Pleasantly surprised by the modern well-maintained facilities at Praha. Very clean bathrooms. Flew in from Atlanta on Delta and had no trouble clearing customs in a matter of minutes. Took the Cedaz shuttle bus into city center. Stayed the night before our early AM Czech Air flight to Budapest at the adjacent Marriott Courtyard hotel, which proved to be quite pleasant as well. Checked in the evening before with Czech Air so we were able to check our bags in a much shorter line in the AM. The airport staff were professional but not friendly.

I m very impressed how well PRG Airport has developed since my last visit in March 1989. This airport is far the best in Eastern Europe and many airports in Western Europe have difficulties to match the quality of PRG airport.

Well maintained, clean and efficient BUT the most expensive I have ever visited in terms of cafes etc. We paid the equivalent of £28.00 for 5 coffees!

Was very impressed with this airport flew from Terminal 1 and found the staff at check-in very capable and fairly rattled through the queue very professionally. Had a walk round this terminal and no 2 as there was time and like one was impressed by the shops facilities toilets cafes food shops etc. The 119 bus to get to the airport was included in the local tram/U train ticket and the Line A underground to the terminus prior was as well

Ticket counters are in a very spacious area, and a huge board identifies all flights. There were a decent number of shops inside the terminal, although they did not open until 0600. Also, another bonus was the police that I saw a few times, which was very reassuring. It was the only airport in Europe where I saw security more than one time.

Prague is a good airport for the number of flights/passenger numbers. It is easily laid out both airside and landside with a reasonable choice of food/drink/shopping outlets. Unless you are completely laden with luggage the bus to Devicka Metro station is by far the cheapest public transport option. It drops you outside the Metro station and you can use the same ticket for both bus and metro - in fact valid for all public transport for 70min period - purchased inside the terminal building. Don't forget to validate your ticket on the bus using the yellow clicker machines. Trip to the other side of Prague took less than an hour both ways. Other thing to note is that only Czech Airlines seem to operate a continuous check in. Certainly EZY and BA often only open 2 hours before the flight departs so don't get there 3 hours early.

In the last 3 years I was using PRG about once a month. So far it was a good airport. But I start to change my mind. Only one immigration officer to leave Schengen for non-Schengen area in the morning, so had to queue over 40 minutes and was lucky not to miss my connecting flight, although there where 60 minutes between the flights. Then my baggage did not made the connection. On the other day I was concluding angered that the X-Ray security staff were sticking several paste-on labels all over the front of my suitcase. I esteem security, but this was not only an annoyance but also damage of property. The used clue for these PRG paste-on labels is stickier than all the others I have got so far around the World. They also hold well but can be taken away without any major traces. PRG uses a glue you need solvent to remove it more or less. This has nothing to do with security, not at all. If it would, about 99% of all other airports would be insecure! If you want to get back to old excellence, throw away these stickers and look for another manufacturer. And boost presence of immigration officers.

I flew from Terminal 1, to London. Only 5 minutes were spent at bag drop/check-in, there were only three passengers in front of me at passport control. This airport is one of those airports where there are no facilities after security. I prefer to get through security as early as possible, and use departure lounge facilities while waiting for the gate open - I personally feel this is better, but considering how pleasant the experience was otherwise, this is a minor complaint.

Unlike some airports the staff at the security checks and the immigration officers are friendly and well mannered. Upon arrival, passengers holding a non-EU-passport are not allowed to use the EU- immigrations booth. The overall impression is good, the new Terminal is clean and nice, although I miss a restaurant with reasonable prices. I flew with Lufthansa with CSA-handling, my bags arrived 19 minutes after on-block time, while I arrived in Y-Class.

Departure at 6.30 from T2. For one day trip, car parked in the C parking (option for "normal" and "security watched" zone, then 5 mins walk to the terminal. Pre-printed boarding pass allowed to proceed directly to immigration, through in a breeze as the usual peak did not start yet. Beware that the security check is just after the immigration (so no at the gates like in T1). At this time (5.45 am) there are no shops airside open in the T2 except of pier C (newsstand, bar), only vending machine for drinks and sweets/snacks (accepts CZK and Euro coins, change in CZK only). Boarding called on time. Arrival on 11 pm from AMS again without stress and without checked baggage, out in 10 mins by fast walk. Parking exit signage a bit chaotic and strange procedure (you have to proceed your parking card three times when leaving the "secure zone" or two times from others), but 20 mins after landing I was driving my car out. Easy place to get in/out.

