Dusseldorf Airport

Not Verified | The staff in the security check point are extremely disrespectful. I wasn’t aware of the rules that all travelers need to take out small liquid bottles and put them in a small plastic bags. In the US, if the volume is below 1 oz, you are fine. They had me take out all my laptop, iPad, Kindle and phones, and put through the system to the other side. When I was taking out my makeup stuff, I asked if they could let me keep all my stuff together, and they said no. What is even worse is that when I asked what I should take out from my makeup bag and put to the plastic bag they provided. The security woman yelled at me “Everything! Have you ever taken a plane before??” I was like “Yes, but never in Düsseldorf. You guys are different.” She yelled at me again “do you have a problem? If you do, take your stuff and leave!!” I was shocked. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries in the past few years and been through many many airports. I haven’t seen any one who are as disrespectful and unprofessional like those in Düsseldorf airport!! That is unbelievable and unacceptable!

Not Verified |  Very poor. On a plane from UK and only 40% of passport control booths open. Therefore, long slow queues. Didn't they know a plane was landing? Ridiculous.

✅ Trip Verified | As a frequent traveller I would like to express my sadness regarding DUS security staff. 1st of all it’s not acceptable to have airport security personal that doesn’t speak English. It’s a shame in the middle of Europe. Second of all they didn’t accept my support to help them what is wrong with my luggage. They prefer to remove everything from 3 different bags to keep one small bottle of water. It’s too behind to many other small airports located in Europe where the technology used is much better and personal with better knowledge.

✅ Trip Verified | We were flying to Larnaca from Prague and had a connecting flight through Dusseldorf. We arrived on time, everything was OK, as we didn't expect anything negative) First surprise was that in order to pass the passport control you needed to take the stairs and no elevator available nearby, so we had to carry our bags.. The passport control was OK, and then we had to take bother stairs down, but we kind of got used already to the comfort provided by the airport. Finally we found our gate and decided to get some snack. The only tiny little counter with brezels and only sparkling water was not working. The coffee machine was out of order too. There was a notice that the next snack stand was nearby, by it was not true - in this area (around gates A57 and 83) it was the only one. There was also a machine that was supposed to be selling drinks, but it was out of order as well. I would not be surprised if the lavatory would be unavailable as well. So we spent 2 nice hours waiting for our connecting flight and I will make sure not to get tickets through this airport anymore. We've never experienced anything like this before. I would be glad to read some positive review about this airport one day. But I doubt it could happen.

Not Verified | I fly an average of 12 times a year and Dusseldorf airport is the worst airport I have ever been to. They stole half of my 100ml liquids because the plastic bags were to big. I always use the same plastic bags for my liquids all over the world and this was never a problem anywhere. They treated us like criminals and were very arrogant. They abused their power on us. And we almost missed our flight. I will never fly from this airport again and advise anyone not to go here. Go to Keulen airport, much better.

✅ Trip Verified | This airport is not very large which makes changing planes rather easy. We arrived at an external position and had to take a bus to the terminal. The buses arrived on time and we got to the Terminal within about 15 mins after landing. There is a staircase taking transit passengers straight into the terminal. The shopping facilities are not extensive but there everything one needs. Signposts were clear and conveniently located and the boarding process at the gate was easy and effective. Altogether this is an efficient and small airport, well suited for transit.

Not Verified | Flown with Eurowings. Great company nothing wrong with that but Düsseldorf AirPort is not recommended by me because of the very unfriendly staff and sometimes on the rude side especially at the security check, very grumpy. If you don't fly to often it's not a nice start to your holiday

Not Verified | Avoid this airport if you can! We were there 2,5 hours before boarding. Stood in line for 2 hrs, personnel cannot speak English and and are slower than sloths. We had to throw away a bag full of make up, while in another line, women were allowed to keep their make up bats. We missed the flight, and that never happened to us before. Security is very rude. Do yourself a favor avoid Dusseldorf AirPort.

Not Verified | The most badly organized airport, terminal (gates c) show priority as we were traveling business it is even lit up but it is not provided. A very grumpy uninterested security guy said it was closed, when I asked why it was showing he asked me if I was hard of hearing! I returned by asking him if he was blind. Then the security check a queue a mile long and due to the reception area giving the wrong information must bags need to be reopened. In all it toke about 45 minutes with 5 police officers checking my bags. The next experience was immigration, where I think I met the most unfriendly officer I have ever met in my life. A big terribly organized airport and nowhere near what it used to be like before covid

✅ Trip Verified | December 22, our plane left for Funchal at 11.00 am. We were at the airport at 08.15 and that's when the chaos started. Check-in went normally, but during the safety check it went completely wrong. Two control lines were open while 6 or 8 are available. A conservative estimate was that there were about 4 to 500 people waiting in line and the checks were of course far from sufficient to get all those passengers checked in time. As a result, it was first cautiously pushing and when it became clear that flights were being missed, things got completely out of hand. Nobody took control. No one even attempted to help passengers. The police stood there with their hands in their pockets and watched. So it was pressing, pushing and jostling supported with shouting and roaring. Passengers were simply treated like cattle. It looked like a war situation. Unimaginable. And shocking.
