Flew from Toronto to Athens via Rome, and experience was not what I expected, as we exited the aircraft people had no
idea where to go, their was two trains with no signage to direct us to the connecting flights. It was by sheer luck we
chose the correct train. The security check was odd, having me frisked even though I had absolutely no metal on me! No
seating area and washrooms were disgusting. A/C was non-existent and the prices at duty free were hilarious.

I am, unfortunately, a regular traveller to Rome Fiumicino. Badly signposted, mostly dirty and neglected.
Security checks can be awful with long queues most of the time and, particularly in summer, the security area
is sweltering hot - I have not noticed any air conditioning working there these last 3 years. In general,
Fiumicino seems disorganized at best. Above all: Avoid checking in baggage! The rule of the thumb is that
you wait about as long as your flight was for your suitcase to arrive - at least for European. In my personal
ranking of European airports, Rome Fiumicino is definitely last!

Probably one of Europe's filthiest airport. All the structure lacks of maintenance. Security check staff really
impolite and they simply don't care. Few seating areas in C area and very expensive shops. In D area, the
glass side roof has never been washed. Terminal C queues to get through security checks are so long and
slow. I fly to Rome every fortnight for personal issues and I really know every corner of this airport.

MU flight from Rome to Shanghai January 6. The airport is undergoing renovation works but the facilities
remain far from the standards one would expect from Italy's main airport. The check-in area is overcrowded
(at least over the week-end). Security controls are understaffed: although the staff were very friendly the
queue time was excessive and so was the passport control area. The duty free area is quite good, with an
interesting variety of restaurants and shops to choose from. Again, we had to queue more than 40 minutes
for the VAT refund (mainly due to groups of Asian tourists claiming considerable refunds). The SkyTeam VIP
lounge is ok but could be improved.

It's a dreadful airport that matches greatly the dreadful reputation of Alitalia. We had to wait for 10 hours
our connecting flight from 23.00 to 9.15. The airport closes before midnight, meaning that you cannot find a
single employee to help you out. There are only a few cleaners and security. It is empty, and cold. During our
stay the temperature outside fell to -4 C, the air-conditioning blew out only cold air. I wore two woollen
blouses and my overcoat and I was shivering. Thankfully I knew that the stores would be closed so I had
brought some food with me from Amsterdam. All lounges were closed! I tried to sleep on freezing cold metal
chairs. I will never choose Alitalia or Fiumicino airport ever again. Although the ground crew had 10 hours to
put our luggage in the right airplane, they managed to mess that up also.

First hint that Fiumicino would be a disaster occurred after landing, while taxiing to the gate. The taxiways
are in horrible condition and it felt like we were on a dirt road! After a bus ride to the terminal, we were
greeted with a dirty and very run down Terminal. The appearance that maintenance is never performed on
this structure is obvious. Trash is everywhere (inside and out), the seating rows are going in all different
directions, and the walkways are filthy with windows you can barely see out of. Maintenance covers were half
hanging from their remaining screws, dust caked the vents, and grunge lined the walls. The baggage claim
area wasn't too bad and the wait reasonable. Airport staff/security was very rude. Getting from one Terminal
to another or to the train station requires walking a maze of rundown walkways. Signage is adequate. The
restrooms are filthy. Staff spend more time gossiping than actually cleaning. Upon departing, check in was
simple and security lines average. Maps showing the locations of food/shopping are non-existent. You must
be willing to walk long distances to find food of any variety. The terminal advertises free internet, but we
could not get it to work. My arrival and departure were from Schegen Countries, so I did not experience
Customs. I will purposefully avoid this airport in the future.

Toronto to Rome on Air Canada AC890, 9 October 2012 at 9.45 am. Baggage area was very quiet and our
suitcases arrived quickly. Area appeared to be unsecured, with tour group leaders holding signs for
passengers. Two Customs officers in conversation ignored every passenger as we walked past. Immigration
officers in booths waved us through without even raising their heads to look at us! Security non-existent!
This was even easier than in the pre-9/11 era. Does this deserve a 10 or a 7? Dozens of reps with
company signs or passenger names conveniently grouped in an easy to find area of a rather worn looking
terminal.

Airport has a good selection of food, drink and magazine stores. You can take the train to Roma Termini train station
downtown, or arrange a hotel shuttle. Avoid taxis as they are expensive. Airport is very poorly sign posted inside,
although the staff are helpful and speak good English. Security lines don't take too long to clear, and if arriving
from a Schengen country, no customs to clear.

I arrived at the airport at 7.20 am for a 8.20 check in with Finnair. The staff arrived shortly after 8.20 and
took their time setting up. The counters for this particular flight did not have the usual roped off queuing so
there was 4 individual lines. Myself and other people in the line could not believe it when the business class
counter offered people behind us service before us. Usually, this would not matter but we waited in line after
serving commenced for 45 minutes. This was by far the worst experience I have received at an airport and
can be attributed to bad attitude staff and staff with no common sense. Not sure if this was airline staff of
generic staff who worked at the counters because they were quite happy to have a chat while others had
been queuing for a long time.

