Rotterdam Airport Passenger Reviews and Rotterdam Airport Traveller Reports

There in December 2013, Jan 2014 and Mar 2014. 3 times very quick handling of luggage, etc. comfortable waiting
area and free internet. No queues for Immigration desk. One point that is minor, if you don't know where the bus
to Rotterdam centre is located you may have a problem, however I took a taxi and then it takes only 5-6 minutes.
Its much more agreeable than the big airports like Toulouse, Orly, JFK or even Schiphol (also in the Netherlands).

This is a very pleasant airport, especially compared to Schiphol. It's efficient, staff are friendly and the decor
resembles a hotel lounge rather than the average airport look. At peak times, when a lot of leisure flights
depart, it can however get quite crowded. As this airport is labelled as Rotterdam-The Hague Airport, there has to
be a public transport link to The Hague. This is inadequate, consisting of a small shuttle bus connecting the
terminal with the nearby metro station, where you need to change. It's all a bit of a hassle as the minibus is
often too small for the number of passengers and baggage and runs infrequently outside rush hours. The schedule
should rather be adjusted to the arrival and departure times of flights. Better still would be a direct public
transport link to The Hague.

An airport geared towards business travellers, it's in excellent condition and has very appealing decor - feels
like a hotel lounge. There is also free Wi-Fi, which is welcome. There are very few queues are the majority of
travellers are going onwards to Heathrow and New York, which made for a pleasant change with Transavia than flying
through Eindhoven. Very clean and security methodical. However, the food prices are extremely high, even by
airport standards. But otherwise this is an excellent airport, the most impressive I've used.

I flew to LCY from RTM in the middle of the day when it wasn't busy. The only way to get there by public transport
is the bus from the city centre. Had to ask staff at the ticket counter to open bag drop. Security staff were more
interested in chatting amongst themselves than paying attention to passengers. Food options poor, with shelves
barely stocked. Toilets (air-side) smelt revolting and needed a deep clean. Staff in the duty-free shop were
eating their lunch at the counter, also chatting amongst themselves while 'serving' me. Overall, the staff
throughout the entire airport didn't seem to care. The plus side is it's a small airport and the queuing was
almost non-existent. In summary, I would only use this airport if I were living near to it.

I travelled from London Heathrow to Rotterdam on 2 February 2013 and returned the following day. On the
outward journey I was through immigration/passport control in less than a minute. Arrivals area contains an
information desk which provided useful information on onward connections and provided me with change for
the bus, travel recommendations and a complementary city map. Bus number 33 leaves from virtually outside
arrivals and takes approx 20 minutes to reach Rotterdam Central. It costs 3 euros at the time of writing and
the driver has limited change. On the return journey there was no queue for check-in and virtually no queue
for security. This is a small airport but there are decent airside facilities including a duty free shop, cafe,
newsagent and an upstairs bar (which has an outdoor seating area and viewing platform). If you are
travelling with BA there are no lounge facilities but you are allowed three complementary items from the
airport cafe (for which you will need to complete an information card). Clear information throughout the
terminal and announcements in English and in Dutch. Free Internet in departures which was fast and required
no password. Overall this was a stress free experience and I was impressed with Rotterdam Airport.

As I live nearby it's a convenient airport for me, especially because of frequent flights to London and Southern
France. You can make use of free Internet. Parking is cheap. Connection to Rotterdam City and Port area is good
and quick. Hardly any queuing, you can arrive 10 mins before departure without any problems. Whenever possible
I make use of Rotterdam-The Hague Airport.

Looks like a tin shed for starters. Immigration could not comprehend that I was Asian-
Australian and held me up for ten minutes, flicking through pages of my passport, back and
forth, back and forth. I was the last one on the flight allowed through, even though I was one
of the first off the plane. I can understand that the Netherlands may have a problem with
illegal immigration, but a quick conversation with me would have revealed my fluent English
with an Australian accent. Assuming that someone who isn't white but travelling on a Western
passport is probably illegal is just racist.

I just flew into this airport and not out, so I can only say that the bags arrived very quickly and
efficiently. I will also say that walking from the plane to the terminal and night it seemed as
though we were the only people on earth in the middle of nowhere. I've never been to an airport
that was so quiet. It certainly seemed bereft of planes!

Good shopping for such a small airport. Clean and clear. Cheap car parking compared with Schiphol.
When arriving plane parked in front of terminal, and was outside the building with my checked bag in

Rotterdam Airport is as stated before nice and small. I liked the
viewing platform, and while there is not much to see, it is a better
place to stay then after security. When you see your airplane arrive you
know you still have plenty of time to go through security and catch your
flight! Only thing what may be improved is the price of water, Euro 2,50
for a small bottle is just outrageous, especially since one now is not
allowed to bring a bottle from before the security check.

