KUL to PER and decided to go for XL seat, since it's a midnight flight. For other airlines
with a midnight departure, cabin lighting are normally kept at a minimum, but because Air Asia
want to generate as much sales from meals and gifts, the cabin lighting was turned to the
maximum. Public announcements were also too loud and despite having earplugs, I was
constantly being woken up. The XL seats were much better in terms of leg room and would
recommend these to anyone that is more than 6ft.

Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur and back. I could not recline my seat and the food that I pre-
ordered online was inadequate. I pre-ordered an international meal that I expected to have
something like hot dog plus bread, but I was served BBQ chicken which tasted more like curry
spicy chicken. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it's good for the price that I paid
for. I would fly Air Asia X again but not for the food.

LON-KUL. Long delay from 6pm to 4am takeoff (flight crew over hours) but well informed by text
and put up in a hotel with meal at airport as we had flown in to Stansted from Ireland.
Flight comfortable. Overall very good service - assuming the delay was outside their control.

SGN-KUL, KUL-SUB return. 3 of the 4 flights were delayed by more then 1.5 hours. To change
flight in KUL low cost terminal was a nightmare. No chance to transfer in the airport even
only hand-carry and web check-in. Long walks at KUL low cost terminal. Need immigration to
Malaysia both ways. Information on delays were lousy. Request for window seat was always
denied with the argument "full flight" - which was not true. But onboard staff friendly and
web check-in easy. Will consider other carrier next time.

KL-Hangzhou return. Food was excellent. Service great and plane was comfortable enough. On
the way back, they mixed up the food request and wouldn't correct it so they lose points for
that. For the price of tickets, it's hard to complain about slight inferior service. Service
compared to North American carriers is outstanding.

Similar to previous reviews but this time with my own experience. The cabin was cold (but I
got jumpers with me). The pre-ordered food was very basic and luckily I brought few snacks
myself. Brought cash to pay for drinks etc. The seats were very tiny even when I was seating
at XL seats (return MEL-KUL). The XL seats wouldn't recline although ground staff promised it
would. As a result I was awake the entire flights. The entertainment system was a waist of
money, couldn't hear a thing properly (worse than watching pirate movies). Staff seemed
polite. Overall this airline is very poor and compared badly to other budget airlines like
Jetstar or Virgin. I will not recommend people to fly with this airline if you can spare extra
money for a little bit of comfort during long flights.

STN-KUL-STN. Only 25% full outbound and half full on the home trip, so plenty of space to
stretch out. Leg room and recline in standard seats was fine, and planes looked new. The price
was ok - but in retrospect we could have taken Malaysian or KLM for just a little more as
their prices dropped since the start of Air Asia X ticket sales. The night flight back was
very cold, wish I brought more clothes. Pre-ordered meals were adequate, but limited and badly
presented. Cabin staff was good - but there were two middle-age Brits in the back (not
travelling together and sitting apart) who had each brought their own tax free booze and
proceeded to get drunk and start mumbling and falling over onto other passengers - and the
crew did nothing about them - taking their bottles away early on in the flight would have been
a good start. Spouse also travelled KUL-Tianjing-KUL and got diverted to Beijing due to bad
weather at Tianjin. Despite nearly all passengers wishing to get off at Beijing (as it was
their final destination anyway), AirAsia made them all sit and wait on the plane for 7 hours
(at first refusing to hand out food/drink) before finally flying them the 30 minutes east to
Tianjin, arriving too late for the last train to Beijing. Spouse then shouted at Air Asia
staff so long and hard that they paid for her taxi to Beijing.

Have flown twice on Air Asia to & from Australia without any complaints. However would be wary
of flying on to London if the seats are the same as on the Australia route. Ie they do not
recline. Value for money on short trips and will continue to use them on Australia route.

Coolangatta - Kuala Lumpur return. On time departures all the time. Nice new A330. Cabin
looked great. The Staff were friendly and efficient. I also enjoyed the food. However I have
never experienced such a narrow, comfortable seat! For the whole eight hour flight I shuffled
from position to position trying to relieve the discomfort all to no avail. The shell of the
seat is fixed but, with a lot of struggle, you can eventually force the seat cushions to slide
forward slightly. This only relieved things slightly but rammed your knees harder into the
solid seat in front. The sliding cushion thing doesn't work. It was such a relief to board a
local Air Asia A320 flight in KL with soft leather economy seats. They felt like first class
luxury compared to those miserable things in the A330. Won't stop me from using Air Asia X,
but I'll just remember to take strong painkillers before boarding their next A330.

Perth-Kuala Lumpur-Penang, excellent value for money. The pre-purchased meal wasn't that
flash - more like a dinner meal than a breakfast. The seats did not recline on Perth Kuala
Lumpur leg which was the only real negative - it had seat back entertainment. Interestingly on
the much shorter Airbus flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang the seats did recline! The LCC hub
at KL needs some organisation but given how busy it was it still worked. The staff in were
friendly and aircraft were very clean. In our view very good service all round for a low cost
carrier.

Stansted to Kuala Lumpur return. Timing was perfect, as well as legroom. On the way back we
had a seat with headrests falling off. This shouldn't take much time to fix but it seems a
common problem in this aircraft. Otherwise the prebooked food and comfort kit were good, but
would like to have some entertainment available other than the entertainment centers which
only last for 6 hours. Paid 250 GBP for the round trip, no other airline can match that price.
But you get what you pay for, just a seat on a 13 hour ride.

