AIRLINE SAFETY RATING

Under the Airline Safety Rating heading, Skytrax make reference to the airlines that are registered airlines within the IATA Operational Safety Audit. This is a key, trusted source for the airline industry.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. All IATA members are IOSA registered and must remain registered to maintain IATA membership.

Skytrax do not consider it appropriate to publish our own list or rating of airline safety standards or airline safety record details.

There is no single, accurate global reference of safety standards and/or safety incidents that is reliable enough to assist passengers in their choice of airline. It would be unwise to make assumptions in instances where insufficient data is available.

It is fact that at the present time, it is not possible to obtain accurate or consistent reporting about airline safety incidents, either from all airlines or from all countries in the world. For this reason, Skytrax consider it potentially misleading to apply a Safety Star Rating level that does not reflect an accurate and trusted global scale.

Skytrax apply Rating for each airline's Cabin Safety Standards which is based on our direct Audit staff analysis of how well safety standards are applied by an airline's cabin staff before and during flights.
