Canadian passport used on entry and despite having valid visa I was still required to show a letter of
invitation from someone residing in the Congo. Next you have your Yellow Fever certificate inspected.
Luggage arrived in good time but all bags were manually searched by officials before exiting arrivals. Arrival
hall was very crowded with 2 aircraft's having arrived within 20 minutes of each another. No functioning air-
conditioning. On return, thereafter came another security check, passport control, another security check at X-
ray screening line and only then access to departure lounge. To enter boarding area from departure lounge
area, you again have a passport check as well as another table where you have your carry-on opened and
inspected. If you happen to need a bathroom visit after having entered the boarding gate area, you must
proceed back to departure lounge.

The first thing that struck me was that there was AC units along the walls, but none of them was turned on. It was
quite hot, but that didn't seem to disturb the airport staff. Got a bit surprised when the staff started to
manually carry the luggage inside. The luggage band did not work. Had expected it to be more of a fuzz to get inn.
Remember that there are not many english speaking staff at the airport. When going home used about 2 hours to get
through safety. Had to show passport 10 times before being able to enter plane. As the safety check was not that
thorough, Air France had their own safety check when entering airplane. (The Congolese safety check was rubbish)
It seems the airport only employs security guards in uniforms and no maintenance personnel - half the lightbulbs
was working. Also toilets (some without sink and toilet paper) was rubbish.

The airport is small and modern. It has both local and international flights (Air France).
Arrivals are no problem and there is not far to walk from the aircraft to the airport exit.
There did not seem to be to many people bothering passengers. Departures is also straight
forward, with modern check-in desks. There are not many shops in the departure area and only
one basic cafe. There is adequate seating and the air-conditioning works well. Overall a
very good experience compared with other African airports.
