Arrived LBA, 0107 hrs, Sunday 22/09/2013. Passport control queue could not have been longer I thought we were part of the EU, why do we need it if we are traveling within the EU especially at that time of day. (Did get a smile from the officer that was a bonus). Who then decided to put luggage from 5 inbound flights onto the same carousel, 2 of them were 757's with 200 passengers on each. When I asked 3 serviceair reps that were stood there doing nothing, they laughed and said the next 3 flights will be in trouble. This attitude is neither productive or a good advert for our area.

It was raining on our arrival and non airport taxis cannot approach the airport. The security operation is inconsistent and chaotic. A long walk through what is now a shopping mall led to the gates where there are few seats and which in many cases are dirty and split. The public conveniences smell and are the same now as they were years ago. Queuing was chaotic. An adjacent gate was a Ryanair staff member who appeared to measure each piece of hand luggage and was then given loading priority. The result was that we were held in the new covered area for half an hour and took off 45 minutes late. Of the 10 airports I have used in the last year Leeds Bradford is by a mile the worst and the most obvious in treating people like cattle whose only relevance to the airport is as shoppers.

It's about time the drop off area was made better, you should be allowed at least 10 minuets without having to pay £2 to drop people off - it's just another rip off. Leeds airport is getting worse.

We normally fly from Newcastle, but when we found flights cheaper from Leeds thought it was worth a try. Big mistake. Unless your flights are £100 per person cheaper from Leeds, and include free parking, don't fall into the trap. Its dirty, dangerously overcrowded, expensive, smelly and miserable. Worst airport we have ever used.

My first time travelling from Leeds Bradford and my last, LBA is behind the time, far too expensive for what they have to offer. The fact they have no smoking when in departures is not good, even Manchester has a smoking area. Alcoholic beverages over priced, seating uncomfortable and not enough of it. Overall this airport has got to be updated and soon.

LBA has no saving graces, it fails miserably on all fronts. The rip-off charges, inadequate seating, clueless management, huge queues especially in arrivals, long waits for luggage, dirty toilets, rubbish strewn bag reclaim areas, disinterested and de-motivated staff etc. There is really a strong case for some kind of government intervention. Yorkshire does not deserve such a disgraceful airport. The increase in passenger numbers is down to JET2 and the convenience of flying from a local airport.

I rarely do reviews but we used this airport 8-15th July - extremely disappointed as there is a maze of tiny, hot corridors that after checking in just lead to cafe/bars with very little seating area to just look at planes on the runway or just to relax to start your holiday or trip. On arrival we had the same - walk up stairs, down stairs, maze of corridors (not good for the disabled/elderly) then through passport control, then sharing three flights on a very small carousel. Very poor. We will continue to use Robin Hood airport despite living in Leeds.

The gents' toilet was a disgrace compared to the immaculate one at Dubrovnik airport and most others around the world's airports. It was smelly and grubby. Goodness knows what impression this would give to foreign visitors.

This is the worst airport ever used, it is cramped with very little seating. You basically walk through a duty free tunnel to arrive at the gates with little else there. On arriving back you are walked through walkway tunnels into arrivals to find yourself into a very small area to queue for immigration, and they try to fit four flights in all at the same time. International airport I don't think so.

We didn't use this airport last year but had done for the previous 7 years. It had always been our airport of choice, near to home, efficient service from Jet2, decent long stay parking arrangements, plenty of seating and no problem getting an early morning drink and bite to eat. How things have changed! This year was fine until we got through security early in the morning only to be met by chaos. We eventually found a quietish place for a cup of coffee (Camden Food Co) and having queued for 15 mins+ we found the only employee apologising to every customer for the wait they had endured. Next was a hunt for a newspaper. We seemed to find 2 WH Smith's but only one had papers. We thought we'd return later so set off to find somewhere to sit. Eventually found 2 seats outside some toilets! The ladies were ok but my husband found that there were 2 cubicles in the mens and one of those didn't have a seat. Eventually headed back for a newspaper only to find a queue the length of the shop so gave the idea up as a bad job. The whole experience was totally unsatisfactory and we will certainly look further afield when planning our next trip. It seems woefully obvious that the airport cannot cope with the increasing number of flights/travellers which are now using it.

The only good points for this Airport are the ease of getting to it in the Yorkshire Area! The meet and greet system excellent. Beyond that ! Over crowded! Shambolic, Poor offering in the dining areas! Not enough seating areas. This Airport feels as if it is bursting at the seams! They need to go to Liverpool or Manchester Terminal 1 to see how it should be done! Enough said I think this is the third time in the last three years and it has not improved. To say that going on holiday should be an exciting time this leaves you stressed to the hilt! I do feel sorry for the staff.

Used this airport on Saturday 15 June. Arrived at approx 14.00 for a flight at 16.25. Good points were the Meet and Greet car parking, check-in and security was quicker than expected. Border Control returning to the UK wasn't hostile. Bad points were that the airport was at bursting point; people sat on the floor, stood in the bars / cafes, queues in the shops. This needs sorting out as I imagine come the school holidays this will become dehumanising.

They call this an international airport, I've travelled through a few, but nothing as bad as this, I arrived from Portugal recently and had to walk through dirty outside passages and not so clean indoor ones, no working escalators, grubby toilets with wet floors, I witnessed two assistants begrudgingly helping a lady in a wheelchair, and they made it obvious that they thought it wasn't there job. I think it's time this airport improved its cleaning polices and provided some customer service training for the staff.

