This airport is dirty, over crowded. The biggest problem to me was the total absence of family bathrooms after we
went through security. We had a long wait, as we had left a cruise ship. I travel in a wheelchair and sometimes
need help in the restroom if the floor is wet, or it is poorly arranged. Luckily a nice traveler overheard my
husband ask for a female staff to help me, and she offered to go with me with the staff person never showed up.
Many people were in this airport in wheelchairs or with small children. There is
remodelling in process, so
hopefully this problem is being addressed.

This airport needs a lot of upgrades. I flew here from Houston in the summer of 2012 on United and was
disappointed. We came 2 hours before our flight and ended up sitting for 1.5 hours in the dull cramped up
concourse with absolutely nothing to do. There is about 4 food options in the concourse in terminal 1. I would
not recommend this airport for many reasons. It is very dull and crowded with nothing to do.

This international airport is growing fast, and is very crowded and under construction. The lines at US
customs are very long. Our party had 1.5 hrs to make a 7.05 am. connection but missed it due to the slow
customs process which had only 3 officers for US citizens. One other employee seemed to enjoy telling
passengers who asked if anything could be done to help them make their connections, 'Probably not'. Finally
he called out 2 or 3 connecting flights, but only a handful got to the front of the line. The current state of
affairs makes a strong case for an upgrade to Global Entry expedited clearance. If you don't travel often
enough to justify the premium, avoid this point of entry.

Spirit gates are old, dirty, congested and lack any comfort. Customs/immigration is a "keystone cop"
operation. Security is cramped, outdated and lacks customer service.

I've never been in such a dirty airport with very little facilities. The air was thick and things didn't seem to
circulate properly. The ceilings are very low for a place where hundreds of people are breathing, walking and
causing friction in the pathways. The gate we stayed at had minimal facilities between convenient store/food
areas. I would absolutely not recommend this for transit, and am actually recommending people not to go
here if they can help it.

I have traveled all over the world and come into the US in almost every entry point and never have I had to
wait over 2 hours to go though customs. What an embarrassment that they can not get US citizens in to their
own country with competence. The line for visitors was less than an hour. There we're children screaming and
crying. Not a single announcement about delays or the time it was taking.

Terminal 3 arrival and departure. Easy enough to get to consolidated car rental facility. Easy return as well as
well marked for each car company. Security a breeze (late afternoon departure) with many open lanes. Be
warned, there is little in the concourse (US Air/American), so bring anything you need. Seating areas were
fine, but limited eating and areas with snacks and only 1 bathroom for the entire concourse.

Arrival is painless, but departing is the complete opposite. Very cramped check-in area and security is an
absolute disaster. If you arrive before 10.00 am, they only have two security desks open, despite the
hundreds of people lined up to get to their departure gates. Air side there are very few amenities. Overall
not a great experience.

Though FLL provides an easier outlet for Miami traffic, this airport could use some improvement. Firstly, the
gate areas are slightly unkempt, and rather cramped for the amount of people who travel through here. The
shops are unspectacular, and there aren't that many of them. Security took far longer than it needed too, and
I found the procedure uncomfortable (I prefer the conventional box method). Next time, I'm flying into MIA,
even if it's seemingly worse.

FLL provides a much more efficient, easier and mostly cheaper alternative to Miami
International. Signage to/from the airport is very good, the terminal (while quite busy) is
much easier to navigate than MIA and the rental car facility is a short walk across the
terminal by covered walkway. Dining and business facilities in Terminal 1 are very basic but
adequate. The terminal wasn't the cleanest, but no worse than most U.S. airports. The TSA
checkpoint moved very quickly considering it was a holiday weekend.

I have flown from Fort Lauderdale a few times. Mostly no complaints, nice and clean airport.
Easy signs to follow along with a great choice of restaurants. The Delta Terminal (Terminal 2)
has a great variety of restaurants in the great area as well. However, I am not satisfied
with Terminal 4. There are not enough seats in the gate area, a lot of people were sitting on
the floor or standing up. There is no variety of restaurants or nice lounges to have a drink
in this terminal unlike terminal 2 and 3.

