Avoid the bank/cash exchange at the arrivals terminal. I asked here if there was an ATM machine to use my travelcard
to withdraw the cash which was available on this card, for which no bank fees are chargeable from an ATM. The
assistant did not know if there was an ATM in the airport. I find this impossible to believe. To use my travelcard
here, for Euros300 I was charged Euros65, a whopping 16% fee plus another administrative fee. Any visitors arriving
at Marco Polo airport with a travelcard should avoid using this facility and look for the ATM, which I now know are
available in the airport, or wait until you arrive in Venice itself.

Flew out 25 Feb 2013 at 19.35. Waited for Air Berlin check in counter to open about 45 minutes. Two staff
worked hard to process all, but it was a lengthy process. Hand luggage must be weighed and tagged, too.
Moderate line at security. As others have stated the Pre-security side of facility is seriously lacking in
services and most staff were rude. Once inside security it is a beautiful airport with lots of shopping and
reasonable food choice. Hard to hear announcements even though sitting at Gate. Did not allow check in
until 2 hours prior to take off time. Day before our flight a family member missed flight out of Marco Polo
when security seemingly shut down. It cost them over 900 € to book alternative to make Dublin connection
for flit home to US. So a different tale of one city. We count ourselves lucky.

23 Feb 2013. Venice to Dublin with Aer Lingus. Firstly when leaving the bus the signs for check in are
contradictory. Secondly, there was only one person to check in the entire flight. The airport is a nightmare
with a shocking lack of personnel and some of the rudest people I have ever met. The security queue was
very long indeed and actually went out of the building. It took me almost 3 hours in lines to get to the gate
only to be rudely treated. A few people were denied boarding and I was bussed to the flight alone in a coach.
The flight was delayed by a good 45 mins and the cabin crew told me they hated the airport! It is clear that
the situation at Venice airport is a cause for concern.

Venice to Munich on Air Dolomiti LH1905 at 7.00 am, 26 October 2012. Surprisingly busy terminal at 5.30 am
with line-up for four of five functioning check-in machines. Two young staff members did an excellent job of
assisting passengers to input flight information and line diminished quickly. Long, slow line to security
check which we by-passed as our flight was brought forward to an earlier flight which was already boarding.
Staff were pleasant, efficient. Our slightly overweight cases were processed without comment. Because of
the flight change, we did not see any of the terminal facilities but everything seemed to be clean and well
signed. Repairs were being done quickly on mal-functioning check-in machine. Our experience was brief,
early in the morning but positive.

Dropped our rental car at the airport to get a water taxi into Venice. Long walk from the terminal buildings;
thank goodness it wasn't raining. Also noticed overgrown sidewalk "gardens". It seems we were lucky to have
booked a 10pm flight out of Venice, this meant no congestion at check-in or security. Most of the shops
seemed to be closing by about 9pm. Didn't seem to be many seats for waiting passengers at gates. Business
class Marco Polo lounge was quite crowded, no self-service and just one person serving. Some things were
very strange: large communal bottles of mineral water and stacked plastic glasses, a big open bowl of crisps,
dried out slices of pizza - one's plate was a small flat lid (yes, a lid!) of a take-out dish. Were happy to
leave on time.

This airport does have some good facilities and some horrible ones. Check-in procedure is straightforward:
counters are easy to find, there are also clear directions in case you have booked flights that require you to
go to reserved check-in counters which are located on the ground floor, while all the others are on first floor.
Security check is carried out very fast and smoothly (it is also more comfortable for people that have
problems with full body scanners since at this airport they've been dismantled and they only use traditional
metal detectors). The duty-free area is very big and well organized. It is also quite simple to get directions
to reach the gates when it's boarding time. However, the worst area of the airport is surely the "Arrivals"
area; it's just horrible: there is an insufficient number of belts, so they will throw luggage from 3 to 5 flights
on the same belt, one after the other with like 5 minutes pause between the flights. While it is always easy
to get your luggage, sometimes people from all the flights will stay along the belt even if it's not their time,
so if you're not lucky you might want to fight your way through the belt to get your things back. Another
problem is actually the very poor amount of restrooms: there are actually 2 restrooms for the whole check-in
area; it's easy to imagine that they're full all the time and they get dirty instantly.