An excellent airport. I fly in and out of PRG 2 times per week for the past 2 years. Very good layout and use of space. It is clean - manages to keep a very new feeling to it (both terminals). Not too many shops. Its positioning in Prague is an excellent central Europe location for this purpose. Crystal Lounge (CSA and Skyteam members) - is an excellent lounge.

A nice clean spacious airport. Customs and immigration went fast though, but immigration staff and check in staff could be more friendlier! Other downside is that there is no ATM machines at all after you pass the passport control.

6 November 2007   Customer Rating : 4 Star Rating

Nice clean airport, but perhaps oversized as the distance from and to the gates is quite impressive. I arrived in Terminal 1 Non-Schengen: Immigration check for EU nationals was very fast, but the non-EU queue was long. I departed from Terminal 2 Schengen. Once again immigration and security checks were fast, but it was Sunday morning. Transfer into the city is quick and painless, using bus no. 119. Buy your bus ticket in advance, as buying it by the driver will cost 5 CZK more. In Terminal 1 you can buy the ticket at the Transportation Desk in the Arrivals Hall OR at the ticket machines located at the bus stop. In Terminal 2 there are no ticket machines though.

Nice airport overall. I like the way security is based at each individual gate rather than the usual free for all at most other airports I have used. Made the experience quick and easy. Staff friendly. Passport control slow.

Flew once more on one of the few long haul flights to Prague (Seoul Incheon non stop to Prague by Korean). The landing was to Terminal 1 (Non Schengen). taxing to the gate was quick and the plane de-boarded fast. The entire passengers of a fully booked A330-300 rushed to the passport control. The passport control tried to be quick unfortunately only 4 out of the 12 passport gates were open. They seem to be understaffed lately. The chaos was due to the fact that all NON-EU passengers stubbornly stood in the line for the EU passengers only even if they saw that the police/immigration could not assist them and sent them to the other passport controls as they have a different PC system. The signs were clear. I think it would be better if the airport had a couple of people around who would direct the passengers in rush hours to avoid the hassle. Baggage service fast and respected "priority" tags. Prague airport has been great to fly to and through. Modern and spacious airport. At departures they now have priority passport control for C and F class passengers however none at arrival as I am used to elsewhere in the world in some airports. The offer in the airport when it comes to services, lounge, now a transit hotel in the transit area as well as an efficient courtyard hotel by Marriott in front of the terminal. The food is OK and there is a lot to choose from even fast food now. 70% of flights now can be checked in by the internet however not all airlines (not even CSA Czech airlines) has self check in booths but they are to come soon this year. Better to fly through PRG rather than the hasttles of a larger airport. Security is tough but fast. Terminal 2 has much more space but we will see how it work officially as a Schengen Terminal since the Czechs are to enter the Schengen Jan 1st 2008

Once again an arrival to the new T2 on March 22 evening - most of the facilities in airside area closed (10 pm). Swift immigration, rather fast baggage delivery (15 mins after landing). Still one half of this terminal remains empty so you may play a soccer there :) Compared to my previous comments ( 11 July 2006), there is no change in the confusing bus stop arrangement in the front of the T2 for a city. Also, arriving very late evening, there are no vending machines for bus tickets and news agents are closed - so you have to 1) buy a ticket at the driver - no big banknotes accepted or 2) go to the T1 arrival building on the left hand side - takes 5 mins walk - and change your banknotes for coins or buy the ticket there (news shops are usualy open longer). If negative, take the bus stop from the T1 area and use option 1).

Nice airport. Lots of travelators so it saves you walking. Very well sign posted and luggage was handled quickly. Once outside airport loads of transport options and no queues. Overall very impressed with this airport.

26 January 2007

Prague airport is wonderful. It took a while for me and my fiancee to get our bags, but certainly in the top 3 of all the airports I have visited. Spacious and cosy, well mannered staff and prices make this airport one of central europes' wonders.

