OOL/KUL/OOL The day flight OOL-KUL was a most pleasant flight and could not be faulted given
the fare paid. Check - in 10 mins, boarding and departure on time. A330 near new and clean,
individual entertainment screens, attentive cabin crew, meal tasty, seating acceptable at
rear of aircraft (2x3x2) Up front looks a little cramped. Return flight check in at OOL
LCCT slow for whatever reason. It took 1 hour, aircraft near new and clean, departure on
time, lighting dimmed for sleep, sufficient leg room ( 180 cm tall) to sleep but if seat
back reclined just a little - it would be possible to be comfortable and get some shut eye.
Beer warm also from KUL. Overall - excellent value for money - have had far worse flights on
more expensive carriers.

MEL-KUL A330-300. Flight departure 30mins late. Overall, good experience but narrow seating in
Economy and fact seats don't recline could make some uncomfortable on long haul. Low cost
airline so all food etc has to be paid for. Food & entertainment can be pre-booked online for
a small discount. Food was very average and inflight service reasonable. Return flight
departed on-time however no aerobridge at KL'S Low Cost Carrier Terminal so you have to walk
to aircraft on tarmac. Flight was good however airline should review some sort of cut off time
to the amount of alcohol that be served. It was a nightmare 8 hour flight with 4 young guys
consuming ridiculous amounts of beer until 40mins before we landed. Flight crew kept serving
them and they were very loud keeping everyone in the cabin awake on the overnight flight. Due
to crew being young they may have been hesitant in confronting the situation. I'm was
disgusted by the behaviour of these passengers. Some crew training needed in this department.

STN-KUL-KUL-STN. Bag drop at check in was quick compared with people queuing in the main
queue. Strongly advise web check in, 48 hours before, to avoid any queues. Legroom in
economy is spacious compared with other airlines - however seats do need urgent attention due
to broken headrests and worn padding. The meals are small - opt for the Malaysian option,
online, due to the poor quality of the international option. If you intend to buy beverages on
board use Ringgits, because you are excessively overcharged if you use other currencies. E-
Players are not a good option due to faulty batteries. The cabin crew are attentive, helpful
and look after the passengers always with a smile. Flight to KUL arrived 40 minutes before
schedule. On return leg there was a delay at KUL due to the late arrival of the aircraft from
China. Although a one hour delay does not normally present a problem it may be crucial if it
means missing the last train back into Central London. Overall Air Asia X are delivering a
very good product that can only go from strength to strength once it tweaks the small problems
that currently exist.

Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur with Air Asia. Terrible check-in at Melbourne Airport. Old A330-300,
seat configuration was 3x3x3 that was cramped, leg room was almost unbearable. Food was almost
not edible, cabin crew were average. Generally the service in LCCT at Kuala Lumpur was so
much better than in Melbourne airport! Don't expect too high on Air Asia X and basically you
will get what you paid for the low fare!

Cabin Flown: | XL Seat |
STN-KUL-PER-KUL-STN. Premium/XL seats for all legs. A340 from STN was old style business class
seats 6 across the cabin, which provide real comfort. Inflight service was hit and miss but
mostly good. E-players good with a reasonable selection of films & music. Pre-ordered food
wasn't much good, small portion and not very tasty. Having to re-check my luggage in KL each
time wasn't ideal, but was quick, only 28 mins from landing to having my bags checked in on
the way out. A330 KUL-PER-KUL had 38 inch pitch seats in 7 across cabin configuration. Think
Premium economy - comfortable and slept well. No recline - you slide the seat base forward.
You get what you pay for, and I got a very cheap journey from the UK to Australia in comfort.
One thing that detracted on the whole trip was the excessive delay back at STN to receive my
baggage, as it took more than 1 hour to arrive.

