Humberside International Airport by Brian Henderson

This airport is vastly improved since the previous comment. Ideally situated for the catchment area south of the Humber. After nightmare journeys just getting to Manchester Aiport, my visits to NZ are now via Humberside and Amsterdam. Minimum fuss, no crowding, a relaxed start to a lengthy trip. Additional package flights are now offered and the Amsterdam hub is a definite plus. There used to be a direct link to LHR with Air UK but this was discontinued before the demise of the airline and never revived. Although not essential could be useful on occasion. Landing costs I believe.

Very basic airport, handling mostly summer charter fights, but also year round KLM scheduled to AMS, which is a boon if you want to avoid LON or other UK airports. Really quick and relaxed for both departures and arrivals. Really quite under used, has a small shop, a restaurant, a travel agency, a couple of kiosks - and quite expensive parking. No public transportation.
