our connecting flight had already departed. We stood in line
for 2.5 hours to get hotel and food vouchers. They initially offered us a room at a
hotel we never heard of and ended up giving us a room at the Doubletree. They gave
us $7 in food vouchers per person to take care of dinner and breakfast and could only
be used in the airport or at the hotel. Went to collect our baggage at 11:30 pm and
were told it would be an 1.5hrs for our bags to be located and brought to us. We
went back in to verify the number of bags they were pulling and were told our bags
had made it on the flight to Kansas City which was supposedly "departed". Called
Airtran after arriving home and discovered the flight to Kansas City had been filled
to capacity. My guess is they had given our seats away and that is why we were told
the flight had departed. I have never experienced such a lack of customer service.

Flew MCO-PHL. SW flight was cancelled (due to weather?) could not be rebooked until the next
morning. Air Tran was boarding a PHL flight across the hall. Bought an Air Tran ticket at the
gate. (SW and Air Tran do not interline, so had to get the SW refunded once I arrived home).
Boarded the Air Tran flight when we no sooner pushed back and were on our way. Once we got closer
to PHL, we held sue to the weather. Eventually we diverted to Newport News VA for more fuel.
Captain ordered pizza for everybody (paid out of his own pocket). Crew could not have been more
nicer. Upbeat, funny and cared about the pax. What could have been a horrible situation really
turned out well. Arrived in PHL later that evening once weather cleared. A great experience with
Air Tran. Will favor them over SW and US out of PHL.

I flew round-trip Philladelphia to Ft. Lauderdale and was very impressed with AirTran. For each leg
of the trip, they used a nice, new plane (Boeing 717), the flight attendants were cheerful and
helpful, and both flights left and arrived on time. One should know that other than drinks and
pretzels, they don't serve food (at least, they didn't serve lunch on a 10:30 to 1:10 flight) - so
bring along some snacks. The price difference between AirTran's and other airlines' tickets more
than makes up for the lack of a meal, however. Other people have complained about lack of space -
I'm 5'5" so I didn't have any leg-room problems.

A quick long weekend trip was in store, so I selected Air Tran's nonstop
service, BWI/FLL/BWI. The price was certainly great: $128.60, including
taxes. I used online checkin for my seat assignments and everything
worked smoothly. Upon checkin at BWI, I opted for Air Tran's $50.00
space-available Business Class upgrade - an excellent decision on my
part: a spacious seat and delightful inflight service. The attendants
were friendly and accommodating, and didn't flinch when I requested
a Corona at 800am!!! I upgraded again on the return, and the service
was, as expected, excellent. A nice assortment of packaged snacks
were offered in both directions: pretzels, cookies, potato chips. All
flights were on Boeing 717s which were new (or certainly looked like
new). With upgrade charges included, the total air fare was $228.60 --
not bad for a Business Class roundtrip. Air Tran: keep up the great
job that you're doing (what a nice little airline!).

Absolutely no question that AirTran is one of the better discount airlines that offers assigned
seating in the country. The "major" airlines are no longer major and the American public is sick and
tired of getting ripped off by them. I fly business class ATL-FLL twice weekly and found that my
company now enjoys substantial savings since we dropped out of Delta and on to AirTran's low fares
and their Frequent Flyer program. Keep up the great service AirTran - just don't get greedy.

Airtran for the first time in early March, 2005. Great experience. CAK-ATL and ATL-CAK.
Check in was quick and easy with the auto kiosk. Cabin crew was punctual and very friendly. As a
Continental frequent flier I was surprised when the flight attendant gave me the entire can of Coke.
CO FA's are only allowed to due this upon customer request!
I sat in the bulkhead row on the way down to ATL and the last row on the return trip. I love the
fact that the 2-3 seating configuration kept me out of a middle seat. I found both seats to be
comfortable and no different that CO. I do recommend that you stay away from the last four rows as
your only view will be the side of the engine.
Neither aircraft had the XM radio installed. Airtran's magazine says that all aircraft will be
equipped with free, 100 channels of XM satellite radio by August, 2005. That should be fantastic.
Overall, very surprised and impressed with Airtran.