This airport is a joke. Long and open walkway between terminal and water taxis. Gardens all unkempt. Worst
of all is the marco polo lounge. First they have the most bureaucratic procedure to get in, the shower is
terrible, they give you paper towels to wipe yourself after shower all given at the front counter! Then there no
self service on drinks. You have to wait for someone to serve you and that can take an eternity. Absolutely
terrible way to finish a visit to Venice.

Very difficult to understand where airlines check-in counters are located. Long lines for security checks. Poor

dimensions.

Really dreadful airport. The queues for Jet2 were horrendous, check in didn't open until 2 hours before flight
due to leave, but even though we had been in the airport queuing for 1 hour before check in opened, it still
took us till 15 minutes before the plane was due to leave to get our boarding passes etc (not able to check in
on line as it was a charter flight). Next, the queue for security was the entire length of the airport! Last call
for our plane was made, and we were still only half way down this queue. Many signs around the airport
blaming the Italian government for the hold-ups, but the problem was the queues, which could have been
sorted if there was enough staff on duty! Fortunately, the plane was delayed, and we managed to get on, but
never again from Venice for me!

We had the misfortune to encounter this airport yesterday 11th August 2012 travelling with an 87 year old
man. We can definitely agree with a lot of the views here about the inability of the management and staff of
Marco Polo to plan anything well. Arrived at this airport in plenty of time for our flight home to the UK to find
a very long queue waiting to check in at the Easyjet desk. Unfortunately two EZY flights were leaving within
5 minutes of each other and check-in was ill-prepared to say the least. Made our way to baggage security
where a single line of 200-300 passengers was snaking its way to the scanners. Then made our way to
passport control at gates 21-28. Faced with what can only be described as a rugby scrum with upwards of 500
passengers and just 2 (later 3) desks open checking passports. We queued over 45 minutes and know that at
least 25 passengers missed our flight. We can only describe this as a plate of spaghetti because it's a
complete mess and I hope someone from the airport reads this very accurate review.

Left from Venice on June 30th. Cheapest parking is nr. 3 which is still very close to the terminal, no need to
go for more expensive lots. The problem with this airport is always the same: it is under dimensioned for
peak periods traffic. As some check-ins have already been moved downstairs the whole departures up-arrivals
down scheme should be rethought. Downstairs space look under-utilised while upper floor busts with
passengers. Security is always quick and efficient no matter the flow of passengers. They are using new trays
that are much better than the old baskets. My flight was delayed 4 hours and there are no lounges for paying
travellers. The two lounges on the second floor look very exclusive. There is a business centre with basic
facilities. There are four Internet kiosks before security but only one after and none in the no-schengen area.
Facilities after securities are very good though shops and cafes are expensive. You may face long queues at
passport control accessing no schengen area as there are direct flights to USA and the Middle East. In the
schengen area there are only a small cafe and a small duty free upstairs and only a couple of vending
machines downstairs but they seem to cope with the flow of passengers. Downstairs you may have some
chances of charging your cell phone for free. Toilets are crystal clean everywhere in this airport, it is my best
experience ever under this aspect.

Baggage arrival was quick and transport into central Venice is easy. On return Easyjet check-in was quick,
security straight-forward, with minimal delay. I was surprised to have a swab taken from very light summer
clothing when the scanner sounded. The airport was very quiet mid-week. There is a pleasant, reasonably
priced cafe on the first floor, by comparison with the extortionate ground-floor cafe. Service was laughably
poor, but fortunately, there were few customers as it's so poorly signed. Boarding was usual EJ shambles.
Everyone bussed out, boarded, then told there would be a 45 min. wait because of air-traffic control, in which
time nothing left the airport.

We had the misfortune to suffer this airport yesterday, June 16th, 2012. The whole airport was unable to cope with
the volume of passengers and there were lines of people everywhere. We arrived at the Jet2 check-in queue at 9.30am
for an 11.30am flight to Manchester. Even at that time we were at the back of a long queue and there was just one
very slow girl checking in all the passengers for the flight. After nearly two hours a supervisor appeared and
opened a second desk for those of us at the back of the queue. Otherwise we would still be waiting ! No apologies
were offered and we sensed that this is normal procedure. We had no time to get a drink or use the facilities. We
had to rush to another long line to pass through the security check where the same relaxed,
couldn't care less
attitude was evident and from there we rushed to our gate where yet another long sweaty queue greeted us. None of
us were best pleased when, on boarding the plane, the pilot asked us to hurry as the plane was going to be taking
off twenty minutes late. Clearly this airport is not fit for purpose and its staff are unable or unwilling to cope.