Rotterdam airport is small but very easy to get to as I live only 10min
away. People are very friendly and helpful. I travel on average 1x per
year, sometimes more, normally I only have hand luggage and have only
once encountered extra checks and body search. I find check in and
arrivals no problem and never had to wait very long. I do think it could
use a few more shops and especially as I fly early morning, it would be
nice to have some kind of breakfast that is not too expensive.

As I live in Rotterdam and have to fly frequently for business, I have
used Rotterdam airport many times. Just take a taxi from the city
center(+/- 20 euro), check in and go. Normally only little waiting time
at the check in and even that can be avoided by check in from internet.
Because of its size it is very time efficient. If you travel a lot and
often early that's what counts. So I try to avoid the bigger airports
like Schiphol and Heathrow, unless I feel the need for a long distance
walk through the endless gates there.

I have used Rotterdam Airport many times, although I had not have heard
of it before a friend suggested I fly there instead of Schiphol. If you
have a flight there and know that you will have to wait for your flight,
DON'T do it here. It is quite a small airport, but more than a couple
of hours or so will leave you with nothing more to see or do. There is
an outside balcony which overlooks the runways where you can watch
flights come in and go out, and get a good view of who is coming on or
off the planes. The restaurant upstairs is expensive, but it is an
airport. The vending machines are okay for foods recognised everywhere,
as well as Dutch food. Although it is a small airport, baggage seems to
take an awful long time. And there are only two X-ray machines/metal
detectors to my knowledge. A small duty free, and another expensive
smaller cafe (that sells British newspapers at a hefty price) bang smack
next to the gates, so no running when called.

Used the RTM for first time on JAN-12-06 when diverting a private flight
(general aviation) from PRG to AMS due to bad visibility. Could finally
land by the 100 feet clouds. The airport was nearly empty, one small
plane departed only. Used the general aviation / VIP lounge - clean,
warm and small, all you need by hand. The friendly ground staff and
policemen arranged our procedure within minutes and called us a cab for
the city (railway station - 10 mins, 17 Euro), which arrived swiftly.
Did not use common luggage facilities etc. so I may not judge on that,
but seems to be very relaxed airport in positive sense.

It was the first time I flew from the airport. It is a relatively small (7 gates)
airport, but equipped with all the essentials. I didn't have encounter any significant queues,
neither inbound nor outbound. Check in was efficient, security efficient and thorough, immigration speedy. The airside self-
service restaurant was clean, affordable and had a nice assortment. I am certainly considering Rotterdam
for future flights.

Known by locals as "Zestienhoven".
I know this small airport better than any other airport since I live nearby. I’ve welcomed and sent
off many friends there throughout the years and also used this pleasant airport for my own business
and leisure trips. The airport is cosy and orderly and the lounge for frequent flyers is simple but
complete with fresh coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks, cakes, liquors and snacks. The serve-yourself
formula is a great hit and trust me: we did take good care of ourselves!
The flat panels in the departure hall display the travel information satisfactorily and the check-in
counters make a good impression. Everything is fast and easy.
So, what can be improved? I can only think of one thing and that is that the staff could enhance the
cosy atmosphere by a adopting a bit more friendly attitude. Don’t try to compete with your
colleagues from bigger airports, but use your charm to attract passengers again!

RTM is just nice. I was there last year around June travelling from RTM to LHR with KLM. The service
was absolutely alright. As well the airport lounge. My friend and I had a good laugh about the small
but inviting lounge. The lounge was totally for only both us. It was my first experience using RTM.

I think Rotterdam airport is good because it is small. You can check in a few minutes
before your plane departes. The parking is cheap. If you are just arrived. You are outside the
airport in 10 minutes.

I was in Rotterdam Airport at the weekend. I think the airport is the biggest ripp off of an
airport. A bottle of coke is $2.40 in the vending machines. The duty free shop the prices are nearly
double the price of the price for the same goods in the shops. Also the
restaraunts and bar is
probably the most expensive I have ever experience in any airport. I was flying basiqair to Dublin.
Every flight departing the airport that day seemed to be delayed by traffic restrictions. We were
told that our flight was delayed due to restrictions entering the UK. But there was two other flights
one going to Palma and one to Oslo they were both delayed because of ATC. What I have seen it was
not ATC it was the ground handlers they only had enough staff to handle one flight at any one time.
Rotterdam is a joke. Noting to do in this airport went flights are delayed. Also the baggage hall was
a joke on arrival into rotterdam they only seemed to have one trailer to bring the luggage from the
aircraft. I will use this airport again because of Basiqair but I wont buy anything in this airport.