Living only 7 miles from the airport terminal, FLL is extremely convenient to me. Fares are
sometimes lower than from Miami and the airport is much smaller than MIA. Facilities are
simple but beautiful, reminding at all times that you are in south Florida. TSA agents are
generally courteous and professional and lines for security are never too long. Also, there is
good dining choices all around.

Our first time using FLL and found baggage delivery quick and efficient. As we arrived at the
terminal with the rental car convenient although a bit of a walk compared with say Tampa.
Good signage for returning rental cars. Line up for security quiet long mid afternoon.

2 September 2009 Customer Rating :
I used FLL for the first time as a local driving up from Miami. The signage into the airport
is beyond confusing. Within a few hundred feet of exiting I 595 you are confronted with
poorly designed overhead signs pointing to hourly, daily, extended and economy parking; $15 a
day parking; $36 a day parking; the Hibiscus Garage; the Mimosa (?) Garage; rental car return;
arrivals; departures and Terminals 1,2,3 and 4 (with airlines listed). One driver was so
confused he (recklessly) stopped his car in a middle lane to interpret the signs. In my case
I somehow ended up in the $36 garage (I had wanted $15) and had to exit. Cashier said people
do that all the time. I then had to go completely around the airport and re-enter and this
time missed ALL of the parking. Another go round and got to the right garage, but each level
has confusing signs and booms restricting access to each. Make a mistake and the boom does
not open and you can't back up due to traffic - and there are two near-impossible-to-read sets
of overhead signage in the garage: one for pedestrians (exit, to terminal 1,2,3,4, etc) and
for cars (to level 6, to Hibiscus, etc). The garage itself has tiny, narrow spaces. You
almost need a sliding door mini-van to get out. Then I was challenged to find my way to the
terminal. There is a bus and / or tram promised, but the signs peter out before you can find
a "stop" and here are no obvious bus stops. I ended up following color coded, very faded
lines painted on the concrete through ten or fifteen turns and 100 to 150 meters to get to
terminal 4. Returning at 10 PM I encountered different unmarked bus stops for different lots
(economy versus daily lots) with a mishmash of signs on the busses for the Hibiscus Garage,
Economy parking and Rental cars. Actually got on the wrong bus and had to get off a few
meters later. (No announcement on the bus - you have to ask). Ended up having to get to the
garage via the rental car building and then found that the location I had written down did not
correspond to the actual location of the car. (Depending on how you exit the garages, you
can write down the wrong location). Another 15 minutes searching for the car in sauna-like
heat and humidity. All in all a completely confusing and frustrating experience for locals
driving in who do not use the airport on a regular basis.

12 August 2009 Customer Rating :
Flew recently to FLL. Worst Immigration line I have done in my entire life. 14 officers (for
visitors) were supposed to be working and there were just 3 checking us, while the whole 10
officers were checking the US citizens. There was a system rundown so it made the delay even
worse. We were in a queue for 3 hours! no priorities for little children nor old aged people.
I can't say anything about baggage claim because once we could step out of customs we saw our
suitcases almost being delivered to the "lost baggage office". Departure was a mess. They
changed our gate twice and terminal 4 was really small to handle all those pax.

Used FLL this past weekend on USAir. Easy to use facility, but definitely needs some work. Signage
needs to be improved-not a single direction sign as you deplane, requiring all to look both ways to
determine which way to exit the terminal. Rental car facility is all in one location whcih is nice,
but can be confusing as to where to go. Return midday Tuesday, only about 15 minutes at security.
Beware-there is extremely limited dining/shopping options air side.