Have just arrived home from Venice. We have had exactly the same experiences as the recent reviews from
Noel Owens and S Nemec. Got to the airport over 3 hours early, unbelievably slow check-in process (Easyjet,
all destinations and 2 check-in staff) and when we finally got to the queue for security it too snaked out of
the building! After several unsuccessful attempts to elicit help from staff, (by now the plane was boarding)
we were directed to the priority (but still slow moving queue) by a helpful BA staff member. Total chaos, and
very stressful, but we at least made the plane, with about 2 minutes to spare, which, it seems is more than
what some passengers have been able to achieve. Also the worst airport experience so far, even worse than
Easyjet's factory farm chicken shed at Barcelona.

Flew out of here on 19/5/12. Arrived 3 hours early for flight! Took 2 hours to check-in luggage, unbelievably
slow check-in process which was stressful with the queue not moving at all for at least half an hour but this
was nothing compared with the scrum to get through security. Staff seemed to be on a go slow. Final call
for our flight so we went through the fast line. Made our flight with seconds to spare but some people didn't.
Avoid this airport.

Our 4/30/12 experience was terrible! Nice new airport but they assigned about 10% in front for boarding
passes, check-ins etc, and saved about 80% of the space for a zillion high end shops, and then left a little
bit for chairs to wait for your flight. The front was a disaster, jammed, with nobody to direct people, lines
snaking around with people standing for hours to check luggage. A KLM flight to Amsterdam meant standing
in a long line, which intersected with another line for Air France, nobody knowing if they were even in the
right place. Success finally, then to the waiting area where many stood some more because there isn't
sufficient seating. Too bad they gave most of the space away to retailers.

Absolute chaos! Had to queue for an hour at check-in, queue wasn't long but staff were just incredibly slow
and didn't seem to have a clue. Had to wait a further hour to get through security in a queue snaking out of
the building! Made the flight with seconds to spare. Even then I was told to wait - for no apparent reason and
separated from my husband. Plane was half empty due to many people missing the flight. Quite simply the
worst airport experience I've ever had. Passengers were left out on a limb with absolutely no guidance or
explanation available and airport staff nowhere to be seen.

Partly the fault of the airline but cramped, noisy and a couldn't care less attitude made this one of the most
stressful departures I have ever made. Queued for 1 hr 10 mins to check-in and then joined a long queue for

Non-Schengen arrival was somewhat slow, but in every other respect this airport is good. Departure was
particularly straight-forward with baggage drop-off operating swiftly. If you need public transport, go to the booth
to the left of the arrivals exit for tickets. If travelling from a non-Euro area, you can use a credit card for the 3 day
pass. Don't bother with confusing ticket machines in arrival. On departure there's plenty of space before you go
through to the gate.

The building is very beautiful and elegant and original compared to the average. For having the feel and traffic of a
major intercontinental airport it is pretty small thus looking overcrowded most of the time. Though lines at the
security are discouraging I always went through at good speed and the personnel is usually kind and efficient. The
baskets they use at security are not very practical. Overcrowding in summer means also that some check-ins are
sometimes moved up and down the two floors. Shops are nice, but few and expensive. I've noticed a general feel
of strictly observing the rules by the staff, so be very careful with your extra kgs. Long stay parking near the
building seems to be considerably more expensive than average, I always get there by train when I can. Last but
not least, cleanliness is excellent.

Leaving Venice started very well at Marco Polo Airport. Check in was efficient, security equally so and then we got
to the gate. There were hundreds of hot passengers battling to get through one gate which seemed to be serving
about 6 flights. We all had our passports and boarding passes at the ready, however it was amazing how long it
took them to pass us through, although they must have known they were holding flights up unnecessarily. No
proper queuing, no crowd control, security guards standing idly by as if this chaos was normal.

That's my airport. I take a flight from here at least 3 times per month.
If you have the "Marco Polo" card, then there is the fast lane for
security and access to Marco Polo lounge. Clean, elegant, excellent view
of the planes and Venice (especially from the Lounge). Check in can be

Tickets for public transport can be bought in arrivals, but machines seemed complicated, and
many fellow travellers gave up. Best way to get to the city centre is via the 'water bus',
which is pretty cheap, and there is a manned counter selling tickets in the main entry of
arrivals. Staff there speak good English. Water bus is scenic, but journey takes around 1 hour
to St Marks ferry terminal. First ferry of the day is around 3 am. Free maps and tourist guides
available in arrivals. Airport security was quick and easy to get through, and nice cafes and
shops security side. Couldn't see a wifi sign anywhere, but wasn't really looking for one to be
honest. Staff seem helpful. Screens didn't announce flight info until last minute.

