Check-in for a flight on a Saturday morning. Absolutely no queuing at security check, friendly staff and quick
service. Good update of restroom facilities in the B/C terminal area. Seems like the installation of a service
evaluation button has helped to increase cleanliness. Ample seating facilities in all "A"-terminal area. Both
out-going and in-going on Lufthansa flights use of airbridges, so quick boarding guaranteed. Considering the
amount of passengers using this international airport on a daily basis, the service they provide is
commendable.

Booked a return trip LHR-SIN via FRA in June 2011 for travel in November 2011. Connection times for each leg
where 1hr 40mins and 1hr 35 mins respectively. Read the reviews on this site about FRA and was very
concerned I made a big mistake and not left enough time to make the transfers due to the confusing nature
of airport. Having now made the trip, I can wholly recommend the airport. On the outbound journey we
parked at a bus stand and was bussed to B terminal. Our connecting flight departed from a C gate. The
signage at the airport is clear. Follow the signs to C. The return journey was just as straightforward. We
arrived at a C gate and had to transfer to B22. However this gate was changed to B47 during the time we
were at the airport. But there was at least two clear announcements and flashing indications of change on
departure gate boards. I agree the walks can take 15 mins or so, but it is a big airport. What do people
expect? Walk off one plane straight onto another? In conclusion, if anybody is like me, and is a rare user of
FRA, do not be put off by the negative comments on this site. There are plenty of signs, and they are clear.
Queues were also reasonable for large airport. Still had plenty of time to make connection.

My main complaint about this airport is simply that there are far too few gates compared to the number of
flights. 90% of time, there is no gate (no jet bridge) available, rather you get on and off the airplane using
stairs and then walk to people movers. I saw plenty of elderly people and people with kids, being severely
inconvenienced in those things. For that reason alone, I do not recommend this airport. Also, this airport has
one person restrooms with people lining up outside.

If, like me, you're arriving on a remote stand at Terminal 2, be prepared for a very, very long walk. There was
a massive queue at passport control and a surprisingly large number of 'repairs in progress', making the
terminal look scruffy.

I've made two round trips through this airport in the last 6 months. Each time has got progressively worse.
In 8 arrivals and departures the only time a jet way was used was for 2 departing Lufthansa flights to Zurich.
All others used a stairway from the plane then herded you onto a bus to get to the terminal. Once in the
terminal it is a half-mile walk to get to the gate up and down stairs or waiting in a long line for the very
small elevators. Never again will I connect through Frankfurt.

I use FRA frequently and cannot understand most of the complaints. True, signage is in dire need of revamp
and first/business class lines are not strictly enforced at security. But cleanliness of the airport or lavatories
has never been an issue. It's one of the world's biggest airports so walking distances can be significant. But
this comes with the convenience of connecting flights.

Never again. Bad signage, (twice I went into dead ends finding myself alone with no one to ask), few
arrival/departure boards, no available customer service in terminals, really long walks, (I don't know how anyone
with walking impairments can connect in this airport). Where is the German efficiency we hear about? US Air allows
too little time for its connecting departures out of this airport. I was on the run yet nearly missed my flight.
Never again!!

I did learn all the maps to understand layout, so was well prepared to transit trough it last week. It worked.
Signage there is useless as it doesn't explain difference between Shengen and non-Schengen wings. Went through both
terminals. Overall impression was very depressing. Badly planned and poorly managed. I had no problem at security
due to late departure time. Otherwise ten minutes spent on scanning my bag wouldn't work in big crowd. Immigration
had just one manned desk for all outbound non-EU traffic. Regular passengers, crews, fast track - all served in one
line in total chaos by one officer. I gave up my turn in the line for 12 crew members, 2 business class passengers
and one family with a baby. So many people jumping the queue before me! On arrival with Lufthansa from Nice we were
parked somewhere within 10 minutes bus ride. Arrival hall had just one narrow escalator (supermarket type) for 300
people with hand luggage. On departure we were asked to use automated gate with bar code readers with no staff to
assist. Many people with home printed and mobile boarding passes were confused, with no help at all. Staff at the
restaurant landside near b24 gate didn't speak English. Toilets near gates packed with people and not very clean.

I will gladly pay a good deal more for an airline ticket if I can avoid this airport. Endless queues, rude
customer service, and very confusing signage. Both my husband and I speak German and this did not help. There are
decent places for food in the main area, but once we got to our international gate, all that was available was a
wurst wagon that charged 5 euros for one sausage. We all got herded into a closed offgate area for a couple of
hours that had one toilet for everyone on the plane. Never again if I can at all help it!

My latest visit was a little disappointing - some of the elevators were not working, and no staff available to assist
the passengers waiting, signage was not clear. I was travelling in Business Class, and therefore able to use the
Lufthansa Business Class lounge once I finally got near the gate for my intra-European, intra-Schengen flight. The
Business Class area was spacious but again the food and drink were average and there was not much to read. I
was surprised airport authorities didn't handle the issue of passenger traffic control better as I'm sure they knew
the elevators weren't working.

