Terminal one excellent throughout. I can see why this is a five-star airport. It only took me 7
minutes to get from the plane door to duty free, make one purchase, clear passport control, get
luggage and clear customs. Excellent speed and efficiency all over. Staff are multilingual.
Singapore has four official languages. Outside customs, plenty of payphones, food / convenience
store / tourism center. Taxi rank is very good and prompt. They charge exactly by the meter. Also
available are Mercedes for rent (minimum 50 Sing Dollars). Toilets were clean! Plenty of food
choices - more than I could list. Extensive duty free / shopping. Independent security check for
each gate, which increases efficiency.

For an airport of its size, you cant beat Changi for ease and speed in getting from plane to taxi
with baggage and also the ease of movement due to the combined and departure concourses. There is no
other competition. This same route takes longer in HK and Incheon with their light rail and single
terminal concept.

Arrived from Bangkok to Singapore on a early morning flight. This airport is a city within itself,
you really do not really need to leave the airport to go shopping, watch a movie, or go for a swim,
its all there! Stayed in the Transit Hotel which I found to be excellent, and got on my flight back
to Melbourne with no problems.

It is a wonder why Changi gets such stellar reviews every year. Yes, it's a good airport in so far
as it is efficient and clean. But there are other efficient and clean airports that don't get as
much praise as Changi. Moreover, there are serious drawbacks that hardly ever get aired. Frequent
travelers don't care about how pretty an airport is, or how good the shopping is. Travelers want to
spend as little time as possible in the airport. Changi is getting worse in this regard. It used to
take under 30 minutes to step off the plane and into the taxi line. Now, it takes longer. Gates at
the new terminal 3 is far away. And the addition of a new terminal necessarily means needing more
staff at immigration. This does not seem to be the case, so spreading out existing manpower over to
the new terminal means longer lines. You never know if you're going to arrive at terminal 3 or
terminal 2 if you flying in on SIA. They play roulette with gate assignments for arrivals. Why?
Perhaps they want to see if there are more passengers tranferring to flights leaving from terminal 2
or 3? What is surer is that it can be irritating to have people meeting you ending up at the wrong
terminal. Many airlines operating in Changi contract to have check in done by airport-linked
personnel. These people have no incentive to be accommodating or flexible. They have no connection
with the airline itself. The result is that they tend to follow the letter of requirements. No
flexibility. If your luggage is a little overweight, they charge you or make you dump stuff. They
charge overweight baggage to the very last kilo. They are unwilling to upgrade passengers, even
frequent flyers, on their own. Staff manning the counter for one airline (which will not be named)
recently said there is a policy of no upgrades, when this was clearly not true (we have been
upgraded on this airline). We recently flew with a pet. We have never been charged so much for
flying a pet than at Changi. Remember, this is contracted staff doing the estimate and leveling the
charge.

Changi has to be the model for other airports around the world. Free Internet
terminals (beware the 15 minute limit per session!), good signage, an excellent,
cheap - SGD$2 and frequent (though poorly publicised to foreigners) metro link
to Singapore's CBD and many suburbs, excellent availability of drinking water
fountains, spacious and clean toilets and comfy snooze chairs ensure it runs
rings around most other worldwide airports - especially price-gouging Australian
and European airports. However, on the downside, walking times (even with the
aid of travelators) for connecting flights can be long, and the Terminal 3
transit hotel can take a first time visitor a few minutes to locate. Duty free
is typically cheaper than Australian airports though Singapore's annoying system
of delivering a purchase to you at the airport gate (where you are waiting)
makes for last minute anxiety if you have left a purchase until an hour before
your flight is due out.

Terminal 3 is the new jewel in the crown at Changi. It is modern and clean with
good shopping facilities. However for those who are frequent economy flyers with
Star Alliance. The lounge is VERY poor - there are no toilets or Showers. I find
this as a frequent flyer, extremely poor. The Silver Kris lounge on the other
hand is extremely luxurious. It seems that frequent economy flyers are not that
important in today's market.

This is a well laid out airport, it has 3 terminals all easy to get to.
Fantastic shopping with a great variation in each terminal, with fabulous areas
to relax for transit passengers . There is a clinic, free showers, even a
sleeping area. Music played live in the common bar areas, also a transit lounge
with televisions and comfortable chairs very relaxing. If you have over 5hrs to
wait for connections, the airport provides the most amazing free tours around
the city and on the water, all so informative and expertly presented.

Penang-SIN-Sydney in Jan with a connecting time of 45 minutes and a transfer
from one of the outlying gates of T2 to the central 'pod' of departure gates at
T3 (from where all the Australian flights leave). I made it through the grouped
security gates at T3 with more than few minutes to spare - they had just
commenced boarding the A380 to Sydney - and my bags made it too. Hats of SQ and
Changi! On a subsequent trip I did some shopping at T2. Pity that T3 has little
by way of mid- priced shops. This comment may also draw some protest, but Changi
is the one airport in the world that treats its smoker passengers with
considerable respect, by giving them well-ventilated neat, clean spaces.

I have travelled through Changi on many occasions, each time has been fantastic.
With free internet access, endless space, tropical fauna, rooftop gardens, hotel
and a swimming pool, give this airport a well deserved 5 star rating.

On the single criterion of traveller service, Changi deserves a 5 star rating
for honesty and efficiency. On a recent transit stop my wife was shopping and
lost her purse. In a phone call from Melbourne that evening the shop confirmed
that it had been found and handed to airport Lost and Found. Their number was
easily found on the airport website, we rang them, they confirmed they had the
purse and gave us a claim number. Emails next day clearly told us our options,
we could either retrieve the purse at our cost or they could send us the
non-cash contents. Within a week the latter arrived. A month later we received
the bank-draft for the monetary contents of the purse, every cent! This probably
says as much about Singaporeans as it does about the Changi airport itself, but
it's still great 5-star service.

An excellent airport in every way! The planners have made every effort to make
the travel experience through Singapore a positive one. The free internet
access, the reasonably-priced shops (including a supermarket under T1 with
standard prices, rather than inflated airport ones), the space, cleanliness and
relaxing ambiance, planty of seating and lie-flat couches for a longer transit,
everything well-signed, and so much more.

Clean, spacious, modern, stylish, quick, helpful staff. The shopping was
amazing, staff were very helpful and security good while still quick! Terminal 3
is very open and spacious and easy to navigate.

I arrived/departed from T1. Arrival was smooth, passport control speedy but our
bags (tagged First Class by CX) took ages to offload. T1 is dated in appearance,
carpet smells musty, and lounges are poorly signposted. Sure the shopping is
extensive (expensive?), but the old T1 doesn't have a clear layout, the low
ceilings don't add to the ambience and generally left me underwhelmed. Maybe
expectations too high? Yet to try T3 - it looks superb driving past. Overall, T1
is efficient, yes, but so are a lot of other airports in Asia.

The new T3 looks fantastic, quiet, clean, modern and peaceful. However, I had to
make a connection from T2 to T3 and had to take 2 trains to get to the gate A19.
The security queues were so long and slow, as unlike T2, 3 security gates are
shared by all flights to Europe which leave more or less at the same time. The
security staff were efficient but lots of people travel with more than two hand
luggage! The staff screened and opened almost every bag, but still let people
carry bottles of water! Nobody seemed to bother to submit toiletries etc in a
plastic bag. Departures to Europe from T3 are almost always delayed due to
security. I prefer previous connections at T2 where security gates are for
individual flights!