Arriving by car or bus the impression is that of a very tiny airport. I have used LBA for departure twice recently with the new layout. At first the impression was a bit claustrophobic. I appreciated the new facilities. The idea of separate lounges (one for business one for leisure) is smart. I got a lot of work done on a 5 hrs delay and the £17 for 3 hours fare was well paid for. The small airport after the revamp has managed to squeeze in a lot of shops and cafes, but still managed to preserve a small gathering area for each gate. The airport is obviously always busy and I can't imagine how it can be during peak holiday times. After security (pretty friendly and fast indeed) the hall is stretched to an almost single passageway. Getting a seat in the various cafes and fast-food places is a lottery. Even the spacious food court downstairs is always busy and pretty noisy. The impression is that the airport is always struggling to cope with oversized traffic but as now it's like it is managing to do so well enough.

Outbound on our flight to Barcelona, paid for the Executive lounge. Only way to secure a seat in the new layout of departures. Any new space created has been allocated to shops or bars, people fighting over the few seats in the gate areas. Not impressed by the new lounge, not relaxing and not value for money. Escaping the airport onto a brand new Monarch aircraft was a relief! Returning to Leeds 5 days later was a complete farce! We departed a very busy Barcelona some 20 minutes ahead of both Jet2 and Ryanair, landed at Leeds and parked on a remote stand. Instead of taking us to the terminal by bus, they made us use the dual use walkway. We then got held before the terminal in the freezing cold (not weatherproof tunnel) for 15 minutes as a Jet2 Boeing 757 was boarded on stand 9. In this time, we watched 3 further flights land and park at the terminal and begin to disembark ahead of us. Including the Jet2 and Ryanair we left waiting in Barcelona! By the time we got inside the terminal, over 200 passengers waited in line ahead of us with a recorded message playing "Sorry for the delay, due to large number of inbound flights". After a relaxing 5 days away and a great service from Monarch, this airport was a huge let down in the way it is organised and operated! Good for cheap flights and plenty of choice but this is an airport to be endured and they try get money off you wherever they can. From drop off, to fast track, no seats, executive lounge and even a fast track payment option for passport control!

Flew with Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford to Dubrovnik. Only had carry on luggage so walked straight to security. Met by a very pleasant, personal lady who engaged in banter but was able to remain professional. Waiting area pleasant and comfortable. Boarding slick and efficient. Aircraft out and back, not usual "cattle class", staff excellent, pleasant, attentive. On return to Leeds/Bradford, 20 minutes from touch down to park.

I am a taxi driver and I dropped off a fare at the airport. As I was not familiar with the drop off points I followed another taxi which happened to be a multi-seater. Upon exiting the airport, I was faced with a charge of £6, (as I was in coach lane instead of car lane). What an absolute rip off, literally took 1 min to drop off.

I took two fiends to Leeds/Bradford Airport. On entering the One-way traffic system to I had to avoid a car wrongly driving in the opposite direction. On my existing the short-stay drop-off car park six minutes later I found out why - the Drop-Off Charge is an absolute Rip-off.

Flew out to and returned from Tenerife. The outbound experience was without difficulty with a simple check in with Jet2 and minimal hassle at security. As to be expected, food and drink in the airport far to expensive for a captive market. On return not such a good experience. For comparisons, we arrived in Tenerife South Airport and waited about 2 minutes to get through immigration. Leeds/Bradford took 25 minutes. The immigration staff were surly and seemingly looked as if they did not wish to be there. Why is it that when re-entering ones own country you never feel totally comfortable. That was the impression I had with this airport. Baggage was waiting for us downstairs, but then again, it had probably been going round and round for ever while we were trying to get through immigration. I have said in a previous review that I would only use this airport for convenience and nothing has changed my mind after this experience.

Agree that this has become a rip-off airport. Presumably it appears as such to operators too, as BMI Regional are now pulling out. All the refurbishment money has been spent on shops and the area at the front of the airport is like something in a third-world country. Talk of it being a security problem is rubbish when compared with other airports. The owners/operators of LBA should be ashamed. I wouldn't use it at all if it weren't so convenient location-wise.

Not a drop point, a rip off point. Spent from Thursday to Tuesday collecting friends and relations from this airport, £6 every time. I would recommend East Midlands 15 minutes free for drop off and collections, Manchester free so is this just a case of greed. This is why you get all the cars parked waiting on approach to airport travelodge car park. I am 1 hour from Leeds and 1 hour from East Midlands so next year you will not see me.

I totally agree with the previous comments about the £2 charge for dropping people off. I arrived at the airport this morning to drop off and was confronted by a choice of two lanes, one for cars and one for minibuses and coaches. As I drive a ford transit sized vehicle I could not get under the barrier to the cars only drop off and so had to drop my customers off in the minibus drop off area and was totally shocked to find I had to pay £6 to get out. People were driving up to the barriers and finding that they now needed more coins than expected and were reversing out to get change. I do not agree with charging at any airport to drop people off. £2 is bearable but £6 is a disgrace. Could this airport management change the sign from drop off to rip off.