12 February 2008 Customer Rating :
FLL has been renovated / expanded and seems quite new. Given that, it is really hard to understand
what they were thinking when they designed this airport. There are 3 predominant types of users:
people with families going on vacation, people who speak little or no English and the elderly. Given
that fact, one marvels at how disorienting, poorly organized and poorly signed this airport is.
Terminal 1 has high volume cattle car carriers Southwest and JetBlue and there is hardly enough
space for the lines at the ticket counters, the lines at security and the lines at the small eating
places. TSA seems to have been trained to stop terrorism by confusing and confounding passengers.
There were different rules about what to take off or take out as you're going through the machines
in different lines, and each line had someone shouting conflicting commands. In one, you left your
shoes on before going through one machine, then took them off. The rental car center seems well
organized. But finding it unless you arrived at Terminal 1 requires GPS and a 10-minute briefing
upon arrival. One can wander the big parking garage for what seems to be an eternity. Best example
of how this airport works is how one gets to the garage from the rental counter.: There are two pair
of doors. You can see the parking garage, which is outside of the building, through the glass in the
doors. One pair has the word "Enter" written in bold, the other has "Exit." Above the door that
reads, "Enter" is a bright emergency sign that reads "Exit." Since they both have automatic
operators, you can only use one. This must provide FFL staff hours of amusement watching
septegenarians try to figure out which door won't knock them over. I want to meet the person who
thinks this stuff up and smack some sense into him (or her). (The correct answer is that you must
exit through the door that says "Enter.")

Terminal I at Fort Lauderdale is the worse I have recently experienced. The catering facilities were
at best described as basic and totally inadequate for the post New Year volume. The airline
information was inadequate. Clearly not an airport to enter until the flight is due to board.

Used FLL on 2/10/07 and again 2/17/07. Inbound wasn't bad - I got a
kick out of the decor in the baggage claim area, as well as the use of
music instead of an alarm before the conveyor belt started up. However,
on the return trip, I also found that the employees are rude, as well as
quite a few of the passengers.

I flew out of Terminal 1 over Easter. Layout was a little unfamiliar,
as the concourse level was sandwiched in between ticketing (top) and
baggage claim (bottom). Baggage claim was efficient. Security at the
passenger pickup area was unbelievably obnoxious. Checkpoint lines were
long but not LAX long. The concourses were clean, but my main issue is
the lack of electrical outlets to plug in a laptop. I ended up looking
all over the end of the concourse and finally found one at an adjacent
gate.

Fort Lauderdale, terrible! First of all most of the food, restaurants are outside of security so you
cannot sit down and enjoy a meal and then sit in an hour of security lines. (lines have stretched
all the way outside the terminal!) The airport is dirty and the staff is not very friendly. Parking
is ridiculous to where there isn't any available near the terminal, it seriously is a 30 minute walk
to terminal 3 and 4, never saw a tram! I would avoid this airport and fly out of MIA.

Fort Lauderdale is indeed still the best alternative to MIA, however after a year I would have
expected some better upgrades as far as security checkpoints go. I know there is limited space, but
especially in the older terminals (2, 3) something should be done so there are more than four
scanners operating at best. Completely uncalled for, especially at peak hours when lines move clear
out into ticketing.

Fort Lauderdale is a good alternative to MIA. It is as convenient for most destinations in south
Florida, and it avoids the ghastly traffic in Miami. Parking is convenient and adequate
Although the new terminal is a vast improvement, the older terminal facilities are often overcrowded
and can be confusing. The baggage service and security lines can be very long and very slow,
especially on Fridays and Saturdays when cruise ship passengers are arriving and departing.

Flew out of the new Terminal 1. Was quite impressed with this facility, having seen it under
construction for quite some time. I was slightly disappointed at the layout though. Very confusing
setup for trying to locate ticketing (second level) and baggage claim (first level). Would highly
suggest some better signage. Sadly, baggage claim still had that horrible sounding alarm. Wish
they'd go to a traditional alert tone vs that music.

Flew into and from new terminal one (on Continental, but terminal services NW, Southwest and
JetBlue) - so much easier than Miami! Nice sit-down restaurant. Terminal is very open and tropical in
feeling. If you are flying within the US, this is much the better alternative. The one problem is
that there was a line for security.
