Hong Kong is a great airport as good as Changi. From landing to being on the road was 20 mins,
including collecting checked bag.

T1, Qatar Airways to/from DOH. Enormous terminal, long distances to/from gates, but all the
travelators work so it doesn't matter. Large queues at security/immigration, but through in
minutes as sufficient staff are available. Excellent selection of shops and restaurants, but
not easy to find shops which sell bottled drinks (more practical for long-haul flights).
Security efficient and firm, but polite. Helpful staff everywhere, with good English spoken.
Cleanest airport I have ever seen. Bag already on the belt as soon as I cleared immigration,
and on the MTR 30 minutes after landing. In-Town Check-In works perfectly and saves hours.
Everything seems to work like clockwork here. HKIA is clearly the Gold Standard by which
others ought to be judged - no UK airport even comes close.

Free internet in selected areas of the airport and many shops and restaurants - only problem I
noticed is price. At Singapore you will find stores and restaurants catering to all budgets.
In Hong Kong, everything especially food was similar to US prices - I did not see where the
low end food places were.

Really nice uncomplicated layout which makes tourists find their boarding gates faster. The
airport was really clean and the high speed train service helps a lot.

Clean, beautifully designed terminal buildings with efficient processes from check-in to
boarding. The staff are courteous, plenty of shops, restaurants and different forms of
entertainment to be had including free Internet. Transport links are excellent including a
reasonably priced airport express train going from the terminal building to Hong Kong station
in 24 minutes.

Very big and well run airport - on inbound arrival, there was still some queuing through
immigration about 15 mins plus with the on-going H1N1 virus, officials checking each passenger
for any signs of disease. Plenty of trolleys at baggage reclaim, baggage did take about 10
mins to arrive on belt, plenty of transport options from airport to city centre. Outbound
flight, straight through check-in with no queues and with plenty of shops open even at 10.00pm
to browse around, as airport is so big, plenty of travelators and shuttle train to remote
gates at far end of terminal. Terminal well maintained and clean, plenty of staff to help
passengers

For outbound flight, the clean and spacious departure hall impressed me most which it had
clear signs and information board. This is a very efficient airport for the immigration
control. Staff in the airport are helpful in helping me to locate those printing stations for
me to print out my hotel confirmation (which I've forgotten).
For inbound flight, baggage reclaim was very efficient which baggage is ready within 15
minutes after landing. I'm very impressed with this airport.

Despite being a large modern airport, it still failed to impress. The biggest problem were
ground staff - both for airline check in and information and for security and immigration.
Despite being what appeared to be peak time (0900h) there was only one channel of security
open and two channels of immigration. This resulted in the line up being well out into the
check in area despite the switch back crowd control devices. Once inside the passenger
departure area I was disappointed to see that half of the stores and facilities were still
closed. My impression was that the standards had slipped significantly from the last time I
was at this airport.

Great experiences in and out - so refreshing after US airports. Arrival at busy time and new
immigration desks opened as needed and good marshalling of lines. Departure process just as
easy. Only criticism would be that shopping seems to be the same over-priced designer stores
every other airport has these days.

No doubt that Hong Kong International is among the best in the world. Kind Immigration, short
lines and good signage. Public transportation options from and to the airport impressive. Also
option to check-in many hours before the flight in the city centre is very practical. However,
even Hong Kong International has its downsides. Shopping options before security very good,
not the same is true for the Duty-Free area which has limited options in the way of
restaurants and shops. Also no Airside Hotel, but a resting lounge with cabins to rent which
is a let down.

Made a transit and arrival here. Airport was good in transit, Cathay Pacific or airport staff
helped out. Arrival quick because it was a non-busy hour. I enjoyed the time to use the free
airport wifi during transit. However, it is a bit confusing (signs).

Arrived into Hong Kong from Heathrow on an Air New Zealand flight in the early evening. First
impressions were good, airport was spacious and everything was well signposted. We had to wait
around 30 mins to clear immigration, which was longer than I expected, but still acceptable.
Baggage was waiting on the carousel when we made it through to the baggage area and we were
able to easily get a taxi from outside the terminal. On our flight out of HKG to SIN we
checked in but didn't realise that the majority of shops / restaurants were through the
security check point and spent about an hour wandering around the landside where facilities
are limited. Airside there are numerous shopping and eating places and we made the most of a
three hour delay by having a great meal and looking round the designer shops. Overall, a great
airport and a great place to journey in and out of SE Asia.

Hong Kong International is a world class airport. Having both transited, arrived, and departed
I can say that the airport is built for efficiency and practicality. I love how security is
done immediately after immigration, so that once you are on the airside, you don't have to
worry about being caught up with security after your dining/shopping as well as the 100ml
liquids rule if you decide to buy drinks for your flight. They don't coop you up in a small
room. The immigration process was speedy for a major airport, and they didn't spend time
asking me any absurd questions. My final impression - great food, shopping, professional
staff, a cozy and clean feel.

Transit passengers do have to go through immigration and whilst the people there do an
excellent job the lack of directions to the transit immigration search area is less than
adequate and in fact quite incomprehensible. The queues are long and tedious. The facility is
obviously one that has just been thrown up as an ad hoc measure but having had to experience
it several times in the last few months I would have thought that a more adequate area could
have been built by now. It compares less than favourably with Kuala Lumpur and other airports
in this respect. Otherwise a superb airport.