The airport drop off charges are a total rip-off. The signs direct you to a free stay for 1 hour in the long stay car park but when you get in there the signs are all covered in black plastic. On returning to collect the car in good time the courtesy bus passed our stop as the driver had not asked us where we wanted to get off and he had to take us back, which meant due to the delay we had passed the 1 hour free time and were charged £7.50 to get out plus the £2.50 card fee, all because we were 5 mins late (and the receipt machine was not working). The information boards do not tell you this information. Went back to the terminal to complain but you cannot stop there without paying the short say fee to get out. Visitors beware, you pay dearly for poor directions and information boards.

I was very surprised at 5.55am on Sunday, after being at the airport drop off point for about 4 minutes, to have a demand for £2.00 payment before I could leave the site. I did not take any cash or cards with me (why would I? I was just dropping friends off). I never even parked in a space. The place was so quiet, I did not even switch off my engine for a moment. To exit, I was made to park up, walk into the terminal and explain myself. They offered to invoice me to my home address at a cost of £10, plus the £2 charge! I was not able to leave until nearly 6.20am. And only after being made to worry about how I could get out of the situation. I did not pay of course, and won't be using the airport ever again, which is a shame as I enjoy the Yorkshire Premier Lounge facility very much.

There is a £2.00 fee for delivering or collecting friends and family at the drop off area in front of the airport terminal. The fee can be avoided by dropping off in the long stay car park but then you are faced with a 20min walk - not so good if you are old, infirm or have infants. What should be an excellent regional airport is currently let down by additional fees for goods and services which have traditionally been free or remain free at other airports, £1.00 for 2 plastic security bags is a further example. The owners have stated an aim to improved service to the airport users, but at present the customer experience is that of having your pockets picked at every opportunity, which does not usually encourage repeat business.

Return flight from LHR with BA. Everything about this airport appears to be designed to make things as awkward for pax as possible, or to get them to spend as much money as possible. From the £2.00 drop-off charge, to the poor pedestrian access to the long-stay car parks, it's mostly bad. The airport had few arrivals at the time we landed, yet it took 20 minutes for bags to arrive. On the return leg, it took 25 minutes to check-in just 6 passengers in front of me, then another 20 minutes to clear security. For an airport which only had 5 flights within the hour, this is unacceptable. Airside is crowded and poorly-ventilated, with lots of unpleasant drunken locals staggering around. Although the number of shops/restaurants is much better now, this is at the expense of space. Seating is minimal, unless you are willing to spend money to eat in the overpriced restaurants. I've flown from several similar-sized airports abroad, and it's been a breeze compared to this. LHR T1 is heaven compared to LBA. It's been 4 years since I last used this airport, and I hope it's at least another 4 after this experience.

Have flown twice from LBA over the last 3 months. Really like the new layout. Had no problems with queues at security either time. Not too sure why other people are upset about the airport. The prices are the same at every airport and LBA is no different. I've never had to queue long at security at LBA either before or after the refurbishment's. This is in complete contrast to Manchester where the queues can be lengthy. Shops, cafes and bars are what you would expect from an airport of this size. A short walk from the plane back into the terminal building is no hardship. Overall - an excellent airport. Will most happily fly from here again. The only downside is the £2 minimum fee for dropping/collecting passengers. LBA should really address this issue as it does upset a lot of people.

Formerly small airport with rising traffic numbers. Relatively complicated accessible: no dual carriageway and high frequent bus services to Leeds city centre only (direct service to York would be desirable). Terminal is very unstructured, the oldest part quite dark and dingy, low-cost part very simply build. Distance from check- in (especially Jet2.com) to security check very long - we had to do this walk twice, since our (home printed) boarding passes haven't been accepted by the system. The woman at the boarding pass check desk was unfriendly, however other staff has been very obliging and friendly (especially Jet2.com desk and security personnel). Queuing at security but staff was very quick. Sufficient range of shops and cafes/restaurants in Departure lounge. We nearly missed our flight since the display screen in the departure lounge didn't show our flight but others with the same (or earlier) off-block-time where there was no gate allocated yet. Owing to the rising traffic numbers and its importance for the whole area, this airport urgently needs further improvement on both airside and landside.

This airport still needs to try harder. The new layout still relies heavily on shopping, food and bars but, if you don't want to use these facilities, places to just sit quietly are severely limited. We now try and arrive at the airport as late as possible to avoid the inconvenience in the departure lounge. Sadly we can't cut it too fine as security is still surly and slow! Arriving back into LBA doesn't improve the impression. The escalator up to passport control is still not working after 10 years (no quick fix here then! - shops more important). Elderly people left to struggle with their bags up the stairs and then a long walk to meet the rude and slow passport control staff. After all this, you would at least expect your luggage to be on the carousel (after negotiating more stairs back down!). However, this is rarely the case as with everything else at this airport, at all goes very slow. If you need help with a trolley, well that's another non-refundable £1 and then it's another £2 for someone to pick you up in the car park. There used to be an excellent Greggs in the check-in area which is now an upmarket, trendy and very expensive coffee outlet.

