MAKING AIR TRAVEL WITH BABIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN EASIER

TIPS :  Before booking a flight, call the airline to see what they offer. For babies under six months, airlines often provide bassinettes. Some airlines can supply nappies and food, and cabin staff might be willing to warm baby bottles/food.

TIPS :  Make sure you confirm the "stated" infant amenities at the time of booking - and if booking by phone it's worth writing down the name of the reservations agent that gives you this information (gives you a bit more support if you need to complain later).

TIPS :  Try to book your seat in advance - but if unable to, make sure you arrive at the airport early to have a better chance of getting the best available seats.

TIPS :  Many airlines let you keep your pushchair/baby stroller right up until you board the aircraft, when it is taken for stowing in the aircraft hold. On arrival at your destination, you will probably have to wait until reaching the baggage carousel to get the buggy back (a few airlines might arrange to have it unloaded at the aircraft and returned to you while you wait in the airbridge on arrival - but you need to ask).