The check in area was over packed. There were cues to the exit doors and everyone had to push
their way through. My flight was at 12:50. Check in opened at 11:00 and I didn't get to the
front until 12:20. Apparently there was too much luggage below so they stopped all the
conveyor belts at check in. This happened twice for about 20 minutes on each occasion. They
must know they are going to be busy and need to move suitcases around fast. Apart from that
the food was nice in the restaurant before check in and was plenty of seating. There was a
coach which was only 3 Euros from the Mestre train station about 10 minutes away. I paid 40
Euros to get a taxi to the hotel when I got there and only 4.20 Euros to get train/coach back
to the airport. If only I had known there was a Coach before I got there. In departures was
quite empty and was only in there 10 minutes so can't really say much but was clean and big.

I just returned from Venice. My airport experience was quite pleasant. For its size I think the
airport is quite well organized and easy to navigate. The security checks were thorough but not
intrusive. They have special machines to scan shoes so no need to take them off and then hop around
on one foot trying to get your shoes on while gathering your possessions from the x-ray belt. The
restaurant after security offers a nice view of the tarmac and runway.

I've used this airport 5 times to go in and out of Italy and just wanted to say that I have never
bought a ticket for any of the buses because you never have to give it to anyone and no one ever
asks to see it! So if you are in a rush don't even bother! Of course it's not the right thing to
do, but no one cares and when using the public buses in the cities and towns you have to find a
tobacco shop to buy a ticket which is very inconvenient and also very difficult and stressful if you
don't know where you are and where to go! Also to get the buses to stop for you, you pretty much
have to jump out in the street and flag them down way before they reach you! Back to the airport...
it's nice, clean, efficient, but the your food options are slim... stopping by the gelato stand is a
must while you are waiting for your plane, you won't find anything else like it so enjoy it just one
last time!

It's a nice and very clean airport. Check-in and security screening were quick and well-organized.
The departure gates are spacious with much daylight and generous seating areas. Non-Schengen arrival
was slow, unfortunately, as only two passport control booths were manned. Transfer to Venice is
easy, although the blue ATVO buses run only every half hour at weekends. Another option is to take
the Alilaguna boats from the airport jetty: they are time-consuming (1h15min) and expensive (12
euros one-way) but take you directly to Piazza San Marco, which is a huge advantage. Just don't be
fooled by the so-called Alilaguna "Gold" Line: it is only ten minutes quicker than the regular
"Blue" Line but is twice as expensive!

convenient. Check-in took less than 10 minutes and security was adjacent to the check-in desks.

Nice airport, very functional, not too much there that you'd want to hang out long, but gets the job
done and transportation on the blue buses is great, once you get on one. Getting on the bus is an
exercise is survival of the fittest however with a mad dash from the aiport to try and grab a spot
on the bus with no real line just trying to get to the machine, get the ticket and grab the last
spots on the bus and leave everyone else out in the cold. It was dark and freezing and I can see
how many people could be confused and slow in reacting in that scerario, but you need to be ready to
get to the bus and know how the system works in advance and spare yourself a lot of trouble and time
waiting.

A wonderful airport to fly from, quick to get through and bright and
easy to navigate. The shops airside are good and the ice cream stand is

catering facilities airside are appalling, the restaurant is open

As previously reported. modern, clean pleasant airport which can
apparently cope with the passengers it has. Eating facilities were
adequate. Security was courteous and affective although there was a
separate and longer queue for UK and US bound passengers. What delay
there was, was caused by cretinous passengers taking off belts and shoes
etc without being exhorted to do so. The highlight for me was the Marco
Polo lounge which has an open terrace for very pleasant viewing of the
aircraft and last lingering views of the beautiful city. The only thing
they need to crack down on is the smokers going out on to that terrace
to smoke - next to the no-smoking sign.