Cabin Flown: | Economy |
KUL-PER return, Economy & XL seats. Arrived at LCCT and asked at check in desk if it was
possible to upgrade from economy to XL seat. This was available at 300RM per person so I took
advantage of this offer - 24 hrs earlier I checked the price of XL seats for my flight and
they were 1099 RM per person. XL cabin nice but not anywhere near Business Class. Seats wider
and a bit more comfy than Economy seats yet they still do not recline and are impossible to
sleep in. But for 300RM extra they are a bargain. Would I pay 1099 RM for them - no! Flight
was on time, attendants were, well, attendant and all in all a really nice flight except for
inability to sleep! Return flight was in economy as the upgrade at Perth was 250 AUS$ or about
800RM per person! Economy seats very slim and luckily we had 2 seats at rear of plane were
configuration becomes 2x3x2 rather than 3x3x3. God help you if you have a non slim person sit
next to you - you would get squashed!!! Seat pitch though was reasonable. Flight also had
its share of noisy Australian 40'something males on a weekend trip to KL. Prebooked meal was
very small but tasty. Unlike normal Air Asia meals which are cheaper, bigger and there are
more options. Overall Air Asia X is an acceptable low cost airline but the seats are a
nightmare. XL seats are better but can be expensive. For a 5 hr flight they are okay, but
for overnight think carefully about using them as opposed to a normal carrier. If money is
important to you then by all means book AirAsia X but you get what you pay for. I will only
use if they are half the price of mainline carriers.

KUL-STN-KUL on a last minute business trip. Bought Premier seats both ways, booked meal online
and extra baggage allowance on the return leg. Flights OK apart from a few details. Timings
are awful - arrive into Stansted late at night and travel options are limited. Departure at
0105 is fine but don't count on airport duty free - closed! Service on board prompt but
language skills of FA's are hit-and-miss resulting in order mix-ups. Food adequate but I feel
ripped off for paying RM5 for a 300ml bottle of water where airside in KL LCCT a 500ml bottle
costs RM2! Because we are not allowed to take our own food/drink on board, basic essentials
like water should be more affordable as it is a 13 hour flight. Air Asia claims it is because
of the "food restrictions of certain cultures" but I believe it is more about in-flight sales-
how can there be any issue either religious or cultural with water? Muslims don't drink
alcohol but they sell beer/wine and duty free alcohol on board. Generally food on board is a
bit of a rip-off.

KUL-STN-KUL on the A340. I was apprehensive about flying long-haul with a low cost carrier but
it was fine. No individual TV monitors. Excellent value for money; both segments on time. I
wish immigration was quicker.

Gold Coast (OOL) to KL and return. Check in very slow, both times well over 2hrs. This caused
the first flight to be delayed by more than an hour. There were quite a few counters open,
they just worked very slow. Received pre-ordered meals, but nothing to write home about.
Brought our own DVD player, so no comment on entertainment. Seats were very tight and
uncomfortable. If you are over 175cm you should not fly long distances. Customer Service was
non-existent. Would not fly with them again, even if cheap.

PER-KUL. Flight time, cabin service, meals all what to expect on budget airline.
Economy seats quite uncomfortable, will be upgrading to XL seats for return.

KUL-MEL. We flew Air Asia X almost purely for the scheduling. We sprung the extra for XL
seats. While not big people we appreciated the extra room and comfort of the seats in the
A300-300 we flew. The flight was quiet, entertainment quite good and food was fine if small in
portion. The crew were excellent. We'd fly them again - only issues were a bent foot rest
that didn't want to move and the touch screen on the IFE was wobbly. Having to pay for the
entertainment was something of a surprise, it's not clear on the website, but RM28 (A$9.30) is
hard to quibble with.

OOL-KUL-OOL. The daytime flight from OOL to KUL was great, flight on time, meal fine, service
very good, value for money. The return overnight flight back was the opposite. Check in at
LCCT took 1.25 hours (only 15 mins at OOL), beer was warm and staff took ages to respond to my
request for assistance. There wasn't enough leg room to sleep properly and the staff made
announcements at odd hours with all of the lights on which broke up the sleep even more.
However, considering the price it was good value for money.

KUL-STN-KUL. I was generally surprised that seating in standard class was acceptable to me at
least. The only thing was that the window seating legroom was cramped because of the IFE boxes
under the seats in front. If the arrival time into STN is pushed forward to the early morning
instead of just before midnight, then it will be perfect timing. The return at 0125 is just
right as you will have a full day in London or wherever, before checking in for the return
flight. Also by then the airport will be without the crowds and security checking is a breeze.
Managed to get in a lot of sleep during both sectors and for the price paid, I have no
complaints.

KUL-HGH return, RM620 including tax is amazing compare with MH (no direct flight between KUL
and Hangzhou), prepaid meal a disaster, seats were narrow and legroom was tight. Staff were
busy selling food and duty free despite it was midnight flight. Would fly again but not on a
long-haul flight.