26 January 2007

I had the chance to use the new accommodation in the transit area for connecting passengers. The Transit II hotel is in the transit are, so people who need EU visa will have no trouble having a good sleep for long layovers since the airport doesn't really offer comfortable seating (sleeper seats). Unfortunately the hotel is small, withonly 12 rooms and 20 or so beds. Rooms are nice with aircon and a shower - you are charged short term or normal use of the room (upon hrs or by day). I found satellite TV, WWW with a channel regarding departures and arrivals, and a great system in the room that allows maximum darkness in the room. A new shower service in the airport as well newly opened.

17 December 2006

Had the misfortune to transit here last week on the way to Odessa from Heathrow. Only one transit check in desk, 4 computers but only two staff for a queue of 50. Then to the boarding gate where to my surprise you have to pass through more security scans. No organzied queue , everyone bottle necking into one gate. There were 4 scanners but only two in use and staff just milling about. The staff that were actually working were enjoying every minute of making the process as slow as possible then the cheeky woman had the nerve to tell me to hurry up when I was emptying my pockets! At least 14 people missed their connecting flights. Staff rude, miserable and petty. If your'e going to Prague you have no choice but to come here but if you are transiting, find another route and avoid this hellhole.

Good, well maintained airport here. Facilities are very good, and the airport is clean. Checking in to come back home and boarding the aircraft is very smooth and done efficiently by the staff. Cant complain, been to some bad airports but this isn't one of those.

5 October 2006

Excellent, clean, and modern airport. There is an international food court in the terminal (before you go through passport control) as well as wireless internet (for a fee). After you get through passport control, there isn't really much else, except a couple of bars and pubs, which is suffice for me anyway! Spend your unused Czech crowns on beer and Becherovka while waiting for your flight! If you want to get to the city centre, you can take the bus/metro (if you know the routes), or you can take AAA Taxi, which is a reputable company, and will charge you around 500-600 Kc. With the exception of traffic, it shouldn't cost any more than that. If you stay at the Corinthia Towers Hotel, and you use their taxis to go to the airport, they'll charge around 800 -1000 Kc. A little bit expensive, but very nice Mercedes cabs. Of course, if you have a friend to pick you up there, even better!

11 July 2006

Using the new T2 (Schengen flights) for first time, I got easily oriented. Even the public transport busses are stopping in front of T1 and T2 separate, with Czech and English announcements. Cheap foil baggage packing at the entrance (3 Euro) and plenty of check in desks. Airy terminal, with some fast food restaurants (main course at 4-6 Eur), theme bars and shops upstairs, some more to be open. If you wish better (and more expensive) restaurant, you should use the one in T1 – called Restaurant Praha. The T2 provides also better view terrace in public area (T1 only in transit). Only a small part of this new terminal has been open yet. Common security check for the transit area (similar to the Stansted etc) with lots of screening gates and well staffed for the midweek yet holiday traffic. Clean facilities and seating at gates available. On arrival Jul 09 late afternoon, had to wait for baggage offload for some 30 mins. The airport fees vary and may double depending on the company and season, however still below MUC, VIE. If arriving and using public transport busses to the city (lines 119/100/179), be aware of the proper stop – there are three of them at the same platform before terminal. The stops are signed and wheck checking the timetables on, you would see the bus stops en route. So use the outer right one, as the buses terminate otherwise round the corner (however the driver would most probably tell you that). Some clever heads at the Prague Airport Company, would you please change this confusing schedule for foreigners?? Finally, this airport desperately needs any kind of train/subway city connection. All in all it is clean and easy place to use and navigate.

10 June 2006

Very efficient. The new EU terminal is great, surprisingly huge and comfortable. The other two for long-hauls are also modern and easy to get around with. Its easy to transfer to another flight. Lot of options to eat and new duty free is also getting better. Overall 4.5 out of 5.

2 April 2006

What a great looking and efficient airport! I love going to PRG and connect via them to EU flights. Their new terminal is great, very user- friendly, very pretty and great place to spot some planes for the fans. Great variety of airlines fly there, even KE does now with their big 747 and China Airlines Cargo. Airport food is a bit expensive for what it is, but otherwise new CSA Czech Airlines lounge is great. Connecting is easy due to the Schengen terminal, which allows you not to go through Passport checks. Very impressed with Czech Airlines as well.