It was my first trip to Venice and I must admit that VCE Marco Polo is
quite a pleasant airport: airy, short ways and, above all, clean. The
ATVO blue buses are very convenient to reach the city center, they run
every 20 mins and a return ticket costs 5,50 euros. On the negative
side, there was a long queue to buy the bus tickets as the ticket
machine was "temporarily" out of order.

We stayed in Venice and used the buses from Piazzale Roma to and from
Marco Polo several times to meet family etc. The ATVO (blue buses) cost
3 euros and run every 20 minutes. The ACTV (orange buses) are the
public buses, only cost 1 euro, but no luggage space and they stop
several times between airport and Piazzale Roma. We found the blue
buses very efficient and easy to use. You can buy tickets at the ATVO
office in Piazzale Roma (not from ACTV office, who also won't help
you), and at the airport on the bus.

Rory says there are buses running regularly to Venice "old Town". I live near Venice and fly from
Marco Polo a couple of times a month and can say from experience that the buses run to and from
Mestre and are usually delayed. Marco Polo is a terrible place to find parking on the weekends and during most times in the year.
Best to either have someone collect you, hire a car or take a taxi to Mestre.

The only convenient way to reach Venice Marco Polo is car, but trouble arise when
it's time to get a park lot in high season. There are just 3 parking lots in airport
area, some others are located nearby are almost full. If you take train, you have to
take a 1\2 bus journey from station to airport and it's impossible to reach airport

I was very impressed with Marco Polo Airport. The shops were beautiful (albeit very expensive) and
plentiful. I was particularly interested in the fine jewellery shop that sold necklaces, etc. in the
duty-free departure lounge. Now I am sorry that I didn't get a brochure or even the name of the
shop. I would be pleased to find out the name of that shop and if they have a website. It sold

I recently flew to Venice through Marco Polo and was very impressed with
the airport (although I was surprised Venice had such a small airport).
The airport is clean with an open, airy feel to it. The staff is very
organized and check in was a breeze. My only complaints were the
inefficiency of the security checkpoint and the lack of decent food
options. The bistro before security is good but crowded. After
security, there were some options but nothing noteworthy. The
Alitalia/Skyteam lounge is a quiet place to relax while waiting for your
flight. Overall, I'd highly recommend Marco Polo for anyone considering
travel to Italy.

This is a quite nice little airport. I used the local bus to get back and forth to Piazale Roma
(the main transit center to Venice) for just a few euros. The business class international
Alitalia/Skyteam lounge was great, with good food/drinks, nice comfort, and high speed internet
access. The place is quite clean and comfortable.

I had the pleasure to visit the most beautiful city in the world, Venice. I flew from AMS to Marco
Polo airport. I was impressed by the new terminal, extremelly elegant with an excellent design.
Nothing to remark, except the beauty of this airport.

The first impression I had after we landing - I in a 5 star hotel or in an
airport? I had the pleasure to stay 2 hours at Marco Polo. I flew from Prague and in was waiting my
connection flight to Milan MXP - I never saw a so clean and organized airport.

It's absolutely a great airport. Ground staff is very professional, there are good facilities, nice
shops, nice lounges. Everything of what every passenger would have in an airport.

The Italians are sometime unsurpassable. I flew 10 days ago from Mexico City to Venice via JFK. I
was more than surprise to see a such great airport. I totally agree with the comments
I read on this
forum. The architecture is impressive and very elegant and the planes on time. I would fly again to
Marco Polo airport.

It's simply great. Very modern, clean and efficient. I was really impressed. It's really beautiful
to sit at the gates and look from the big windows the beauties of the Lagoon. There are very nice
shops, good restaurants and the staff is very friendly. There are 2 big lounges, one for Alitalia
and its Skyteam partners, and one for the other airlines.

I flew to Venice from Copenhagen yesterday, the new Terminal is extremely modern and nice, and the
technology they use is very advanced. The style is very elegant, typical Italian, the flights are on time and the service inside is excellent. Surely it's one of the best airport in Europe,
and also their domestic, European and intercontinental flights will give to this airport a good
future. It's really much better than Milan/Malpensa. When the new railway and subway station will be
ready under the terminal it will be perfect.

The new terminal is now open and is very nice and clean. Facilities are good and what we liked the
most was the general attitude of the staff. I think this has been boosted by the move into the new
building. The lounge we found very nice with a rooftop viewing terrace, which my kids thought was great.
The escalators are very steep and my 3 year old fell back on them. The staff were very attentive and
could not do enough to make sure we were all OK.