I have flown in and out of Rome Fiumicino in the past few weeks both internationally and domestically using
several different carriers and on all occasions the experience has been extremely poor. On arrival there are
few air bridges, meaning you have to be transported by bus to the terminal in crammed buses. Once in the
terminal the baggage area is chaotic and disorganized. There are several privatized baggage handling
companies, meaning up to six flights' baggage end up on the same conveyor. Baggage took over an hour to
reach the conveyor belt, all the while sitting in summer heat with no air conditioning. The airport is dirty, the
toilets a disgrace. Signage is very poor to transfer and for the airport train. Baggage trolleys cost 2 euro,
there is no free wi-fi and security lines long. Airport staff seem to have no sense or care of urgency. If
transferring, allow at least 3-5 hours to allow for disembarkation, transfer to the terminal, baggage delays,
getting through security and immigration. All in all, it's hard to believe that one of the world's most amazing
tourist cities in western Europe has an airport that is so hopeless. Needs a complete overhaul or a new
airport to be built.

Rome Fiumicino is such a disappointment. Its a chaotic, confusing and most unattractive airport. It takes
ages before your luggage arrives and it seems that each suitcase of every inbound flight is dumped on the
same luggage belt. In summer it can be very hot and sticky in the terminals as the air-conditioning systems
are either not working or lacks on capacity . Employees seem not to be very motivated (no wonder when
working the whole day in such an environment). Even at the business class check in counter (we flew Swiss),
employees seemed to be ignorant and unfriendly. Be prepared to spend extra time in queues for security
control, as these can be very long. Passing security won't really give you a more secured feeling, as officers
seems to have more eye for each others then for the passengers luggage content. When you are lucky you
might have some time left prior boarding to visit some shops. Shopping facilities at Rome Fiumicino are fair,
but nothing extraordinary. Unless you really have to be in Rome, try to avoid this airport on any connecting
flights at all costs.

International arrival with transfer to international departure (Terminal G). Unfortunately, FCO uses buses
into which pax are crammed for transport to the terminal. Not a pleasant experience. Poor directional signs
for transfers and an airport that has non-existent climate control. Arrived in the morning with an early
afternoon departure. It is not an airport where one wants to spend too much time especially when the AC is
not effective. There are absolutely no clocks anywhere in the G structure. Not on the flight info directory and
not on a wall. No functioning free wifi either. It makes it difficult if one relies on a mobile device and not a
watch. On the upside, the facility was relatively clean and well organized.

I have just flown back from Rome and travelled from Fiumicino Airport, I had a very disappointing experience
of being charged 2 Euros for using a trolley to carry my luggage within the airport. I would like to know if
anybody has come across a disgraceful incident like this in other countries.

Arrived at Terminal 3 and easy connection for departure with Alitalia from Terminal 1. Terminal 3 needs a
facelift asap. Apart from that everything went smoothly, facility was clean, signs were clear, staff were
helpful. Plenty of places to eat or have a drink. Duty Free shop have some good offers and staff there were
very nice.

Flew with Swiss to and from Rome. Disembarkation was quick but the walk was not always very well
signposted. If you are a seasoned traveller it was fine but I could see many who seemed lost. Airport looks
old and is not very nice to be in. Luggage took a long time but after that was out quickly and got a taxi.
Return arrived at a crowded terminal but the Swiss check-in desk was empty. Could use fast track security but
even that was so slow and tedious. Ground staff unorganised when it comes to handling boarding as
everybody was boarded at the same time together with three passengers in wheel chairs. This created a long
line before one could enter the plane. It is certainly not an airport one wants to use on a regular basis.

The worst airport I have ever travelled to - there is no signage, T3 in need of dire upgrades. Security and
passport control alone took almost 2 hours to queue in. Could not believe that as an international terminal
handling flights like Emirates A380 they still have 1 metal detector for every 2 luggage x-rays. and they didn't
even have all lanes open. Passport control had only 4 lanes open. Make sure you give yourself plenty of
time, especially when going to a G gate, you have to take the train to the pier.

I have flown many times through this airport, it's easy to reach thanks to the numerous taxies and buses and
the two train's lines that connect it to the centre of Rome. Sometimes there are queues at check-in but not
too long, like others airports I've travelled through. Inside FCO airport there are many shops and places
where you can eat something, you can easily move inside it thanks to the many indications on the signs
located around the structure. It is a nice airport to use.

There are good points, and many bad points. Good points are based mostly on connection to/from Rome
itself, for which there are numerous trains, including non-stop Leonardo Express. Regional train is cheaper
than non-stop service takes you station by station along the way which can get cramped. Airport is
expansive, with numerous shops and restaurants. However good things start to dry up at this point.
Departure screens do not show the current time, clocks are few and far between. The layout of check-in desks
are such that queues of people soon clump together into great crowds. Security checks are a shambles -
snaking queues in all directions which lead into the one same narrow corridor.