26 February 2006

Had a chance to use the new Termianl in Prague (Terminal North 2) which has been built to serve Schengen EU states. The terminal is simply great and adds a big plus to Prague being a reaaly nice place to fly from/to and use it for connections. Since all is brand new then all is spotless. The entire terminal is bright and spacious. Lots of shops and many more to open. The food court in the departure hall is great and prices seemed all ok for my taste. The T2 is linked conveniently to T1 by a connection building so you dont need any travel outside the terminal. the same from inside but its being divided by passport control since T1 is for NON EU flights and T2 is for EU /Schengen) flights. A new shopping centre is being built and in house Airport by Marriott.

27 January 2006

Second time I've been through this airport, overall it gets the thumbs up the catering and duty free facilities on airside are decent enough however the prices in the cafe before security were shocking, 375 korona about £9.40 for two bottles of water, a diet coke and an orange juice. I can understand there being a premium but compared to downtown prices its a disgrace. The taxi from the airport to the city was a fixed price of 650 krona which is a bargain compared to what taxis were charging for local trips within the city centre. (We were charged 350 krona for a two mile journey)

Prague Airport review by Dave Jaros

27 January 2006

There is a new city bus connection from the T1 called AIRPORT EXPRESS, heading for the train/subway station "Nadrazi Holesovice", departing every 30 (?) mins and costs EUR 1,5 incl. luggage. Another option is the city bus Nr. 119 for subway station "Dejvicka" every 10 mins for EUR 0,6 (tickets at airport vending m or news stands or driver + surch.) or city bus Nr. 100 for subway st. "Zlicin" running every 15 mins and same fare like the 119.

13 September 2005

Was amazed at how modern and up to date this airport is. Only down side was the length of time it took for the baggage carousel to deliver our luggage. Maybe that was just a one off on that particular day. Cannot fault the airport for cleanliness, range of shops, bars and cafes. The restaurant up stairs just by the viewing area is pleasant enough and quite large, but on a previous visit, found the fare to be very limited. Cant comment now as didnt use it on the last visit back in July.

9 September 2005

Excellent little airport with few hassles; I'm usually through passport control, in possession of my luggage and on bus 119 to the metro within 20 mins. Changing money here on arrival is not a good idea, much better rates (up to 20% more) in the centre (as long as you shop around; Camfex at Vladislavova 16 near Tesco is the best, see www.camfexgroup.com for rates). Better still, simply use the ATMs in the arrivals hall to get Czech crowns. The public transport booth in the arrivals hall sells tickets; 20Kc (about €0.60) will get a 60 minute ticket all the way to the centre (take bus 119 outside to Dejvicka, the last stop, and change to the metro). This is nearly as fast as taking a taxi, as the metro shoots underneath the river quicker than taxis can wrestle themselves through the suburbs. The CEDAZ minibuses will take you to the city centre for just 90Kc, just wait for it to fill up and it will leave. The official silver 'Visa' taxis parked outside are a different story - they have a very bad driving record and charge 650Kc (€20), but you may get ripped off as they often try for more. Perhaps better call one of the local companies as you get off the plane and they should be outside at the indicated exit by the time you're outside; they'll charge about 400Kc (€13) to the centre; ask for a receipt.

2 August 2005

Prague airport is nice, but recently the passport control has become a problem. I travel to Prague several times a month and it seems, that whoever designs the worksheets for the passport officers does not look on the flight schedules. At times, many lanes are open and no one is there, but usually over the weekend (especially now in summer) just a few lanes are staffed and hundreds of people waiting often through the entire terminal. Also, EU lanes are always understaffed. If this is solved, Prague will be back in my list as one of the best airports in Europe.

8 July 2005

Used telephone check-in (hand baggage). Check-in hall nearly full due to starting holidays and morning peak hours. The new EU terminal is to be opened in August already (partly) to relieve this one. But only two passport control counters open so that there were some 50 pax in each line, took some 10-15 minutes to process. Only few shops and bars were open in transit at that morning hour, however most of the duty frees do open at 7 am. Security check for each two gates is more effective than previous pier zone system. Clean and airy waiting facilities as well as spotless toilets. I like this place if not crowded by travel agency customers yelling around their holiday feelings. Duty-free prices comparable to Munich, Zurich or Vienna already, except of local products. Needs to have rail access from city with check-in terminals in downtown, but lately, Prague municipality decide just to extend the subway service (A line), where the trains are absolutely not designed for that kind of traffic.

