I've been coming to, and departing from this airport for many years now. Overall, I'm very happy with the efficiency of this airport, especially in low-season. Last time, I retrieved my luggage within 20 minutes of disembarking the aircraft. Those 20 minutes were partly spent by travel to the luggage reclaim (about 10-15 minutes in total) and a bit of waiting time. My departure was okay. The only thing I missed, was a dedicated baggage drop-off counter for people who checked in online. Security is tight without becoming ridiculous and the air-side is diverse, despite its size. There is a big duty free shop for alcohol, smokes and perfumes. Other smaller shops, scattered over the departure area, cater to the needs of people looking for books/magazines, jewellery, clothes, and more. There are also two cafe/bistros, and a Hard Rock Cafe with shop. Prices are what you expect of an airport (more expensive than outside) but not ridiculous. Overall, it's a great airport for arrival and departure!

Small and friendly airport. Check in easy enough even for large B777 aircraft, note that no priority queues are provided for EK flight. Basic facilities airside with ongoing work to improve facilities, next time I will stay landside and pass through security at a later time. Note that international flights have to pass through a second security check which takes time and meant I only got to the boarding gate during final call. Busses to the aircraft of good quality and short ride doesn't bother anyone.

How an airport should be, clean and efficient with pleasant staff. On arrival, no queue for immigration and a short wait for luggage. On departure, no queues for check-in, security or passport checks. It was not particularly busy when we left but there appeared to be plenty of seating and also a fair variety of shops and food outlets. Taking the bus to and from Valletta was very easy and cheap (€1.30!), other parts of the island are also served. All in all one of the best airport experiences I have had in years, well done Malta.

MAN-MLA return with Easyjet. First time in Malta, so not sure what to expect. On arrival: bags on the belt and out of the terminal within 15 minutes of landing, no queue at immigration. On return: no queue for bag drop, cleared security within 5 minutes, with no "shoes off!" nonsense. Plenty of shops and cafes airside and in the Schengen area, but few facilities in the small non-Schengen area - so non-Schengen passengers are better-off if they don't head for the gates too soon. Apart from the toilets (which aren't too bad, but could be better), the whole terminal is clean and tidy. All staff are friendly and polite; in fact, I'd say this is the friendliest airport I've ever used. An absolute joy to use compared to LHR, MAN etc., and a credit to a wonderful country.

Perfectly nice little airport and easy to navigate. Getting through check in and security was quick and efficient with plenty of staff to direct people. General airport seating is metal and not at all comfortable but we made coffees last an hour and a half and sat in the cafe - soft and comfortable chairs there. Prices in the shops are the usual rip-off (1.75 euros for a small bottle of water) but it's the same in any airport. I would happily use Malta airport again. A definite improvement on Pisa!

Small airport, you may think it's a bus terminal. All facilities available, and staff surprisingly efficient for departures. Normally clear security in less than 10 minutes. Arrivals is a nightmare. Bags constantly taking half an hour (even Priority luggage), arrivals greeting area always full of people grunting and shouting (they are not fighting, they are just loud). You may also be offered a taxi, which is quite a terrifying experience in Malta - if you are here on business you are better off renting a car unless you like roller coasters.

Overall experience was very good. Transportation to the airport was not that good. Took too long to get there. It is very close to everything in Malta and I see no reason why it should take this long to get to the airport. There should be an express service. Shopping experience was very good. Big Tax free shop with very good prices! Food offer was also good. Everything was close and staff were very helpful in general. The bus transfer from the gate was done a bit to early but overall ok. An airport that I would visit again with pleasure next time I come.

All in all has to be one of the consistently best airport experiences anywhere. I have used it 2-6 times a month over the last 24 months and very rarely had a problem. Arrivals and departures areas excellent, a good range of shops, ample check-in if flying Air Malta and very clean overall. Bus trip to plane can sometimes be a bit of a joke, if plane parked only 100 yards or so away, but overall quite a nice experience not having to use an air bridge. Facilities for disabled travellers in boarding tend to be both prompt and good. Security efficient, but not as thorough as UK airports. Staff always most courteous in all areas.

10 minutes from stepping off the plane, immigration, luggage collection and in the taxi. For a small airport, they could teach some of the bigger boys a lesson in efficiency.

For a small airport, it is very efficient. Apart from what seemed like an unnecessary delay waiting for a bus to take up 50yards to the terminal on arrival, I was through the airport in less than 15 minutes. Departure was equally efficient, even at 6.30 am they had plenty of check in desks open and I was checked in and through security within 10 minutes. There is some work going on in the departures lounge which might make it a bit crowded at peak times, but OK early morning. Reasonable catering facilities, but like most airports overpriced and not the best quality. New non-schengen area has fewer facilities, so would recommend staying in the main lounge until the flight is called - passport checks to the non-schengen area are minimal and quick.

For a small airport that gets quite busy, especially in summer, both the departures and arrivals processes are relatively quick, organised and pain-free. The airport is modern, clean and friendly. Perhaps the information kiosks by the banks in the arrivals lounge could look a little less like market stalls, and the coffee and food on offer could be improved a notch or two.

Malta is a small clean airport and has all the thing that are needed. You have the banks, ATMs and car rental in the arrivals, and in departures you have your chec kins with a few shops.

The two ATM's at Malta International Airport are located as you exit the Arrivals hall. There are also two branches of HSBC and Bank of Valletta which are manned on a 24hour basis. Thre are no ATM's in the check-ibn hall or departure areas.

Although this airport was small, it was clean and had almost everything needed. I could not find an ATM machine anywhere so for 3 hours me and my partner had no food/drink. Very cheap in the duty free shops. Was very impressed with security procedures as soon as you checked in.

I have seen the changes over the years at Malta International Airport, and for a country of this size, it really is a , well presented airport with good facilities. It has recently undergone a refurbishment whereby there now exists many choices of eateries, duty free and entertainment. The security is of a high standard.

Malta International airport is relatively small, it has a really nice atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and there is a cafe selling delicious pattiseries. The duty free shops are not many, but the prices are good. You can also book helicopter flights anytime of the day/night. On the negative side, if you arrive there late at night and need to wait for a flight, there is nowhere to go (cafes/ restaurants). Also, the loos are a bit minging, really. Overall, Malta is a spectacular place.
