Horrible airport; only 20+ years old, but already old and worn (and not clean). Trolleys not allowed after
customs, so if you travel with kids and bags, tough luck, you will just have to sit in the junk food area or by
the check in counters until your connecting flight. Be prepared to go hungry or eat junk food. If you decide to
circumvent the waiting part, make sure you got USD180 or more, as USD100 may get you a hotel without water, or
with a non-flushing toilet. If you have a late lay over (ie an incoming flight from Jamaica or Barbados, to
continue to Guyana or Suriname), buy food in Jamaica or Barbados, b/c after hours everything is closed, and
Caribbean Airlines does not give food on these flights.

Actually much better than expected. Check-in a breeze, mainly if you did online check-in, security is hard,
immigration is polite but also asks to see all your papers etc. It is a clean airport, lots of shopping and duty
free shops - the prices are high. I used both domestic and international departures and both are OK, but will
soon need an update.

If you transit there: you must always go through immigration and customs, so plan plenty of
time (some queues, but usually smooth and no much walking). When you go out of the customs,
turn left to the rental car offices, pass the junk food court, get out where taxis are
waiting: there is a wonderful street food stand serving delicious Indian pancakes called
doubles, with chick pea curry, a bit messy to eat but very cheap (USD accepted, 75 cents),
delicious and clean. Then, as you pass the border control and goes upstairs, head to the
Starbucks looking "Ritual Coffee" in front, BEFORE passing through one of the 2 security
gates. There you have superb seating, power plugs and free internet. Coffee can be good or
bad, food is decent, it is not expensive. Finally, if you take a small local plane you must
walk, and as it can rain, always take an umbrella with you. As it is usually not crowded, you
can say that it is one of the best airport experience in the world.

Clean, modern and very efficient. Allow sufficient time to get all your duty free shopping
done as the options are immense and sometimes best to price compare as not all shops sell at
the same price. Get any food pre security as there are more options pre security. Remember
that not all alcohol is allowed out of the country ie Punchoen Rum 80% proof as it exceeds the
FDA regulations for all other countries.