Haven't flown out of LBA for 7 years and its had quite the transformation (which is still ongoing). Having to pay to pick up / drop off is the only issue I have with the airport, and at peak times road access to the airport is terrible, it could benefit from a rail link perhaps. Flew Jet2 to Budapest and back and had a great experience at LBA, check in there was no queues whatsoever, and security was the same. The new departures area is quite a transformation, much different to when I flew out of LBA last around 7 years ago, it looks great, but unfortunately is still ongoing. New restaurants and a couple of bars, as well as a duty free area give it a great feel, bar was rather pricey, but it is an airport. Boarding was smooth despite the old way of walking out to the aircraft, was well signposted (unlike Budapest airport) and everything is fine. The airport is busy for its small size, I think it could benefit from a major terminal expansion, and possibly more boarding bridges, but on the whole, a great experience!

Made the last of my trips for this year at the end of October. What a change we have seen over the last 2 years. We can now seem the benefit of all the mess we have had to put up with in this time. Totally new seating in spacious well lit areas. New retail outlets with very wide corridors, excellent gate signage, new toilets and plenty of flight information boards. You can avoid the £2 charge now by dropping in the free time in long stay. used the new walkway to get to the plane on the apron, what a difference this makes. Not really into the retail side but told good range of shops. Certainly the end results make up for all the pain we have been put through over the last two years, will be a joy to turn up in March again.

What an appalling airport. Everything about it represents the worst of British, from the rip-off fees for being picked up or dropped off at the front of the airport to the blatant way one is funnelled through shops before arriving at the departure lounge. Getting to the plane is like running a gauntlet of rip-off merchants and the security staff are slow, ill tempered and rude. Luckily, anyone in the Northwest can be better served by Manchester or Liverpool airports.

We didn't have to queue and staff were really good. The bars and food courts were nicely set out and we had no problems at all. Much better than Manchester where you have to queue for ages at every point. I cannot understand the ratings for Leeds Bradford. The Airport is absolutely fine - much better than most hubs, or regional airports I've been through; and I travel frequently. The on site parking is very good, facilities in the much improved terminal are pleasant and as for walking in the rain - there is a new walkway in the process of being completed. There is also a lot of fuss about drop off charges - there is a facility on site and you don't have to pay! Charges are no different to most UK airports and as for the immigration queues. I would much rather fly from LBA than have to trek down the hideous M62 to Manchester, or Liverpool and their similar facilities; as for Doncaster the terminal is good but very few flights.

I'm afraid Leeds Bradford airport is a disgrace. Parking is terrible, the drop off costs 2 pounds, you queue for ages to get through customs and immigration. You likely to have to walk through the rain to get on your plane or failing that you walk to a bus. Overhead walkways are almost non existent. When you return, there's only 4 passport control desks so just pray your flight is the only arriving at any one time. There's an escalator to walk up at the shed like entrance to the airport when you land and this escalator has not worked since I've been in Leeds which was in the 1980s. I'm ashamed of what people must think when they come to Yorkshire or England for the first time and this is their experience of it. But it seems the airport is beholden to no-one to improve. I've read comments 99.9% of which are severely critical but the changes made are designed to generate more cash for the airport, not to improve the customer experience.

I cannot think of any positives. You pay to drop someone off even if you're only there for a matter of seconds. The immigration and security checks are hopelessly inadequate and inconsistent. There are almost no seats available except in bars, making you feel you must buy something if you want to sit down. You're kept waiting for a gate to be announced so you can 'relax and shop' confirming what I'm sure we all know, which is that this airport is only concerned with taking your money. When you return, you're likely to be bussed to a small door with an escalator that hasn't worked in 10 years. I've seen elderly people struggle up the stairs with their cabin luggage. There's no train connection and few buses. Last night, when my flight was delayed, instead of the restaurants and bars staying open so we could sit somewhere, they closed and put chairs in the exits to prevent us from sitting down.

This used to be a nice little airport its main advantage over other northern alternatives was that you could be in and out quickly despite it having a narrower range of destinations, and forgiving it the slightly grubby services that were available. However, my last few flights to and from LBA have been much less enjoyable and as an example I'll describe my experience last night. Left waiting ages in the aircraft for, stairs. Queued an age for the immigration desk, queued interminably long for a bizarre taxi system they seem to have (a single company seems to have 'a contract'), partly in the rain. I eventually find my way into the portacabin, to pay an impressive £21 for what to me is a six mile journey. Even here things did not go smoothly as a fast-track system seemed to be going slower than the slow-track one and combined with balshy customer service nearly started a riot. This seems to have come to a head in more recent times as one is charged to drop-off or pick up so even the alternative taxis drop you off outside the main terminus and leave you to walk, as it is seems it is as much a turn-off for them to pay the £2 as it is for a family member to offer to give you a lift. All in all it's making a train journey to Manchester seem highly attractive for future flights.

Personally think it is a fantastic airport, visited the airport 3 times this year, April, June and July, and every time the airport development has been improved. Overall a quick and easy service, would recommend it to anybody using it, much better the Manchester, East Midlands, Liverpool and Doncaster.

New layout is terrible, not clear where cafes are, new Saltaire grill is awful. No table service, forced to order and prepay at bar, horrible machine coffee, burnt toast. This has replaced previous decent buffet type cafe downstairs. All passengers forced to walk through duty free sales to get to gates/cafes etc . Flight board says "relax and shop" when not called for flight. Dreadful.