My experience with AirTran wasn't so bad. I think they can improve their seat pitch. I mean 30 inch
seat pitch is very uncomfortable. JetBlue offers 34 inch seat pitch. I received a bag of pretzels

restaurant at the
airport. However, AirTran does offer the lowest fare.

ATL to MDW about 3 weeks ago. This flight was a last-minute substitution for a
Delta flight I missed due to a very late-arriving connection. I'm pleased Airtran had a flight to
MDW so late in the evening, but the flight itself was memorable in how uncomfortable it was. I'm
over 6 feet tall and having my knees jammed into a metal bar holding the seat pocket was hell. I'm
grateful the person sitting ahead of me didn't recline her seat! If I have to go somewhere no other
carrier at Midway (O'Hare is quite out of the way for me) flies to I'll take Airtran, but in all
cases where there's a choice of another carrier, I'll go with the other carrier. My knees are more
important to me than saving a few $$ and having to visit Atlanta.

Travelled form NYC to Akron Ohio at Christmas. Beats the hell out of spending a day of your life
driving through Pennsylvania. Service excellent and planes punctual. Electronic check in seemed to

was a Boeing 717 which are now obsolete so hopeful they'll upgrade to something a bit bigger.

MCO-ATL-SFO. Decided to see what was happening in the discount world and was very
pleasantly surprised. Check in at Orlando was swift and easy. Smiling
faces, happy to help, processed my upgrade in seconds and even had a moment
to chat about where I was going to. Boarding was equally swift. The MCO to
ATL is a short flight, service in the sparkling new cabin with leather seats
was polite, and easy going. Arrived ATL early, met at the gate by an agent
with directions to my next flight. Transit time in ATL was less than 45
minutes. Boarding on the SFO flight was slightly longer, only because it
was a full flight. AT offers a business class, with plush leather seats and
a cabin crew that is just so perky it reminded me of what flying use to be.
They only offer drinks on this flight and all the snacks you can eat, but
they make up for it with an attitude that the main line carriers can only
dream of today. Arrival at the SFO international terminal was slightly late
because of weather. I'll fly AT again in a minute!

I gave Air Tran a try on Atlanta/Dallas/Miami trips this summer because of the promotional fares in
Business Class. I came away with the impression that few of their employees are happy people-very
few smiles and some are just flat grumpy. And while the Business Class seats are fine, the economy
seats are downright uncomfortable. Because I regularly shop fares before I travel, I discovered
that Delta beats Air Tran hands down on last-minute fares between Atlanta and Dallas and Florida. On
a recent trip between Atlanta and Dallas, Delta's roundtrip coach fare beat Air Tran's by $140 on a
last-minute web purchase. My experience over the last several weeks is that Delta is beating Air
Tran's fares in these markets on these flights by at least $50. While Air Tran markets itself as a
"low cost" carrier, they clearly are not. I have learned that you cannot take their published web
fares at face value, as they don't reflect the junk fees, which Delta builds in to their fares.
When you add the junk fees to Air Tran's fares, you're over the top. I am also shy of Air Tran due
to the number of incidents with their aircraft, the most recent of which involved the loss of an
engine cover off an Airbus following a departure from Atlanta. Lastly, Air Tran has odd schedules.
For example, there were no Atlanta/Dallas departures between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on a recent
Friday.

AirTran Airways from Atlanta to BWI in August 2004. First time with this airline.
Check-in friendly and attentive. Boarding announced at gate C4. When arriving there, changed to D2
(can you imagine what that meant). Aircraft B717 sparkling clean, very friendly cabin attendants,
drink with pretzels (why do American airlines all give out pretzels).
All in all, a surprisingly positive experience with an airline that shows that even as a low-cost
you can do a good job.

