If I forget about the queuing time in the immigration, I like IKIA. Pretty clean, good choices of snacks and
soft drinks. Duty free shops are growing. Toilets are okay but could be better. An excellent view of the
runway. Business class lounge is nice and the view to the apron is even better here.

My last arrival into IKA was on Friday, November 24th, 2011. My departure was a week later. Prior to this
trip, I went through IKA airport in July 2011. I noticed improvements to Duty Free shops and the bathrooms
seemed to be cleaner (smelt better). The management of security check-in is still non-existing and they
seem to have no knowledge of queue management and crowd control! The elevators connecting the parking
garage downstairs to the terminal floors upstairs are still inadequate, they remain a major bottleneck.
Overall, IKA airport is not an airport I look forward to using!

Arrival from Hamburg at 9pm was good, passport control was quick. Tip: If you have got an
Iranian passport, you can also go to passport control for foreigners. There are less people
and the control will last less than 2 minutes. Departure at 8am was a bit stressful,
especially security control at airport entrance. After check-in and passport control I relaxed
in the airport cafe where you can get good snacks. Toilets could be cleaner but they are
cleaner than in every other airport in Iran.

Arrival at 5am from Doha. The queue to clear immigration was long due to a lot of arriving
passengers. It took about 45 min. Each passport was scrutinised very closely. Once through my
bags still hadn't arrrived on the belt and this took another 15 mins. Then we had to have all
bags X-ray'd before we left the arrivals area - presumably they were looking for duty free
drinks. Departure at 19.00. Warning - do not show up at the airport too early otherwise they
won't let you into the check in area. All bags xray before entering. Check in area spacious
and quite pleasant - quite a modern looking airport and better than Mehrabad. I was checked in
very fast as I was flying Qatar Airways business class. Reasonable selection of shops and
money changing airside. The business lounge was comfortable with a good selection of drinks
(non-alcohol of course), snacks and ice-creams. Free internet. A good view over the apron. A
tip for economy passengers - behind the coffee shop and downstairs next to the business lounge
are about 20 reclining seats - this is out of the way so it was quiet and a good place to
relax. Departure was late due to cargo loading issues. But overall a pleasant experience.

Teheran International Airport is a shame for Iran. Departure lounge is too small. Services are
poor. A few overpriced shops with little selections and unfriendly staff - they obviously
dislike all there little work. Toilets have been renewed but are still extremely poor.

I flew into/out of IKA with KLM. Arrival was trouble free. Departure check in took only 10
mins, through immigration in 10 mins, but flight was delayed by an hour. I agree with other
reviewers that there is very little sitting space post-immigration, but the cafe, and their
staff plus a free (very slow) wiFi access made up for everything. Delicious cakes and juices
on offer, though expensive. Didn't venture into the duty-free but they were open even at
2:40am. On balance, I was impressed by IKA - the thing that struck me was that the ground
staff were more cheerful than most other places in Iran.

This airport is very new, but looks like it is 30 years and not maintained. The floors are damaged
by cuts and stains. Did they made the floor first and build the rest afterwards? Arrival was
painless, and I noted that Iranians had to screen their baggage at customs, but not the westerners.
Departure was a nightmare. After the security check there are no facilities. Nothing to drink or
eat, and not enough sitting space. The flight was delayed, no information was given, and we had to
stand at the gate for a long time. I travelled business class, but no priority was given.

Using IKA for flying to IST and return. Outbound : entering check in area takes sometimes 20 minutes
in early morning as the airport is crowded - passport control was pretty fast. Airport was not as
clean as before - windows quite dirty and toilets was not clean. Free wifi is still working nice.
Food and beverages are OK but expensive comparing to similar items in the city of Tehran. Inbound
arriving at terminal by bus. Immigration was fast after immigration my bag was on belt waiting for me.

Airport seams much better than older Mehrabad airport. The airport seems clean and nice - check-in
was fast but immigration police line made me wait about 45 minutes. Duty free shops are starting to
work. There is a Segafredo bar, Coffee Bean bar (nice coffee bar with cakes and patisseries) and
many seats to relax.

28 May 2008 Customer Rating :
New airport is very clean and modern. Immigration is fast and so is baggage collection, however, the
conveyer belts at check-in malfunction and cause annoying delays. Getting out of parking garage is
very difficult, many cars jam together and wait in a 30 minute line to pay the parking fee. Distance
from downtown Tehran is a setback, and airport has problems.

Used IKA to Korea on Business class. Only two gates for departing pax to enter check-in area which
is not enough. Check in was fast and efficient. Business class lounge is big but not clean - some
drink and limited items to eat. Toilets not so clean and a bad smell even in toilet of business
class lounge.

28 April 2008 Customer Rating :
Using Tehran new airport named Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA). It takes about 1 hour and
half from city to the airport. Taxi fee from city to airport is about RLS 100000 - equal to USD 12.
Only two gates for security check of passengers one for men and the other for women. But 88 check-in
counters. There is not many options for food, just an Iranian chain fast food (Boof) and two cafes.
Only one branch of Bank Melli Iran. Only a few airlines using the airport. Passport check was quick
while departing to Dubai. It is better than the the old Mehrabad Airport (THR) but the distance from
the city - while there is no train or metro - will be a disadvantage.

15 January 2008 Customer Rating :
Departing on January 6,2008 and snow storm started. IKA did not have enough equipment to clear the
runway which result to cancellation of all the flights. During snowstorm, no taxi showed up and
passengers were stuck in airport for days. Only 1 deicer was working to deice airplane before
departure. Only on bus was working to move passengers between gates to airplane. Cafe and resturant
in transit area run out of food quickly. Not enough electrical jack existed to charge cell phones or
laptops. Arrival was ok, luggage delivered ontime and custom cleared quickly. Airport is very far
from city, if your flight delayed, it does not worth to go to city and come back again. You will be
stuck in airport with no place to go or to rest. The only good thing there was free internet kiosk
and free wifi access.

Arrived at 9.35am at Imam Khomeini airport on October 18th 2006 from
Dubai on Emirates. Airport is very clean, immigration quick and
efficient, then went to collect my checked bag downstairs. Waited for
about 45 mins, everyone else had collected their bags, apart from myself
and one other man. Carousel then stopped so I went to Lost luggage to
report my bag missing. The guy checked my claim ticket and gave me
receipt, told me to call on the telephone number he gave me. Later that
evening, after the 4th call the guy said they have found my bag, but I
need to go back to the airport as they won't deliver it to my hotel.
Sure enough I got my bag but I had to wait 24 hrs. The airport is a good
one and half hours from Tehran city, if the traffic is not too bad.
The airport works but don't lose your bag.

Teheran's new airport is an excellent transit point to Europe from East Asia.It is currently served
by gulf carriers especially Mahan Air. Very clean great view of the apron and runway.Friendly staff
guides you through transit. On Mahan Air free access to transit lounge including soft drinks and
snacks. Plenty of seating so very relaxing.Reminds me of Malta International but far bigger.