A shame that LBA only think about ripping customers off, there are too many shops and very little seating area. We travelled on August 19th to Budapest and thankfully we departed on time, I dread to think what it is like to be delayed there. £2 to drop off is a disgrace, also a charge for trolleys I believe, we arrived back on August 23rd to queue 20 minutes at customs due to many planes landing at once (oh there is a fast track lane £3) to get through customs. We travel 7/8 times a year but LBA will be a last resort.

There is little wrong with this airport, small yes, but (compared to many larger places) clean and efficient. Travelled in August and upon return was whisked through just as fast as any German Airport or Hub. On arrival the security staff were professional. The amenities aren't lavish but what would one expect. For me it was a far more pleasant experience than travelling through other (allegedly) 'nicer' airports. Oh, and the loos were very clean and there isn't far to walk.

Leeds Bradford Airport must be in the running for the gold medal for ripping off its customers. Of course there is no free wifi, there is a £2 charge just for driving through the car park to drop people off. If you pay your half hour parking charge for picking someone up it is £5 plus £2 or £2.50 for paying with a credit card. There is no easy way to walk through avoiding all the tat and of course the bottles of water that I saw were £1.80. The transport is a joke. They claim it has got better. I always try to use another airport - it always leaves such a bad taste in the mouth returning to beautiful Yorkshire through such an unpleasant, money grabbing gateway. The cleanliness and facilities are irrelevant if you feel that you are being ripped off at every step.

This airport is one of the new breed of rip-off British establishments now charging an admission fee to drop off or pick up passengers. However, the drop-off point is about 300m from the terminal front door, which, given the location of the airport and the habit of the weather to at times be inclement, means, if it is raining, you receive a wonderful wet start to your travel experience. In the airport itself, although there are reasonable facilities, they are expensive - it can cost almost £10 for a prefabricated snack that would cost £3 in a supermarket. You will also struggle to find a seat if the airport is busy. Car parking, as expected, is a total rip-off.

Having recently experienced the airport I can understand the negative comments. While the airport is adding additional shops etc they forget that the first experience of passengers is the drop off points. Forget the £2 drop off charge with no time limit for free drop offs, you then have the pleasure of getting wet going to the terminal building and a repeat on your return. In reference to the food, if you think that the motorway service areas are expensive and poor quality try the airport. On returning on the inbound flight we arrived at 16.45 and it was the worst that I have ever experienced getting to customs, the excuse given was that 3 aircraft's had arrived all within 20 minutes of one another. This begs the question what are they doing making a big thing of all the extra flights that we hear about when it is clear that they cannot cope with their existing flights. My advice would be forget this airport until they get their act together and put passengers interests first because this is not the case at the present time. Please Doncaster lets have more flights to give Leeds more competition.

I'm amazed at all the negative comments on here about LBIA. I use it quite often and whilst problems did increase a year or two ago the current £11m investment programme is improving matters considerably. There are more seats and the whole place has a lighter feel to it. There is bound to be some disruption while works of this scale take place but I know I would still prefer to pass through LBIA than MAN or LHR any day of the week. As for the drop off charge so many people are moaning about, £2 isn't even classed as small change these days.

Communication is key. People may not like what they are told however at least they are aware of what is going on.

How on earth can Leeds Bradford airport be called international. Can any member of the public imagine flying from there in the present weather, an airport where you are unable to park near then to have to walk in all the rain not under cover or very rarely on a coach to the aeroplane (I speak from experience ) then one is expected to sit wet through on a flight. Why on earth more money is not spent on the customers rather than all these shops and food venues I will never know.

This airport is a disgrace. The main complaints are: If you don't pay the drop off fee then you have to drag your case from the main road. The security queues are slow. The airport is very crowded but a new expansion plan is progress. The other main issues are when you return - you have to wait at busy times for a fleet of old buses to take you to the Terminal where the fun really starts. You join a long queue with no cover, where you slowly trudge up a dirty staircase to wait while two immigration staff check you and if there are two or three flights it just gets worse.

Returned to Leeds Bradford on Thursday afternoon 14/06/12. We were not allowed to disembark from our Jet2 flight from Alicante for 25 minutes after landing (not the Airline's fault). Reason: a flight was boarding and because of airport construction, the two sets of passengers were not allowed to intermix. This is an international airport isn't it and do not passengers embark and arrive at roughly the same time? So, eventually get into the terminal and up several sets of stairs which I noted were giving at least one elderly lady some discomfort. A route march to the very end of the terminal for immigration and finally out into the real world once more. Will only use this airport for convenience and next time will consider Manchester.

Arrived into Leeds - back from Malaga- a fantastic new, well equipped airport in a country struggling in the current economic crisis. Bus broke down on way to airport building. We were all dropped off in the rain and queued to get in through the single door- all got soaked. As usual the escalator was not working - really hard for the elderly on flight. 40 minute queue to go through passport control - quote "due to planes arriving at same time "(as they do every day). Too few immigration officers on duty! No planning - no idea - third world quality.