Was nervous about booking on ATA, but I could not refuse their $120 RT fare from Chicago to
Orlando. I was pleasantly surprised with service. Their Boeings are spanking new and state-of-the-

to change my plans last minute and fly out of DCA instead of MCO. The customer service was quick and
friendly.

The seat pitch on 717 aircraft are as follows. All rows are not the
same. Row 10-20 is a 30" pitch, Row 21-22 (Emergency Exit row) 39" pitch,
Row 23-28 is a 30" pitch, Row 29&30 is a 29" pitch and Row 30 & 31 is a 30" pitch.
The A320 has a different seat pitch depending on the particular aircraft. The pitch runs between 31
and 34 inches and the width of the seat is between 17.2 and 18.0 inches

I have flown approximately 50 round trips on AirTran in the past 13 months. For a "low-cost"
carrier, they do an excellent job.
While their business class is definitely not First Class compared to the legacy airlines, it does
exactly what its intended to do. It enables the average person (leisure or business traveler) to
have a more comfortable seat at an inexpensive price. Hey for $35-$50 each way, why doesn't
everyone upgrade! Second, what a great way for AirTran to increase their incremental revenue. If
none of the seats were booked, they have the potential to add up to $420 per flight in upgrade fees.
While that isn't a huge number, take it across the board for the total number of flights per day; it
certainly could add up. It would be interesting to know the additional revenue they get from it.
All in all, AirTran is a great airline. As with ALL airlines, I have had time issues and luggage
issues occasionally, but thats the norm if you travel much. (Luggage in Atlanta is always a monster
regardless of the airline.)

Tim : I agree with one thing - the seat is ALL that Air Tran's Business Class is about, but that's not saying much.

Air Tran's Business Class is all about the seat. Based on the upgrade price I find it hard to
believe that anyone would expect it to be a First Class experience. The upgrade fee covers the cost
of sitting in a larger seat with a little more legroom. Drinks taste the same in a plastic cup as a
glass.

AirTran ATL-IAH and return. It was nice to be able to upgrade to "business class" for only a
small fee at the ticket counter, but I agree with another comment on this forum
- the service in the
same as economy except for a bigger seat. They give you coupons for two free drinks. This is
probably a good policy for all airlines. It might prevent some ugly situations inflight with unruly
drunk passengers. I was disappointed, though, that AirTran chooses to serve those drinks in the same
plastic cups you get in economy. It's not a major point, but glass does help distinguish what
service there is in Business from that in economy. I've flown many airlines, and I've never had
drinks in plastic cups in Business (except for pre-takeoff drinks on domestic flights -- just never
in the air).

I recently flew business class on Airtran back in January and found the airline attendants to be
very courteous. Business Class seats are pretty comfortable and lots of legroom to stretch your
legs. The only thing I didn't like is the 5 hr ride from Orlando to Boston because there were no
direct flights. That really sucked!! Overall, Airtran gives you great service. I am planning another
trip soon and it will probably be with Airtran again

I booked my flight from Fort Lauderdale to Rochester, NY via Air Tran's Website. Air Tran's website
specifically stated that no change of plane in ATL was necessary - it was billed as a through
flight. We arrived in ATL 2 hours late due to air traffic problems, but I was not worried since my
aircraft was going on to ROC. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the plane I was on was going
on to Milwaukee and that I would have to deplane and speak with an agent. My flight from ATL to ROC
had already departed, but I was told not to worry, I'd be booked on the next
flight - 6 hours
later. I flew in their "business class" which had the most uncomfortable seats anywhere.
Oh - and
Air Tran does not provide pillows on their aircraft. Flight was so bad, i cancelled my return trip
and booked on DELTA. I contacted Air Tran via their website but after 3 weeks, have still heard
nothing from them. I guess they don't care.