8 June 2005

Until now, for 4 years, I've visited Czech Republic 5 times for my biz trip. I don't have much experiences to visit another eastern European airports. I think, Prague Ruzyne airport is quite a good one. Fast passport control, very kind security process and kind security controllers are impressive. However, very very slow (over an hour) luggage claim and unkind check-in & ticket counter have to be improved. One more, some of duty-free shop clerks are not interested in the customers at all.

13 March 2005

I arrived at and departed from Prague airport this week and was impressed by the infrastructure. Quick check-in and passport control. Excellent tax-free shopping opportunities in a spotless environment. Bright and airy terminal and piers (A/B) and a special and welcoming OK Business Class lounge. The airport is a good ambassador for a wonderful city and reflects the modern and innovative spirit of the Czechs.

Prague Airport review by Carolann Harris

20 February 2005

Very busy and crowded but staff soon checked passengers in and queues diminished quickly. Children liked the shops! Easy to find way round, staff friendly and helpful, security tight but so it should be. Pre-booked taxi collection prior to flight - excellent service. Flight delayed 50mins due to knock on effect of previous day when airport was closed due to large amounts of snow. Kept informed of flight time but very close to the times, perhaps a bit more time was needed.

Surprisingly well functioning airport. Nice layout. Lots of space. easy to navigate, and a stress free atmosphere. Security was friendly but serious. The Harmony lounge could have bought some new couches though.

16 December 2004

An absolute delight compared to the drafty old (pre-1992) airport. Repeated trips from 1984 to 2003 show straight line improvement. Hopefully the new expansion will make it even better. The only drawback is the distance to town, but if you are adventuresome, walk across the parking lot to the bus stop and you can take one to the outlying subway stations for under two dollars. (One still needs to negotiate with the taxi drivers BEFORE leaving. Under $25.00 is a good deal.)

Prague Airport review by J Boese

22 September 2004

Prague airport is a nice airport, but has two critical issues. The border control sets capacities between EU and Non-EU passengers about equal, which often results in quite long waiting times in the EU queues, whereas the Non-EU counters are empty. Border officers chase you away, should you dare to approach the Non-EU line with a EU passport. The second issue is luggage retrieval which is quite long. In rush hour, I have waited more than an hour for my bags, during other times it is always at least 30 minutes.

Prague Airport review by Jordan Dias

28 July 2004

Excellent airport, good facilities and adequate lounges, just as long as its all open, as they have (the shops) closed quite early on one of my later passages through the airport.

Prague Airport review by Petr Tilser

2 May 2004

Prague/PRG is modern, bright, very nice and clean airport. However with number of passengers soaring in tens of percentage points every year (45% between March 2003 and March 2004), the airport is quickly getting to its capacity limits, mainly during peak times. New terminal "Europa" for Schengen flights should be open by 12/2005, which is at least a year too late in my opinion. Another sad thing is, that as Mr Devor predicted, with Czech Republic joining EU the excellent duty-free prices on almost anything are thing of the past. On the other hand, **** Ramada Airport Hotel has been opened in September 2003 and another one is being built. Despite all negatives resulting from Prague airport currently undergoing massive expansion I can strongly recommend PRG as both destination and especially as transfer airport, since CSA usually offers great deals on flights originating and terminating outside of the Czech Republic.

Prague Airport review by M Devor

12 November  2003

Beautiful airport. I was shocked as to the difference between it and what I had heard about the old airport. Clean, efficient, easy to use, and very friendly staff. CSA ground personnel are wonderful. There are 2 great lounges and I had access to both of them (via Priority Pass), with both having nice views of the planes and field vs. stuffy rooms with no windows. They need an airport hotel, not that I want to stay out there, but if you need to. I would much prefer to stay in beautiful Prague. English signage is great (after Paris was a very welcome sight) and Duty Free choices are excellent as well. I am concerned that the EU will screw the place up if they join Schengen, which I pray they won't. Easy for connections and I had no lines for passport control or security. One more thing needed is a better motorway to/from Prague.

Prague Airport review by Miroslav Sterusky

25 July  2003

Prague Airport is the one of the best airports I have ever flown to/from. It is famous for its cleanliness, variety of comfortable bars and restaurants and interesting shops. Navigation signs are perfectly placed. The departure hall is actually a brand new building, since the airport was rebuilt a few years ago and its capacity increased up 6,5 mil. pas. a year. And finally, the airport staff seems to be quite nice too.