This used to be a pleasant little airport. However, in recent years it has been taken over by a company determined to squeeze every last penny out of customers. The drop-off area costs £2 simply to enter so many people simply take a chance and drop passengers off on the mini-roundabouts. There is no taxi rank so taxis bringing passengers to the airport cannot get a fare back to the city. The airport taxis are provided by Arrow cabs which are more expensive than local firms (for example £20 to my home instead of the local firm's fare of £10). If you live locally and are flying home, take the number of a local cab firm with you and call them when you leave the plane. The taxi will be waiting for you when you exit the airport. Public transport is poor; there is no train service and the many flights arrive or leave outside the hours of the bus services. The terminal is cramped so it can be difficult, for example, to get through to the lavatories if you are carrying hand luggage. There are shops but the selection is not good and the cafes are crowded so you will not be served quickly. The only advantage of LBA is convenience if you live locally. Manchester is a better airport with a much greater selection of flights.

This is not usually an airport I enjoy using but the staff deserve more than a few words of praise for the way in which they dealt with a much delayed Ryanair flight to Pisa on the 21/4. The flight was delayed by over 3 hours until long after the airport would normally have closed. However, the Executive Lounge staff, the gate staff and even the bar staff did everything in their power to make things tolerable. They had as much reason as us to whinge but they were extremely cheerful and helpful.

The worst airport I have ever used. £2 to stop in a car to drop off or pick up passengers? After checking in be prepared for the long queue for security where you are welcomed by a cheery grunt from staff. Then into the departure lounge where if more than 2 flights have checked in your chances of sitting down are nil. When your flight is called, be prepared for a mad dash to the departure gate but there may be 2 flights using the same gate. On your return, once past passport control you can relax whilst waiting for your luggage to arrive, then fight your way outside to be picked up by someone paying at least another £2 to park. All in all use Manchester, Heathrow, anywhere except LBA.

Used Leeds Bradford Airport Executive lounge as a starting point for a long weekend break in Prague with my wife. To be honest, I felt as though I was entering a building site, as the environment was anything but luxury with all the signs of a project in progress. Yes, work has to be done to improve a facility, but not at the expense of the user. Had I known what I was paying for, I would most certainly have declined. Fine for anyone who wants to fill up on free drink but until the area is sorted with clean carpet and a completed ceiling, I won't be subsidising anyone!

The airport is, generally, okay however the practice of charging motorists £2.00 to drop off or collect passengers is nothing less than bare faced robbery and should never be allowed. This very morning I dropped friends at the airport drop off point, which is within the official car park, and the total time from entering to exiting the car park was 4 minutes. This £2.00 charge has, no doubt, been approved by the airport management committee and shows their total lack of respect or understanding or the general public, their customers. I am disgusted.

This airport is a dump. £2 charges for drop off are a disgrace, security area was improved but most of the money seems to have gone on the queuing area. The staff numbers don't seem to have increased and the focus appears to be on long queuing times to force people to buy fast track. You are then funnelled into a tiny duty free shop! The departure lounge has insufficient seating. Large areas of the lounge are now occupied by overpriced retail outlets and cafes. If you want a seat, you have to pay for the premier lounge which is not very premiere at all. Signage for gates and facilities are not sufficient and the way in which gates are allocated and boarding is arranged makes for complete chaos if more than 2 flights are boarding at the same time. The place is filthy, the seats, the floors, the walls, the washrooms are all dirty. The way the terminal walkways are laid out and due to cross boarding - they always line us up in the arrivals corridor for nearly 15 minutes before we are chucked out into the elements queuing to board my regular Amsterdam flight. Sadly, I only fly from it now when I have to for work. My holidays I take from Manchester as I can not think of a worse way to start your journey. What the private company is doing to Leeds Bradford airport is a great crime to this once pleasant local airport and the people of Yorkshire. Charges everywhere with no money going back in to our airport!

I have used LBA many times. The main impression this airport gives is that passengers are the least important people. Passengers have to walk the length of a football pitch with baggage from the so called drop off carpark (and get charged £2 for the privilege). Much bigger airports have not stopped passengers being dropped off outside the entrance. Add this to the longest waiting queues at passport control and for baggage. Where have all the seats in the check-in area gone? Not everyone wants to go straight through but there are only about half a dozen seats in the whole area. There used to be a taxi rank outside arrivals where there were plenty of taxis, you now have to go across the football pitch and queue up in the Arrow office to book your taxi and then wait for your taxi to arrive - what a farce!

Peak time Friday in late August no queues for Jet2 check-in. Quick through security (esp comparing Liverpool or Man). Other side there were free tables by windows looking out over runway away from bar and restaurant area so quite relaxed waiting. Jet2 gate queuing area is a bit of a shed but you are not there long. Not surprised at charge for dropping off as the front areas are small and have not grown with the airport.

The only positive thing I can really say about LBA is that it is close to where I live. That used to be a great advantage because it meant that I could be dropped off by a relative rather than having to park or get a taxi. My father hadn't expected the charge, and didn't have money with him. It was only due to someone's generosity that he was able to leave the car park. Security and passport control are overly busy, with inconsistent instructions being given to people. When you eventually get to the departure lounge the toilets are dirty, and there is no where to sit. Tables in the upstairs cafe are full of dirty trays and the staff struggle to cope with a queue. So many people were queuing for the shops downstairs that people could not get off the down-escalator causing a pile-up. Getting rid of the shop would make things more pleasant for people, but the cynic in me thinks that would be the last thing to go. When you arrive back and want a taxi there is a strange system. What's wrong with a normal rank like every other airport. LBA used to be a good regional airport, but it has seriously deteriorated in the last few years.