I recently completed a trip from Miami to New Orleans via Atlanta in Business class. This was my
first time with Air Tran and I found them quite professional. The flights were all on time and the
aircraft were all clean and comfortable. The flight attendants are basically OK but nothing special.
Service in Business Class is really no different than coach you just get a bigger seat and more
legroom. That's really it. If their flight attendants improved their attitudes and were more
professional they would really have a great product.

I flew AirTran recently both coach and business class (first class?) with my family from Boston to
Fort Myers. We got off to a rocky start as we received notice a couple of weeks in advance and
realized that the Boston-Atlanta-Fort Myers itinerary now included a stop (but no plane change) in
Baltimore on the way to Atlanta. Ughh. That said, both the coach flight and the business class
flight were on-time and surprisingly pleasant. The flight attendants (especially business class )
were more pleasant than the sometimes beleagered and "chip-on-shouldered" flight attendants I find
on domestic major carriers.

My experience this past weekend with airtran was horrendous. From BWI to
Atlanta, then west Palm?
We were "involuntarily" denied boarding in Atlanta, even though we had our seats assigned...It took
14 hours to get to Florida, no communications from superiors in Airtran. My 3 children and I were
exhausted and disappointed. And, unbelievably, the same issue during our return ,yesterday, Feb
16th - I was a 16 hour journey from Florida to Baltimore - again, seats given away, even though we
printed our boarding passes off the net the day before. Rude ticket counter personnel, No
communication to customers. Over-booking is the problem. Planes sold out, seats taken away, lack of
communication. Terrible experience.

My company of choice because of the kind way a passenger is treated. My 4 daughters also use
the airline extensively - no hassle check in, and through security in a matter of minutes.
Best of all new Boeing aircraft.

AirTran has been the best of the 5 carriers I have flown in the past yr. I have been late because
of security check-point back-ups, I have even been sick on a flight and have always had service with
a smile! I will only fly AirTran from here on out! I will be a loyal patron of theirs.

I flew from CAK to MCO and back. The flight was no different than the other airlines I flew from
CLE to MCO and FLA. The price was less at the time and the flights were direct. This was the 1st
time I flew with AirTran. It was nice to fly in and out of CAK instead of CLE. I would fly AirTran
again to Florida if the price was right.

I recently had my 1st flight on Air Tran from Tampa to Dallas and return. Thank goodness someone
told me about being able to upgrade. The service was excellent but this must be the airline for
midgets and very small people. I don't think I've ever experienced smaller seats or less leg room.

Air Tran recently came to Wichita Ks with a subsidy from Wichita taxpayers I thought at first this
is a really great thing to happen even though we had to subsidize them to stay here I've flown
several times and recently I needed to go to Charleston SC so I checked on Airtran flights and
found Delta to give me a better fare. With this fare increase I no longer feel that this is a bargain
for people of Wichita Ks. We had these types of airlines in Wichita before with no subsidy. What are
we paying for.

I flew Airtran HOU-MKE with a layover in ATL , the flight was delayed in Houston for 20 minutes due
to weather conditions. When we arrived in Atlanta I had 10 minutes to find my next flight before
takeoff. The economy seats on the new B717 were very uncomfortable and not much of a recline. But the
crew was great and the food for both of the 2 hour flights where snacks that
don't fill you up. Over-
all the flight was ok, But I wouldn't fly again unless it was in business.

I recently flew AirTran LGA-CAK-LGA and was able to take advantage of their $30 upgrades on both
flights. I had never flown them before, and their service is comparable to the service I routinely
get on the East Coast shuttle flights- snacks and drinks with excellent service. Considering I paid
about $170 round-trip in business class I think AirTran is a very good value for the money

A good no-frills airline, offering specially on their website GREAT web fares. Moving from the
Washington DC area to Miami, I'm glad I can also count on them in South Florida for my travel needs.
Good Boeing 717. Modern, usually clean. And one can select seats when booking on
aitran.com.
Recommend this airline for passengers just trying to get there with no frills.