Clean, spacious, very quiet, well-organised, clear signs. Good choice of shops and places to
eat - nicer than average airport range. I spent quite a while here as my incoming flight was
delayed and hence I had to get a later transfer - staff were helpful and efficient organising
this, and food voucher was supplied quickly without my having to ask for it (unlike at some
other airports). If I had to be stuck at any airport, this was a good one to be stuck at!

Arrived very late evening and got through immigration and customs with a minimum of fuss
despite considerable crowds. Officials were organising immigration queues so foreigners could
use residents' desks when unoccupied. Health check was thorough but unobtrusive. Baggage
retrieval was quick. Whisked off to airport hotel from corporate desk in arrivals hall and in
room in about 40 mins from landing! Departure a few days later was just as easy. Early check
for our flight was available and we had an excellent western breakfast landside. A quick check
of the many stores before heading for security which was very busy by mid morning but moving
quickly. Emigration was also efficient and pleasant. Had time to check out the many excellent
stores airside before heading to our gate. This is a big airport with long concourses. The
moving footways are a godsend and there is plenty of good signage. Gate lounges have plenty of
comfortable seating and boarding procedures were well managed. There is an open feel about
this airport that makes the whole experience pleasant.

I've been to Hong Kong International Airport six times now. Not once has it let me down. I use
Hong Kong International Airport every three years when I go back to Hong Kong to visit family
and friends. Customs is great and quick, because now they have the special lane for Hong Kong
born residents. It only took 25mins to leave the airport. Flying Cathay Pacific I was able to
check 29kgs of luggage in while I was only meant to carry 20kgs. The shops and restuarants
were great, lots of things to do at the airport. So make sure you arrive three hrs before your
scheluded departure. Public transport is the way to go in Hong Kong, only $45HKD one way to
Hong Kong Island whilst a taxi ride can set you up around $350HKD. The airport express rail is
also good value is your in a rush departing every 12mins, and only taking 24mins taking you to
Central. The center of Hong Kong Island. If you have a lot of luggage after your shopping
spree visit in Hong Kong. Never check in at Central or Kowloon. The max luggage available per
person is 22kgs.

HKIA is arguably the best airport that I have been to. The service is excellent, the staff are
friendly and helpful and there is a wide range of stores to shop and dine in comfort. This
airport is incredibly efficient, modern with great design and it is also very clean. No wonder
HKIA was voted the best airport in the world for the last seven years in a row and I hope that
HKIA keeps up with its superb service when I return.

This the second time I have been to Hong Kong and I am still impressed. Nice centralized
dining/drinking & shopping. Security check was quick and passengers are allowed to check-in
at either Hong Kong or Kowloon Stations before traveling to the airport. The only thing they
need to work on is the speed of immigration procedures.

This is what an airport should be. It is the standard in which all others should be judged.
Not only is it visually pleasing, but its built for functionality and volume. One of the
best, if not the best airport I have had the pleasure of going through. The lounges are
great, the shopping is interesting and windows reveal everything that is going on. I could
spend an entire day here! From arrival, baggage, customs, pick-up areas, everything is well
organized and easy to navigate through. Signs are everywhere, staff are everywhere - baggage
takes minutes to arrive - its a wonderful feeling when everything works. It makes traveling
special. Checking in is brilliant as well. Lots of staff, lots of security/customs staff.
They really know how to handle volume.

Amsterdam to Cairns via Hong Kong on business class. Had 11 hours to kill. Flying Cathay
Pacific. It is too big. Lounges to far from each other. Food lousy and very little choice.
Nothing to do. Shops ok but too much the same. One big bug was trying to find a lounge with
comfortable seat for a European. Not impressed at all. Staff were not really friendly and
little English spoken.

Hong Kong needs fast track immigration for premium passengers. So many airports now have it.
On the whole I like it, although it's confusing to find different CX lounges. Great for plane
and people watching. Lots of wide aisles, which you need to walk around the tour groups that
never leave their groups.

Immigration was far from pleasent, a 45 minute wait on arrival and a 15 minute
wait on departure. VIP lounge (Plaza Premium) was pretty poor, cramped with poor
ventilation and indifferent food.

I have been through HKG many times and must say that it rates as one of the best airports that
I have visited. Well laid out with clear directions. Spacious and very clean.
Great choice of food. Free wi-fi connection. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Immigration and security adequately staffed. There is now a Burger King landside on arrivals
level. Toilets are clean throughout the airport. However, on my last arrival here I was
accosted by two taxi touts - just like the old days at Kai Tak. I reported this to the AA and
was assured that their "anti-touting team" would be more vigilant. From disembarking to
sitting on the bus to take me home was only 35 minutes, although my "personal best" was 20
minutes.

I have been through this airport about 10 times in the past two years or so and on one hand I
like the space, food choices and practicality of it, but on the other hand I find the lighting
poor and the place just feels a bit dull and drab! The shopping is good and if you can get
into a lounge they are very good too. Overall I know the place well and feel it is well run
though the transfer areas whilst waiting for a new ticket or such like seem to be
disorganised. I often travel from London to Hong Kong then transfer to Manila.