The new £2 charge simply for driving past the terminal is another nail in the coffin of what used to be a pleasant experience i.e. using a small regional airport. It's a long drag up from the "free" long-stay car park only to find the first terminal doors that you come to are locked! If you do drop off and pay the fee it's still a long way to get inside because of paranoia about security. I have never seen an airport this bad, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Geneva. Dreadful in bad weather. It's wrong that traffic wardens should patrol the service roads to enable a private company to extort this rip-off charge from people. Most of the upstairs seating (there isn't any downstairs) has been ripped out to make a bigger cafe, so people clog up all the tables instead, so if you are actually wishing to eat there are no free tables. This was probably a deliberate policy so people will pay to use the lounge. Flying nowadays isn't a barrel of laughs with all the security etc but LBA makes it much worse.

The airport badly needs a terminal capable of handling its passenger load and better road access. With those, it could be a good experience as the staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful.

Usually I only walk that long when moving from terminal A to terminal B not in a single terminal airport. My experience at the arrivals was very quick as the 757 bus to Leeds city station was there for me. A small, over utilised airport with poor customer service and amenities - in the 6 months I've been unlucky enough to use it, it's getting worse. As pointed out - it's a long walk from any short stay through check in and security. This has recently been made worse. In the event someone wants to drop you off at the airport - they will now pay £2 for the pleasure (unless you use a distant car park). There's little space in the check in areas (except the separate Jet 2 portacabin), leading to mixed queues of passengers arriving at the airport, some waiting to check in and some waiting to go through security. There is one person handling security for 'standard' passengers - which is the majority of them. when I leave in the morning - it takes approximately 15 minutes to clear the passport check and another 10 to get through security. Jet 2 and others have scheduled flights which converge between 0730 and 1100 leading to a couple of thousand people (no exaggeration) attempting to get past one person. Of course, if you're willing to stump up another £3 you can 'fast track' - with another dedicated member of staff waiting to check your boarding pass. Airside, facilities are dire and over utilised. No choice but to wander through shop to move from security to the gates - carefully laid out to ensure it's impossible for more than a couple of people to pass through without bumping into each other. Awaiting you is insufficient seating and the usual dreadful airport chain cafes. Staff are surly on the whole and gate announcements are tardy and inaccurate. Looking to board at gate 9 for Southampton. That's fine - as long as you wait for an entire group heading for Belfast to board first. No co-ordination between ground crew and general lack of engagement. To summarise - unpleasant experience.

The weather was awful, and the car park was in a treacherous state but inside the terminal information about delays was good (announcements actually apologised for the 'inconvenience that will be caused' rather than the more usual mealy-mouthed 'may be caused'), staff were available, polite and cheerful and my BMI flight to BRU got away less than an hour late despite the need for de-icing.

In the past LBA had all the virtues of a small airport, for which the odd limitation was an acceptable trade-off. Now it's just another miserable big airport in miniature - all of the bad bits, with none of the good bits. As other posters have noted the drop-off experience is ghastly and the £1 baggage trolley charge is crass. The former long stay car parking has suddenly been chopped in two. They made the half that's nearest the terminal into short stay. This bit is naturally deserted, since LBA has almost zero business/short haul traffic. So you now walk miles across this empty car park before reaching the long stay somewhere near Horsforth. From here, your long walk uphill back to the terminal is compounded by all the old entry doors being permanently locked since they now placed the main entrance at the far end of the terminal. Once inside, of course they make you double back, since security is back in the direction you came from. A good work out for such a tiny airport. Baggage handling can be lame. On my inbound flight, when the bags emerged on the carousel they were from the wrong flight. Pax noted this, staff did nothing. So staff were alerted who immediately went on the defensive and refused to help, "we don't know any more than you do" etc. So we all stood and watched the same bags go round for maybe 20 minutes with no-one taking anything off. Because no bags were claimed, there was no room to load any more of the right bags. So they just kept going round and round. Staff refused to take them off, bizarrely insisting "please remove your bag so we can make more space". Hey, they're the wrong bags, we kept telling them. "Don't get shirty with me it's not our fault" etc. Meantime the other side of the curtain, 4 baggage handlers sat around doing nothing with full carts that they could not load - stalemate. Eventually enterprising pax started pulling off the wrong bags manually to make the odd bit of space. At which point ground staff suddenly decide to confuse everyone by announcing "if your bag has not arrived, please come and fill in a form". So now more mayhem as the pax try to ascertain, "did they not even load the bags at all?" Reply - "we don't know any more than you etc" Meantime the odd correct bag suddenly starts appearing, one at a time, in the gaps created by the enterprising pax. An hour later, eventually everyone got their bag, one by one. By the way, this was the only inbound flight in an otherwise deserted baggage hall. It really defies belief. Well done guys, you messed up the nice little airport that was LBA.

Leeds Bradford has a dreadful and distant approach for passengers - the barriers and drop-off arrangements are some of the worst in the world. It seems to have been assumed this is a centre of terrorist attack and the precautions are ludicrous ! IDH, airport of the capital of the western world actually allows drop-offs at the doors ! The Jet2 terminal looks like a temporary building and the security queues are a joke !