A group of 6 for a vacation in the Far East. On our return transit flight to Frankfurt we were informed before
boarding at Shanghai that the weather in Frankfurt was bad and the flight was delayed 2 hrs. As the plane
approached Frankfurt, the flight was re-routed to Nünberg due to bad weather. The plane finally returned to
Frankfurt airport 3 hrs later. At 22.30, to our disappointment, there were only 2 custom gates open for approx
1000 passengers. I was disappointed because Frankfurt should know this and make the necessary precautions to
accommodate such a big surge of incoming passengers. After customs check, our airline ground staff informed us
they had re-booked our ticket on a Lufthansa flight to Zurich. They encouraged us to do a re-checking at Terminal
One to catch the first flight to Zurich at 06.10 hr next morning. We followed the instructions and queued up at
Terminal 1 check-in to obtain a new ticket. There were again long queues. We were advised us to be at the ticket
counter 2 hrs before departure - another disappointment. The next morning there was no one at the counter until
06.30 hr. Only one counter was open, after 06.45 hr, 3 new counters were opened and the queue was getting
very long. When we arrived at Zurich airport, 3 bags did not arrive. I do not need to explain much about our
dissatisfaction with Frankfurt airport.

The security personnel are extremely rude and highly disrespectful. I was flying from USA to India in June. Due to
the time difference, in USA time it was past midnight, I was sleepy and forgot to take few items out of my pocket.
The officer ridiculed me by saying loudly 'Is this the first time you are flying, go back to scanner'. I was co-
operating and took all my items out and scanned them through. Then the officer harassed me by scanning me
thoroughly and getting me off balance. In the name of security they are abusing passengers. Airport is old and
confusing, easy to get lost, long lines, mis-managed. Nobody seems to know anything.

Connected in Frankfurt today and once again the airport showed it's ugly side. Having been in a holding pattern, we
arrived 15 mins late. As seems usual, there were no gates so we had to wait for a bus which added about 15
mins to the delay. Upon arrival, the promised displays which were to tell us our connecting gate were nowhere to
be found. Airport personnel were unfriendly and obviously overburdened trying to handle the many people
demanding to know where to go. All I got was a general direction, 'go the left'. I followed that for a few minutes
and found someone else to ask and was given a gate number which at least was in the general vicinity. Finally I
found a display monitor which showed the correct gate, which was 10 gates away. My recommendation is to
avoid this airport if you need to make a connection.

We returned last week from Australia to Germany and I realized once again how awful Frankfurt airport truly is. A
confusing, dingy rabbit warren with impossibly long walks, no clear signs. We always feel confused when we are
there and we have flown in an out of Frankfurt a lot. And it seems to be getting worse.

Recently travelled from Oregon and connected here which was a disaster, we were directed out of the secure
area, re-processed and required to walk nearly a mile back to the same area we disembarked but one level down.
Toilets are tiny and dirty with lines 6-10 people long to get in. Security staff are at a level 2-3 times worse than in
the USA, which is bad. Flying in on Lufthansa and out on the same carrier did not help. I would suggest 1.5 hrs is
not enough for making a connection here.

Check-in at terminal 1B for flight to Sweden. Surprisingly friendly staff at security check and very short wait for
week-day morning. Sufficient seating at gate, good selection and price in airside shops. Unfortunately no airbridge
for boarding LH flight. Coming back bus service to terminal again, but quick baggage delivery.

We flew Condor Air to Frankfurt. We got in late and had to find our way with no offered help to Lufthansa Airlines
Service, which was a great distance from our arrival gate. When we asked for directions from security, a vague
'follow the signs' was the only offer. By the time we got to the service area, our options were limited to a flight 3
hours from our original connecting flight to Paris. Lack of signage, discourteous security, and absolute ignorance
by the airport personnel made us determined to never ever fly into Frankfurt again. We also had to exit and re-
enter security.

I am an avid Star Alliance Gold traveller and Frankfurt is the main hub for Europe. I recently flew from Istanbul-
Frankfurt -Newark. I had 1.5 hrs connection thinking it was suitable enough. My plane at Istanbul was delayed an
hour due to air traffic in Frankfurt. Once I arrived at FRA the jetway was not in use so we were bused over to
terminal 1B. Once I got there the walk was 1/2 mile and took a train to 1A (US flights) and then a security
screening. At the security there was not even a Business Class/Star Gold line which I though was unacceptable.
Luckily, my flight to Newark was delayed an hour or else I definitely would of missed it. Terminal 1A has to be the
ugliest part of Frankfurt Airport because there are very few shops and it is worn. The Tower Lounge is pretty nice
but would expect it to be nicer for a 4 Star airport. No matter what anyone tells you you need at least 2 hrs if you
are connecting from a European flight to an Overseas flight.

I recently travelled from Seoul to Oporto which involved a 5 hour transit time. Signage is
confusing, staff are rude and not at all helpful. Returning to Seoul this time from Milan it
didn't get any better, luckily once again I had a long time in transit. The only positive
feature of this airport are the Senator lounges.

Very unfriendly and stern security control personnel. They tend to bark orders, instead of
welcoming people with a good morning. Not to speak about the patting down of the passengers,
done in front of everybody.

Frankfurt Airport is by far the worst airport that I know. The airport has the advantage for
travellers to/from Germany that it is directly and conveniently connected to a train station
serving the ICE highspeed trains. However, that is the only positive thing that I can think
of. As many others have noted, transits from the Schengen to non-Schengen-area are extremely
difficult, and if you don't have a lot of time, they become reminiscent of an olympic
decathlon. You have to run down extremely long hallways while trying to look out for the few
small signs that might indicate where you have to go. Then you have to carry your stuff two
floors downstairs (only to go two floors upstairs again in the next terminal). Of course,
there is an elevator, but if you are in a rush, then you don't want to wait for it. The gates
are often overcrowded and there are very few places where one can sit. And one can not point
out often enough how rude the staff is. As a German, I can only say how ashamed I am at how
rude many Germans are when they are placed in a customer-contact situation. It is both the
reason why I avoid Lufthansa and why I avoid Frankfurt Airport.
