Granada Airport by Paul Harvey
16 May 2009 Customer Rating :
A very easy airport to use. Arriving on an evening Ryanair flight, deplaning was quick,
passport control almost friendly, and the airport bus was immediately outside to speed us to
town for only 3€. Return was just as easy, the security staff were friendly, plenty of seating
in both the main airport and the gate area. No WIFI but one rarely gets everything.

GRX is fairly spacious for a regional airport. Very clean, marble interior with plenty of seats
landside to use without having to buy anything (are you listening UK airports?), and even though it
has only one cafe/restaurant - the food is usually great value, edible and affordable (lots of tapas
dishes too). Long/short stay parking amazingly cheap. Airbus service to city is aways available, and
there always seem to be plenty of taxis waiting outside. Very friendly security staff too. A good
alternative to using Malaga airport.

GRX is a small regional airport. Boarding and disembarking aircraft is
usually very quick due to the limited aircraft movements. Passenger
facilities are limited, waiting areas are small, no lounges, minimal
eating outlets and taxi's are hard to come by (which is surprising for
an airport). However, some of the nicest security screening staff that
I have ever come across, always smiling and patient with passengers (UK
and US staff can really learn something here!).

It is also worth pointing out that there are no shops beyond the
security check at Granada airport. There is only a vending machine which
sells water, but which is regularly out of order. I suggest you eat well
before arriving and buy any duty frees elsewhere. Like Málaga, which is
far better prepared for this kind of tourist traffic.

Granada Airport is located about 15km west of Granada. Single runway,
small terminal. Regular buses run into the city. If you arrive late, no
worries as it is only a short taxi ride. In recent years, the number of
flights have increased. Mainly to Madrid and Barcelona, but with also
Liverpool, Stansted, Melilla. The usual facilities for a small airport,
so don't expect too much.