Excellent check in - literally two minutes. Food hall ok, although limited choice. Security was quick and departure hall was clean and not overly busy - although it can be very busy Friday/Saturday. Arrival was quick - there was a queue at immigration but all desks were open and we queued for no more than five minutes. The baggage reclaim area was a breeze and no queue for baggage. I used the short stay car park - whilst its fairly expensive it is in front of the terminal and very convenient.

I found Check-in and security a breeze. Departure lounge fairly busy, but plenty of seating - downside was food smell downstairs from the food outlet. On arrival back immigration fairly busy but queued no more than 5 minutes. Arrivals hall very busy - 5 flights sharing 4 carousels. However bags off and collected in 10 minutes and out out of the onsite car park 5 minutes after that.

Having moved to Germany and had to frequent LBA much more I am appalled at the security provisions ie length of wait and their attitude. I was going to ignore my last flight to Dusseldorf on 26th March with Jet 2 but it still remains with me. One screen in use, 3-4 personnel hanging around, passengers shouted at for their mobile ringing. Where does it say they have to be turned off? I tried to tell myself they were being so secure in their searches but the mobile phone I had lost was in my bag, they missed that even though I asked them to look for it. Overseas visitors were trying to jump the queue as they were frightened of missing their flight, everybody was hot, bothered and stressed and surrounded by noisy youths who were not told to switch off. My flight was delayed due to security, not that Jet 2 seemed bothered and the shop was empty because like me I had no time to do the shopping I wanted to do. I also had a bet with my husband which I lost, over being challenged about my plastic bag for toiletries, that was the first time they did not challenge what had always been acceptable in Stuttgart, Amsterdam and Dusseldorf?

Pre booking car parking - if you are taking two cars you need to use two separate visa/credit/debit cards unless you will be charged again and then £10.00 refund fee for your trouble is applicable. This is after receiving E mails to confirm both bookings and instructions. Its the first time I have prebooked this service but will use alternative in future. Had to wait 6 hours for call to be returned and 7 days for a refund!

I travel every couple of months from Düsseldorf to Leeds Bradford and am grateful for the connection. I agree that the facilities leave a lot to be desired. There are too few gates and there is not enough seating for people waiting. Thank goodness Jet2 has its own check-in area. The forecourt work is a disaster. While one appreciates the need to create stand-off in front of the terminal, it is made ridiculous by the fact that the extra short-term parking area is within lobbing distance of any old projectile over a wire netting fence to where the aircraft are parked. Good job I'm neither a terrorist nor a litter bug. Every time I drop someone off or get collected by kind relatives, the parking situation is worse and the distance for luggage heaving longer. Oh for adequate parking, a decent eaterie and more seating in the arrivals waiting area. The contrast between hand baggage checks at the respective ends of my journey (Düsseldorf and Leeds Bradford) is like day and night. In DUS, they are sensible, humane, polite, reasonable. At L/B, they are officious, unfriendly, aggressive, careless with people's property and sloppy in their personal manners. Either the equipment must be incredibly inefficient, or they recruit "Jobsworths" only. Hateful experience for most travellers.

I didn't think Leeds airport could get worse but it has! The 'improvements' have to be seen to be believed. On a cold foggy night no-one knew where they could be collected. Total traffic jam in car park. I will go to any lengths to avoid this airport now but unfortunately my daughter lives in Leeds.

This airport is a shambles and disgrace to West Yorkshire. When it is not fogbound, it is a traveller's nightmare with onerous walks with baggage from transport to airport (particularly if you rent a car) and chaotic check-in desks. The internal layout is very poorly planned, with many bottlenecks and crazy queues in corridors to access security and too few check-in desks. Very poor.

What a shambles of an airport. I'm finding it very difficult to think of anything positive to say about this place at all. In relation to it's position as the main airport for West Yorkshire, it is nothing short of an appalling. I can see there are plans to upgrade the facility that look as if they have started already. Maybe the best plan would have been to flatten it and start again. The final straw was them trying to board two flights from the same gate at the same time. My BMI flight to Heathrow was shown on the screen as boarding, but when you went to the gate they were still boarding a Jet2 flight to Amsterdam. Total chaos as London passengers were being asked to step aside and, eventually, blocked the gate completely while the final stragglers for the Amsterdam flight were still turning up. It's not as if either plane were docked as both sets of passengers had to walk out in the wind and rain over the apron to get to their planes. Surely a quick change of gate for either one of the flights would have worked better. Anyway, I digress, this airport is a shambles from start to finish.

Good short stay parking is all this airport has going for it. Catering facilities are poor and inadequate. High elevated position of airport & runway results in far too many delays, re-routes and cancellations due to fog / adverse weather conditions.

What a shame that I have no alternative commuting from Düsseldorf. The parking facilities and the overall connectibility to the airport are a catastrophe. For a regional airport catering for the Leeds area and it's finance centre one would have expected far more. As I arrived there on 29th July, my pick up required 40 minutes alone to exit the car park. Landing after 930pm would also be catastrophic if one had to rely on public transport. First bus to Huddersfield leaves at 0540am the next day! I agree to the previous comments pertaining to cleanliness and the difficulties of immigration control. Going for immigration through a duty free shop which really is cluttered is nothing more than a gag.

Leeds Bradford airport is very poor. Poor communication, very poor food, much ridiculous climbing up and down stairs, long walks or silly bus journeys, very slow security, shop for papers books etc today manned by 1 person - 30 in the queue. It makes Belfast look excellent!