PER-KUL, KUL-REP, PNH-KUL, KUL-PER. Flights between Perth and Kuala Lumpur is operated by
AirAsia X on new A330 aircraft. The flights were probably about 70% full, which made for a
fairly comfortable flight. The interior of the A330 aircraft is nice, with leather seats.
The only complaint is that the seats do not recline - also the seats are quite narrow.
Food, drinks and entertainment is available to purchase - we pre-booked all of the above on
the internet as you save money doing it this way. The meals are okay - I much prefer the
catering on AirAsia (AK) flights to AirAsia X. The entertainment is good for a low cost
carrier - there is seatback entertainment at about a cost of AUD $11 with a reasonable
selection of movies and tv shows (certainly not comparable to most legacy carriers - but
sufficient for a 5hr flight.) Flights between KL and Cambodia were operated by AirAsia on
A320 aircraft. Again, aircraft new and well presented - however the cabin was not as clean as
I had experienced on AirAsia X. I like the Malaysian food choices on AK, the Nasi Briyani
was one of the tastiest airline meals I have eaten. All in all I was impressed by Air Asia -
especially given that our airfares were considerably cheaper than the other options available.

PER-KUL A330-300. Flight on time, aircraft clean and was kept so by friendly and professional
cabin staff. My pre-paid meal was OK. As for the seating, they have configured the A330 as
3x3x3. Although the seat pitch in the rear cabin is not bad at 31 inches, typical seats are
just 16 inches wide. I paid extra for a "hot seat" in an exit row, extra leg room but one
armrest immovable. The middle seats of the front rows are just 14 inches wide and have no tray
table - I am not sure they even sell these seats, maybe they give them away to toddlers? The
FA told me the airline deliberately chose non-reclining seats, but these ones are very
strange. I got a great fare, but I would rather have paid more for a normal width seat.

I flew to Stansted, UK from Kuala Lumpur on a round trip. Timing was excellent on both
sectors. No complaints on the flight, but attendants need more training on language skills and
confidence building. Emphasis more on appearance than actual skills. Food served especially in
and out of Europe could be much improved as they carried a reasonable amount of foreigners.
Onboard purchases by credit card warranted a 30.00 ringgit commission - a real rip-off.
Economy class seats with many head rests falling off. Reading lamps do not work at all.
Overall they need to improve things a great deal. Low cost does not mean you are dealing with
animals.

Air temperature in the cabin KUL to Melbourne was far too cold. Blankets are not effective to
counteract the cold air con. Buying meals and services is fine but buying water is extremely
disturbing when its necessary with long haul to drink and passengers are not allowed to bring
their own water. Instead on this icy box of a plane you had to drink ice cold water.
It may be cheap but comfort is very important. Warmer air please. And whats with the non-
reclining seats! That is just wrong.

Have flown AirAsia on trips to Bali, Hangzhou, Melbourne, etc. During trip to London decided
to upgrade to XL seats. Large and comfortable business class style seats, extremely relaxing
for a long flight. XL seat is the only option if I fly long haul again.

KUL - MEL return. Both flights on time, value for money. However, seats are very narrow and
it's no fun if you're stuck in the middle (3x3x3). They slide forward instead of recline, but
its quite pointless unless you have ample legroom, because your body doesn't get to stretch
out with the seat, and for taller passengers this means your head will still be stuck in the
upright position. Not exactly ergonomic for 7 hours. Outbound pre-booked seats in row 8 and
9, which is the front end of standard seating. Booked the window bulkhead seat (extra RM25),
but someone took it and I got the aisle seat (extra RM100) instead. Not sure about the
rationale behind the discrepancy in pricing, but so long you're in bulkhead or exit row should
be good. Legroom on row 9 and beyond (1st standard section) was horrendous, similar to Air
Asia's A320. Friends decided to move to the back after take-off (someone occupied the middle
seat) and it was a world of difference. Not only was the cabin cool and comfy, legroom was
also decent (close to 32") and there were ample empty seats to stretch out. I later moved to
exit row 42, which of course the FA came to tell me I can't sit there, but I said my original
seat was row 8 and she left me alone. This particular plane also wasn't equipped with PTVs.
Inbound Check-in queue was horrendous but there was a separate counter for internet check-in
and bagdrop. Pre-booked row 9 and requested for change of seats but was told not possible
since the seat has already been fixed. This one had PTVs and cost rm30 to access, however the
seat-to-seat chat function was free and we had fun chatting with another friend seated far
away. Again the centre seat was taken and we tried moving up to the rm25 row 8 window seat,
but was told to go back. Later into the flight when the lights were off and FAs chatting in
the galley, people just shifted anyhow. Stay away from the front section of standard seats, as
that's where most of the people tend to choose, go to the back where its more pleasant. But of
course, engine noise is more audible. Meals - with pre-booked options you will receive
whatever you've ordered (Malaysian or international), kit kat bar and a 250ml bottle of water.
Meal portions are seriously small and I don't think its necessary for red-eye flights, having
to eat roast chicken or nasi lemak at 12am or 4am is weird. You can redeem pre-paid meals
anytime. Despite shortcomings, I got what I paid for, and pleasantly satisfied.
